49 Carnage

A few hours later.

After the initial attacks on his massive army and after the horde suffered massive losses. Marduk ordered his army to disperse and to form smaller groups.

He assigned new leaders to each group and gave them separate routes take.

The plan was for everybody to show up and regroup outside the enemy's main city.

Marduk and his team of five hundred thousand mutants were running full speed through a very long suspension bridge. This area is very close to the coast and the bridge connects the northern and southern states.

Marduk is a bit apprehensive with this particular section of their route; however it's the only way to get to the other side and still reach their destination in the allotted time.

Marduk spear headed this crossing so he was the first who crossed over and watch from the side as the first fifty thousand pass through.

Everything is going well until a series of big explosions rocked the whole area.

Multiple Hydra missiles launched from ten fast moving gunships simultaneously hits the bridge at certain crucial spots making the whole structure very unstable. Miraculously the bridge still stands, albeit hanging by a few threads.

He frantically shouted orders for his people that are still on the bridge to move their asses over.

However he watched helplessly as the ten gunships made a wide turn and did another pass over the bridge releasing another swarm of Hydra missiles.

The second barrage finally broke the safety margin for the bridge. Marduk screamed angrily as he watched ninety percent of his team got swallowed by the sea a hundred feet below.

While still in shock from the sudden loss of the majority of his forces, the Gunships already made their third pass over Marduk's position.

He barked a few commands and over a thousand mutants who got through the bridge hefted their anti-air weapons and started firing at the offending gunships.

Four of the gunships were unlucky enough and was still within range. The burst into flames and exploded from the sheer amount of bullets that riddled the aircrafts.

When the four gunships exploded the rest turned around and headed back to a different direction completely abandoning the area.

Seeing that the remaining gunship is already fleeing the area, the remaining mutants cheered jubilantly.

Adam's arsenals are thinly spread out.

Due to the sheer number of mutants and the amount of teams who are scattered out, He can't maximize the use of his Thor missiles and the Zeus.

Although they have a staggering amount of destructive force, they also have a very long Cooldown.

So to make sure that none of the one hundred plus groups of mutants is a threat to his people; Adam has to use all of his resources wisely.

He uses Thor and Zeus whenever they're available, or the better word perhaps is when they're done with their cool downs. In between their cool downs, he have to employ his frigates and his gunships the most.

Due to the number of mutants groups, he is trying to avoid direct confrontation with the mutants.

He can deploy his ground forces to stop one or two groups at a time; however that would also mean that he will incur losses on his units. Since all his units have cool downs on their own, if he keeps loosing units throughout this war, he might not have enough units left if the enemy does indeed reach his city.

So he only uses his ground forces only if it's truly necessary. On the few occasions that he was forced to deploy them, he made sure that his losses would be minimal at best.

Eventually with his tactics, Adam was able to destroy most of the scattered groups of mutants.

There are some groups who still a few mutants what survived a Thor missile explosion or a Zeus's beam. Those guys are quickly dispatch by sending a squad of Gunships or a frigate.

Adam was finally able to start relaxing when Alice got his attention and informed him that she found the Mutant who is in overall command of the invasion force.

Using a video feed from the orbital drone, he watched as the forces that were left with the mutant commander gather again.

Marduk is really furious now. Out of the Five hundred mutants in his group, he is now left with Fifty eight thousand fighters.

Some of the ones, who fell from the bridge, survived and was able to get themselves into this side of the shore.

Most of the ones who fell are simply too dumb to swim and probably drowned when they started breathing sea water instead of air.

He is trying to decide whether he should just stop this whole thing and go back home or if he should still continue.

Suddenly a hundred feet long frigate appeared a mile in the air.

A beam of light appeared from the ship to a point a hundred meter away from Marduk's group.

When the beam disappears, a lone guy wearing a blue Nike t-shirt and black sweat pants appeared from the spot.

Adam casually watched the enemy group through the holographic display window, while reading the report Alice is feeding his heads up display.

He was satisfied when she declared that 98% of all mutant groups have already been wiped out and the remaining stragglers are already being swept by dedicated Gunship hunter squads.

He was momentarily distracted when he heard angry shouts from the mutant's group, a few seconds later explosions from thousands of explosive ordinance was shot towards his location.

He even flinches a bit when he felt a fifty calibre bullet hit him on the lower abdomen area. He grimaced when he saw a big gaping hole in his body.

However, a second after the hole appeared, it started closing as well and within a blink of an eye his abdomen is whole again, although his Nike T-shirt is definitely ruined now.

He finally closed the report and activated his Nano Battle Suit. In the next instant, Adam's whole body is covered by a black metallic suit.

A few pings rang when a few more fifty calibre bullets hit his body, then all of a sudden a fifty five millimetre shell hit him squarely in the chest.

However unlike previously, this time not even a tiny scratch can be seen on Adam's body. The Nano Battle Suit took everything and didn't even budge.

Adam satisfied with his armor, started walking towards the enemy group.

The moment he started walking, the mutants suddenly burst out and rampaged towards Adam.

At the very front of the mutants stood Marduk, he stood prominently amongst the other mutants since he body is proportioned and he is the tallest amongst all the mutants here.

The moment Marduk got to about ten feet from Adam; he swung his huge fist intending to smash Adam's head.

In response, Adam swung his own first meeting the huge mutants attack head on.

Marduk is very confident of his strength, among the hierarchy within the Mazoku Tral's, he considers himself among the top twenty in terms of brute power.

However the moment his fist made contact with the human's punch, he watches in horror as his entire right arm explode into a plume of red blood mist.

Adam swiftly moved on to the next mutant after his punch disintegrated the mutant's entire arm.

His next punch however was aimed towards the mutants exposed torso. The moment his punch made contact, the same over powered response happened and the entire back of the mutant exploded along with his gore. The whole transition from the two mutants only took less than a second to perform.

Within a span of a few seconds a dozen more mutant suffered the same fate. Heads, chest, back, all of them just explodes the moment Adam strikes at them.

After a while of doing melee fighting, Adam finally was able to gather enough data to satisfy his curiosity.

His right fist suddenly transformed into nasty looking plasma cannon.

He casually aimed it towards the area where the mutant numbers the most then fired.

The destructive force of the blast is definitely not on par with the Zeus or even a Thor missile, but no one can argue that the destruction it caused is no less than a fully charged blast from one of the frigates primary weapon.

He kept firing until all that's left in the battlefield is a devilish looking Adam and a lone mutant commander.

Adam Knew exactly identity of the very first large mutant he faced. While reading Alice's report in the beginning, she told him that the huge mutant was actually the current leader of the invasion force.

He purposely left him alive for interrogation.
