Chapter 260 - Deadly Nightshade

Enger Cassius Lennox!

Monsters don't lurk in the shadows. They hide in plain sight, and Enger Cassius Lennox was nothing less than that. He can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. The man can keep the heads of the world awake at night, only to watch it burn. If people adapt to darkness when they are born, Enger was born into darkness.

The glass door opened, with each decisive step he descended, his sinister power echoed in his footsteps.

The men downstairs held their breaths with a bundle of nerves with each approaching footstep of the ruthless monster. For a week, they have been hunting the entire city for Jonathon, but not even in their dreams did they think Jonathon would be dead today, and the ripples he was about to cause have also died along with him. But there was one question running on their minds. How did Enger manage to abduct Jonathon? Little did they know, his network always runs on a 24/7 basis. He is a man in sheep's clothing, only those who had experience with him will see the monster in him.

''What's so urgent you wanted to talk with me?'' A grave sneer overcast the sinister gravity on his face. Just like him, his voice was smoky, attractive in a mysterious way. ''Is it about Jonathon?''

''S_ir.'' One of the men stuttered as he spoke. ''We didnot foresee Jonathon was prying on our company_''

"'I don't want this issue to get repeated.'' Enger cut them off in the mid-sentence. ''You very well know how my strategies work, right?''

''Y_es, sir.'' The three men replied in unison, gripping their lives at the edge of the zenith, for they knew it would be their heads rolling off on the ground just like Jonathon if they were not careful next Time.

''Dismiss.'' Without sparing them a glance, Enger strolled inside the room.

As if a huge burden has been lifted from their shoulders, the three men walked out of place with a sigh of relief.

He was no less than the hottest human being sitting inside the glass doors. His concentration all of a sudden paused when the door was pushed open. Without looking back, Enger chuckled as he spoke. ''Been a long time, right Nash?''

''Of course, I missed you. You have turned more handsome." Nash strolled towards Enger while his sight fell on the dead man lying on the floor. He shook his head at his friend's vicious nature. He is the most mysterious person unknown to the world, with an exception tag of a ruthless destroyer and hides it effortlessly.

''Is it? I should be honored to get praise from my friend.'' Enger chuckled again. ''Thanks for seizing Jonathon at the earliest.'' Be it professional or personal, there is only one person Enger blindly trusts, his friend Nash. Decisive and efficient, Nash is his right-hand man.

"You saved my life, Enger. It's nothing in front of the help you did in the past. I am always at your service.'' Nash said, with a smile on his face. ''Alright, it's been ten days since I have abducted that woman. Do you want to see her?''

''Ah! Regina Herera! The one who tried to hurt my beloved.'' Enger's demeanor entirely changed at the mention of Regina. He was trying to finish his work as soon as possible to concentrate on his beloved Leena, but now that Nash mentioned it, his hands are itching to teach that shrewd woman a lesson. ''Time for some action. Let's go.''

Engen and Nash headed out, drove to a sequestered lake, then rowed in the boat until they got sight of a dense forest. As they walked inside the thick groves, a house was nestled between two trees, more likely to say it looked like a haunted house. No one even knows such kind of place exists except for Enger and Nash.

The moment Enger flicked on the light, his eyes immediately shifted to the woman. Eyes closed, with head slightly tilted, resting against the pole, while her hands tied to the back of it, and with a tape gagged to her mouth, Regina looked as if she had aged ten years older than she was.

''Pathetic woman,'' Enger muttered as he strolled towards her, and without any mercy, he kicked right into her stomach. Regina jolted awake with a start and gasped for air as the intense pain spread throughout her body. She clutched her stomach and coughed a mouthful of the food she ate in the afternoon with the powerful hit she experienced. ''W_ho are you?''

It's been ten days since she is away from her parents. She was every day hoping her dad would come and rescue her, but it never happened.

Death would be a better choice; that's what Regina felt. A man would come to give her food every day, and right after she eats, he would brutally kick her stomach until she pukes. She better hoped they didnot feed. Her days in the mental asylum were comparatively better. Regina looked at the man with her hazy eyes. ''W_ho are you?'' She neither had seen him before nor offended him.

''I hate being questioned,'' Enger sighed and squatted in front of Regina. Looking at the woman trembling at the mere sight of his eyes, his lips curved into a smile. What a pity! Did this weakling really try to poison my Leena? He knew Regina would be no good after she got released from the mental asylum. So he had Nash follow her secretly, and true to his intuition, Regina hasn't changed. She and her minion has contacted an illicit drug trader and brought a powerful drug that can kill a person. Enger has asked Nash to execute Victor on the spot. He could have less cared if Regina infects the drug on Devin. At least, with that bastard not around, Leena would become his effortlessly.

''W_hy did you abduct me?'' Regina asked with quivering lips. His face and actions were pure contradictories. He looked more sinister than the psychos she has seen in the movies.

''Because I was bored. I do crap things when I am bored, and right now, I opted for serial killing.'' Grinning wildly with an evil laugh, Enger leaned forward and patted her cheeks. ''Do you think my face looks like a serial killer?''

Regina's tears rolled down the cheeks as she shook her head. ''I_I don't know.'' She wanted to scream, yes, you look like one but frightened to the core.

"What do you mean by you don't know?'' Tilting his head, Enger posed like a psychopath to scare Regina shitless.

''I_I_''

''You think my face looks like a psycho?'' Enger asked with interest. " Tell me?"

''I_I_ I didnot mean that,'' Regina replied promptly. She got scared the man would kill her this instant if her answer offends him. ''Can you please release me. I am scared_''

Enger broke into a laugh and slapped his knee. ''I scared you...I sacred you... I scared you.'' Enger began humming the song as he looked at his friend. ''Nash, did you see that? I scared her.''

Regina: '' ''

Just who is this man? Does he have a fetish for murder and death? Who opts for serial killing out of boredom?

''Enough Enger.'' With a sigh, Nash dragged his friend out of the room forcefully. ''Stop with your childish acts, Enger Cassius Lennox.'' Nash chided him starting the car. ''You behaved like a real psycho today.''

''I like psychotic things,'' Enger replied with a malicious glint.

Ignoring his friend's remarks, Nash asked. ''What will we do with her?''

''Inject this poison and send her home,'' Enger turned severe as he handed a vial bottle to Nash.

''It's not a good idea to send her home. What if she_''

''The poison is no ordinary. Atropa Belladonna, called as deadly nightshade. It can cause paralysis to various body systems if consumed.'' Enger stated as a matter of fact.

Nash gulped and nodded his head without objection. When it comes to that woman, his friend can go to any extent.

''A_lright, I will do it,'' Nash said. ''Where do you want me to drop? Back to the lab?''

''Home,'' Enger stated. ''It's been a month I haven't seen my wife. She must be missing me.'' His voice had a sarcasm as he spoke about his wife.
