Chapter 12:Leveled Up

Avina was not done with her explanation yet.

She waited for the group to recover from the shock before explaining further about her other skill, "My other skill is what I usually call Fatal Arrow. It will target the most wounded enemy and attempt to kill it."

Lin Ke was mortified when he heard it.

'Isn't that an assassination skill? If an enemy with that sort of skill uses it on me, will I be able to survive?'

After all, this was now the real world, it was not like an in-game world where everything was clearly defined by HP. In a situation like this, if he was struck by such a skill of the enemy, he would still have to die no matter how much HP he had.

"Avina, can you control which enemy you shoot?"

Lin Ke asked Avina, "If there was an enemy of higher importance, but they weren't as injured, would you still be able to kill them?"

Avina considered shortly before shaking her head. "I'm very sorry, my Lord. Against such an enemy, my arrow would not have any special effects. It would become exactly like an average attack."

Lin Ke breathed a sigh of relief, at least he understood the limitations of these sorts of attacks. So, as long as he could preserve his healthy condition, he would not have to fear such a skill affecting him.

However, moments later, an even happier thought popped up in his head. Would the enemies in this world even follow the same logic as in-game skills? Only the Heroes that he had summoned using the game system would have these sorts of unique skills, right?

Furthermore, Lin Ke still had no idea what kind of change he would undergo after leveling up.

Or rather, would a level up even change anything for him.

When it came to leveling up, Lin Ke had all sorts of guesses as to what would happen. However, it was barely a few more hours till midnight, he did not need to worry at this point. By the time he leveled up, he would naturally understand what kind of benefits it would give him.

As soon as Avina finished, everyone's gaze shifted to Compassionate Priest Lucy.

In the battle earlier, the enemies were already annihilated before she could even join the fray. That caused everything about her to be shrouded in mystery up to this point.

"Hmm~ Why are you guys looking at me?" Lucy blinked innocently, seemingly distraught over the sudden attention. Then, almost as if something clicked in her head, she pointed at herself and asked, "Do I have to explain as well?"

"Of course."

Dra said in a low voice, "We need to understand your abilities in order to formulate an appropriate strategy for the future."

Before Lin Ke even said anything, the first Hero to be summoned - Dra, using her authority as a senior, gave out the order to this newcomer.

"Alright! Alright!" Lucy waved her hands innocently before saying, "And here I thought someone like me, who didn't participate in the battle, didn't need to say anything~"

Lucy looked over at Lin Ke and waved her hands to create some sort of halo. When the halo reached Lin Ke's body, he was enveloped in comfortable warmth.

"This is one of my abilities - Compassion." Lucy had a smug look on her face as she said that, seemingly very proud of her ability. "Anyone under the effects of Compassion will have any damage received halved. With that said, if the damage is too high, then Compassion won't be able to do much."

As soon as Lucy finished, Lin Ke was overjoyed. This was an additional layer of protection for him.

With this, his survivability would significantly increase.

As a Blue Grade Hero, just having this skill was already an amazing revelation in Lin Ke's eyes.

However, seeing that both Avina and Dra had two skills, there was no way Lucy would only have one.

"My other skill is called Empathy." Lucy started to describe her second skill, "It can make one enemy feel empathy for us, causing them to stop attacking."

As Lucy finished her explanation, Lin Ke was shocked.

'This is a god-tier support! A Blue Grade? Are you kidding me?'

"However, it does have quite a huge limitation." Lucy sighed but had a smirk on her face, obviously recognizing that the group was completely shocked by her skills. "It only works on creatures of flesh and blood, and they must have a high enough IQ and EQ. Otherwise, the effects will be greatly weakened."

"Oh, one more thing, the duration of this skill is quite short. The stronger the enemy, the shorter the duration. It will be able to last for 10 seconds at most."

With that addendum, Lin Ke was quite disappointed. However, it was a CC skill after all, in the right situations, this skill might even be as useful as a divine skill.

As the group continued to converse, Lin Ke was notified that the other 2 Dormitories had been completed. He casually queued another Dormitory and an Elemental Pond to be built. Once he finished all of that, he could then start working on the Level 2 Elemental Tower.

Seeing his Silver flowing away like water down a drain, Lin Ke could only comfort himself with the thought of the 8000 Silver worth of profits from the Dormitories he would get tomorrow.

If he was willing to continue waiting, he might even be able to see how the Silver would come into being inside the Dormitory.

However, Lin Ke went to sleep in one of the Dormitories without even waiting for midnight. He felt like, in this world, it was best to maintain a well-rested status in order to have enough energy for the next day.

Before Lin Ke went to bed, he started upgrading the Elemental Tower to Level 2.

The Level 2 Elemental Tower needed 6 hours to complete and by the time he woke up the next day, it would be complete.

Lin Ke knew full well that he was not a carefree individual. He did not think that he would be able to fall asleep that easily on his first day here in this world.

He had already made preparations to counter the horrible feeling of not being able to fall asleep. Hence, he decided to hit the sack a few hours earlier, forcing himself to sleep.

However, all these plans were for naught.

Just a few minutes after lying down on the wooden bed of the Dormitory, before he could even start recounting the experiences he had today, soft snoring could already be heard inside the room. He was sleeping like a log…

…Until he was awakened by a weird tingling sensation.

"Ugh~" Lin Ke felt like his entire body was being invaded by dozens of worms, biting and ripping his skin. At the same time, it also felt like someone had rubbed anesthesia all throughout his bones, his body felt so weird that he screamed uncontrollably.

However, he quickly suppressed his cries.

He could sense that this suffering was bringing a lot of benefits to him. Although he had no idea where these sensations came from, he gritted his teeth and persevered.

The numbing sensation came and went like a whirlwind. After holding back his howls of agony a few times, this miserable feeling started to fade away, leaving behind a sense of comfort.

This type of comfort came from the disappearance of suffering. It was like the feeling of finally being free. As Lin Ke took a deep breath, he opened up the Market and went to the Silver Market.

He wanted to use it to tell the time.

"Hmm?"

However, when Lin Ke saw the Silver Market, he immediately understood what was going on.

The Silver Market's refresh timer was at 11 hours and 55 minutes. In other words, based on his deduction, Midnight had just passed.

To further this line of thinking, that meant that the numbing sensation he felt earlier was related to this.

With that, there was only one thing that had to do with midnight.

The built facilities had just given players their EXP Points.

Lin Ke had leveled up!

The original onomatopoeia used is more commonly used in Asian culture, usually to imply a cutesy pout kind of feeling. The author made a typo. The original sentence was "seeing that both Avina and Dra had two Heroes". Changed "Heroes" to "skills" based on the context
