"Just tell me, how much money do you want to leave me alone?"

Lionel asked, raising his eyebrows, his unpractised conceit filtering into his expression.

"What do you mean?"

Ivy's smile froze in bewilderment, and there was a twist in her mouth that nearly resembled an astonished droop. She had a bad feeling about this that she just couldn't help but shake.

"You don't have to look so surprised. I know what you want. It's money, right? Just tell me how much so we can get this over with."

Lionel wasn't teasing. He was actually being honest. If money was what it would take to get her off his back, then so be it!

Not even in her worst nightmares did Ivy expect to be talked down in such a condescending way. Utterly baffled, this was the last thing she could expect to see from him. And yet, even in the face of humiliation, she forced herself to remain calm.

"What do you mean? Why would you think like that? I am here because I love you! Your words do nothing, except breaking my heart without mercy. You're not only insulting me, but also our love!"

Ivy broke out into one of her acting routines almost immediately. Like a movie star, almost as if on cue, she squeezed out some tears for added effects.

"Stop it. There is nobody here to watch your performance. You sure as hell aren't fooling me with your crocodile tears."

Having lost his patience, Lionel didn't want to waste another minute watching Ivy's drama show. After Ivy moved out, he carefully thought about every detail when they were together and slowly he realized what a horrible and hypocritical woman she was.

The fact that she killed her own child in order to achieve her goal was proof enough of her insanity. Suffice it to say, she was a monster. If that weren't the worst part about, Lionel felt horrible for keeping her at his side for as long as he did. Nonetheless, he kicked her out
