Chapter 17:The Werewolf Lo

Approximately 40 kilometers away from the Elemental Tower, there were dozens of tents set up within the small, busy valley.

Dozens of ferocious beast-like beings were cautiously guarding the only entrance to the valley. In this world, they were known as the Beastmen.

Although they were guarding the entrance, their ears were pricked up as if they could still hear the quarrels from the tents far away.

All the Beastmen could not help but lower their heads in sadness upon hearing the noises.

The origin of the quarrel came from the largest tent there.

"Someone has killed our scouts! They must be severely punished!"

"No can do! The enemy is catching up to us and we have no chance of winning at all! We must leave immediately!"

Some Beastmen were so afraid that they closed their eyes. The difference in strength between the enemy and the Beastmen was so great that even the brave Beastmen did not want to face them ever again.

"Let's turn back and kill the Knight Squad behind us. We must not let the pride of Beastmen be tarnished by the Humans!" A green Beastman, who was covered in scars, snarled. In order to emphasize its plea, it had even removed the ax by its waist and slammed the ax firmly into the ground in front of it.

"Dirty Owl, put away your weapon!" The highest-ranking Beastman spoke. It stared indifferently at the bravest warrior within the army, Dirty Owl. The latter was an elite Beastman that could face ten enemies simultaneously and yet it was instantly intimidated by the former. Dirty Owl muttered as it retrieved its ax and sat down.

It was one of the most intelligent Beastmen around and was also the General of this army. It was well trusted by the Beastmen and known as the Hero that defended them against the Human's invasion.

Although advanced in years, its words were more authoritative than any other. All the Beastmen stopped arguing and looked at it the moment it opened its mouth.

The Senior Beastman opened its eyes as it looked at the Beastmen around it and said, "The Feathered Hawk Knight Squad is the most elite of the Knight Squads. They've fought in all of the most difficult battles against our Beastman Kingdom. This time, their main force has arrived and we're a lone army, abandoned in Human territory. It's impossible for us to defeat them."

"We must escape. However, the problem is how are we going to do that? We've successfully finished our mission and those humans can't wait to tear us apart and eat us up!"

The Senior Beastman's gaze was filled with not a single hint of resignation. The Captain of the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad and it had been enemies for many years. It had always believed that it would have a duel to the death with The Captain on the battlefield and had never thought that it would die in a situation like this.

"Sir, please leave without any worry," A werewolf stood up as he spoke respectfully to the Senior Beastman. "I'll try to delay the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad here. Please, leave as soon as possible."

"You? Lo, are you planning to stop them alone?" The Senior Beastman looked at the werewolf and sighed. "The enemy is a group of powerful beings. I was the one who brought you out of this forest, but I don't think you've ever seen just how strong the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad is."

"I haven't, my honorable sir. However, I've heard many rumors about the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad throughout my time in the squad." Werewolf Lo lowered its head. "Sir, I'm the only one who has a chance of holding back the enemy. The only one who can give everyone here a chance to live."

"How are you going to do that? You're just one Werewolf!" Dirty Owl stood up and snarled loudly. "On what grounds do you believe that you can stop the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad!?"

Lo glanced at Dirty Owl and said calmly, "This is my homeland and I've got my people here. There are countless Werewolf tribes here, with tens of thousands of werewolves. Even if we can't force the Feathery Hawk Knight Squad to retreat, we can at least delay them."

"Sir, please allow me to stay behind. My brother died here and I still need to find his killer and avenge him!"

Lo's eyes were red as it looked at the Senior Beastman.

"Your brother? The Werewolf that was killed this morning by a mysterious enemy?" The Senior Beastman seemed to have recalled something. Earlier, the Werewolf that he had sent out to scout the area had been killed outside of the valley. Everyone had witnessed it with their very own eyes.

Many of them were worried that it had been a demonstration of strength by the Knight Squad. Hence, they sent out a few men to scout the area to determine if they had arrived. However, they had lost track of the enemy and nothing had happened since.

It was then that everybody realized that somebody else had done it.

Lo held onto its ax and tried to charge out when it heard that its brother had died. However, it was stopped by other Beastmen. The Feathered Hawk Knight Squad was just around the corner, if it was spotted, it would cause trouble to the entire army.

"Alright Lo. If you truly wish to do so, we'll go with your plan." The Senior Beastman waved its hand, gesturing to everyone else in the tent to stop speaking. "I'll return someday and kill every human in this land so that they can accompany you under the ground!"

"It would be best if my tomb is surrounded by a bunch of female humans. Their flesh is incredibly tender and fresh." Lo revealed a sinister smile. "A kid's heart tastes pretty good as well. I had one recently and my saliva overflows whenever I recall it."

Lo strode out of the tent upon finishing its words and disappeared into the distance.

"Sir, we must not believe that wolf pup's words." A tiny Beastman beside Dirty Owl looked at the latter. "I suspect that it's preparing to make a run for it."

The Senior Beastman sat there silently as it revealed a soft, cunning smile. It harrumphed as cold gas was forced out of his huge nostrils. "The wolf pup is still too young. Had I not found it rather useful, I would never have brought it here. Now that it wishes to run away, let's do something about it"

"Kandaro, stay back and make some preparations. Please make sure those bastards from the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad believe that the Werewolf we've personally dispatched is preparing to gather all the Werewolves from every tribe to attack them."

The Senior Beastman's words were filled with extreme malice. Kandaro, who had never acknowledged Lo, nodded its head. "Yes, I'll fulfill this mission as quickly as possible."

As Lo left the valley, he smirked. "Goodbye everybody. Please run while you're being chased by those bastards from the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad. I refuse to believe that they can find me among tens of thousands of Werewolves in this forest."

"However, my brother died here. I need to find his killer. After all, he's my biological younger brother." Lo's figure soon disappeared into the dense forest and what was left behind was his cold laughter. "I'll skin that bastard, slice his flesh and savor it slowly!"

…

Lin Ke waited silently inside the tower. His expression was calm as he looked at the new changes brought by the Level 2 Elemental Tower.

There was also the Equipment and upgrades brought by the Smithing Hall.

The Equipment looked rather unusual this time.
