Chapter 236 - Leius

Fidelity, bravery, and integrity, the FBI emblem was sitting high on the building. A group of people was waiting at the entrance of the bureau to greet the newly appointed assistant director of the FBI. When a car was pulled into the entrance of the office building, militantly, they marched forward.

A six-foot-tall figure stepped out of the car, his tailored suit hugged his armored body flawlessly. Attitude of a ruler, eyes of justice, he was the epitome of honor. His name was enough to put terror on the criminals.

"We are delighted to welcome you to the New York office, Agent Kurt Weller." A young man marched forward and stopped at a few meters distance, "Agent Kylen Alfred, at your service sir." His salute was fixed on to the man in front of him.

"Thank you, Kylen" Replied Kurt authoritatively.

"Did you assemble the team with the list I forwarded?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good job." Kurt walked inside as he commanded. "Gather up the team for a quick meeting."

"On it, sir."

....

The team held their breaths waiting to meet the newly appointed assistant director. Although they have seen him and heard of his impeccable achievements, they are thrilled to meet him in person and work with him. Interrupting the thoughts, they heard footsteps sounded down the hallway and the door was pushed open, an imposing figure entered the room in authority.

"Good morning, gentleman." Kurt strolled into the rooms as he spoke. "I know you are curious to know why I have picked the five of you for the secret mission." Standing erect, propping his elbows on the swiveled chair, he half-smiled at the team before he resumed back to speak. "You have been labeled as the best officers in the crime department according to my survey. We don't have time for our introductions. Let's dive straight to the point. Alright?"

"Yes sir!" The team said in unison.

Pleased by the response, Kurt decreed. "Projector on."

A corpse of a man propelled on the big screen. Body half-burnt, wounded legs, it was a terrifying sight to look at but the team did not flinch. Just like training their bodies hard, they have hardened their hearts also.

"Nathan Jones, Chemical Pharma engineer." A man named Jacob commented. "He died in a manufacturing facility recently along with his team right?"

"Precisely," Kurt added. "To the world, it's an accident but was it an accident? No. It.was.a.cold

blooded.murder."He enunciated each word.

The team gasped holding their breaths unable to believe it.

"Nathan works for Leius pharma company. After he died, I have been secretly investigated the case and once contacted his wife for that matter. According to the bits and pieces of information, she knows, the drugs they developed in Nathan's lab have potential risks. Instead of testing the drugs on non-humans, they are directly injecting it into patients for better and faster test results resulting in death and also increasing the incoming patient count to Cross hospital. The evidence Nathan collected not even reached outside, he was murdered and the the evidence disappeared. To not put a seed of doubt, they have killed the entire team he has worked with and showcased it as an accident. Assuming that his wife would be a threat, they killed her and posed it suicide to the public."

"So, Nathan's chapter is closed," Kurt remarked.

"My God! Unbelievable." A man commented in surprise. "Leius pharma labs is direct drug suppliers to the Cross hospital and they have a very good reputation across the world."

"You are right, Clemence. Along with the good reputation, it has underlying procedures which didn't appear on the surface because Leius CEO Landon is the medical advisor for many pharma companies. His words speak in the country. They are using the power to their advantage and even transferring the non-approved drugs to other countries. I got a information they have made New York as a hub for their illegal activities. Our hands are tied down. We lack evidence to drag them behind the bars."

"Any points you want to put on here?" Kurt asked.

"Landon is just the CEO of Leius pharma labs. Another FBI agent commented. "The founder of the company is still a mystery. What if he/she might be behind it?"

"You are right." Kurt smiled. "Coming to the point, he/she is operating in the shadows playing the game using these two scapegoats. It's not only that, these people are part of the underworld. Supplying guns, drugs, there is not one thing that they are into. Their money speaks to power." Kurt added.

"We will be part of this secret undercover mission until we find the main criminal. From today, we will closely monitor their activities. Are you in with me?"

"Yes sir!"

"Meeting adjourned." Kurt walked out of the room and went straight into his cabin.

"You have scared the New York office on the first day itself?" Mariella entered knocking on the door. "You have not changed a little, Kurt."

"I am executing my duty, that's all." He said, pulling out a file.

"By the way, when are you getting married? Your dad has asked if my daughter is single." Mariella asked with a hint of mischief. "Want to try?"

"I would rather marry a pig than your bratty daughter."

"Bratty fellow." Mariella reprimanded. "Why don't you accept that you are still scared to approach girls?"

"Why would I get scared," Kurt yelled. Speaking of that matter, that narcissist appeared in his mind. His mood even worsened now. He doesn't understand why she always glares daggers at him as if he has wronged her. I have to complain about her bratty behavior to Wilbur. It's of no use telling Devin. That man has become henpecked. "Women are just annoying."

"Mark my words, Kurt boy. You will become a wife slave In the future." Mariella said and walked out of the room.

"Me? Wife slave?" Kurt dissolved into laughter as if it a piece of fun. "Not even in my dreams," Kurt grumbled. He vowed to not marry because he finds it a distraction to his career. Little did he know, soon Kurt will take back his words.
