Chapter 219 - Tube of ketchup

Wilbur, Jane, and Reese arrived at the hospital. They were halfway to the destination, Wilbur got a call from an unknown number, and his world was brought to naught hearing the news. It was from the hospital and they couldn't reach Francis over a call. So, the hospital called him to get his consent to operate surgery on Leena.

"My sister!" Wilbur wept until there were no tears. As if someone was sitting on his c.h.e.s.t, he couldn't breathe.

"Stay strong, Will. Nothing will happen to our Leena." Wiping her tears, Jane encouraged him to not lose hope. Reese glued her face to the operating room with no expression dying to see her friend.

Hours passed, all the three were waiting outside the O.R. Nearly, at the dawn, the doctors emerged out of the operating room.

"How is my sister, uncle Roman?" In agitation, Wilbur asked rushing towards him.

"Her fall has implicated major organs in her body. But we are trying our best." Depressed, he closed his eyes as his next statement would leave the family in shambles. "Prepare for the worst. There is less chance of her survival. Even if she survives, she may not walk."

The doctor's words not only broke Wilbur's heart. Just arrived, Francis collapsed on the floor hearing the shattering news. He was flying back from Germany a little early to see his baby darling and when he just landed in the morning, he received a call that Leena is in the hospital. Never in his nightmares, he thought to hear such disastrous news when he can hear. "Leena. My baby!" His voice sounded like gravel. His eyes closed, and the tears flowed down his cheeks. Why is God so cruel to take away the happy pill of my life? How would I live without her?

Even when the doctors informed him that Leena's survival rate is very low, Francis searched and reached out to the best doctors but he did not receive a positive response. Day by day, he lost the confidence and also hope to live.

As if God showed mercy on him, a miracle happened after three months. All of a sudden, Leena reacted. Slowly, she started recovering and showed incremental progress, and not only her survival chances increases, but she was also even able to walk. Doctors called it a medical miracle. But he believed it's the grace from the divine. Within two years, she was completely healed.

.....

Present

Except for the kiss with her angel, Leena confessed everything to Devin that happened in the past. She felt it unnecessary to bring that topic when she is in a relationship already with Devin.

The room was eerily quiet. Except for Devin's heartbeat, Leena couldn't hear anything when she buried her face on his c.h.e.s.t. His silence was frightening her. She poked his arm to hear a word from his mouth but instead, a drop fell on her cheek. She gazed at their face, surprised to see his watery eyes. Did I make my babylicious cry?

Devin opened his mouth to speak a consoling word but nothing would come out. An assault, a scandal, and an accident. All happened one after the other. How much she has endured? How many times she was broken? No scar on his c.h.e.s.t, no blood was shed. But his heart was ripped into pieces. There was no wound but he felt the pain within. He couldn't withstand the pain Leena suffered in the past. Now Devin understood the reason she distastes men's touch and doesn't trust anyone easily. When he listened to the near-r.a.p.e incident, the breaking point of his patience reached. The urge to slice Ethan's neck was itching him but he has stayed composed.

"You grew strong despite your fears." He meant it.

"I sometimes feel ashamed whenever I think of his_"

"You shouldn't feel any shame for something you are not responsible for." He gently cupped her face. If at all, the shame is on the aggressor. He swallowed the anger and let it burn inside him. He needed it for the future. He has already started gauging Ethan's downfall.

"When Ethan informed I was a bet that he made with his friends, I was disgusted and vowed to never let a man enter into my life." Leena paused and peered at Devin's face turning sour. "That was until you came." She smiled, her eyes twinkled when the smile was back on her babylicious face. "You changed my perceptions, Devin. You respect my feelings, you respect my attire without judging, you never disrespect my size."

"If I don't respect you, I don't deserve you. I respect women. Someday, someone will give the same respect to our daughter." He gently laid his head on hers wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Cheesy fellow." Her face blushed crimson red. A daughter? It's time to give his respect right? She giggled at the thought. "Don't ever leave me, idiot. I will hunt you down and drag you back if you ever escape from my clutches."

"I wouldn't dare then!" He teased. Leave her? Not even in his dreams.

Time passed. Both stayed for a while in each other arms. "Are you asleep, Leena?" Devin started.

"Why aren't you calling me sweetheart?" She yelled.

"I am sorry, sweetheart." Replied Devin. He forgot she is still on period.

"I am curious. What is your intention of saying sorry, babylicious?"

"Naughty girl." He pushed her on the bed and began tickling her feet. He found her most s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e part and he often does it to punish her.

"Ah! Stop it, Devin." She coughed powerless to control her laughter. "Oh my! It's coming a lot."

"W_hat is coming!" He stopped his activities and hastily got up from the bed.

"A tube of ketchup."

Watching his confused state, Leena giggled. Pulling him towards her, she whispered into his ears. "I am on period. Don't ask in detail." Coughing and sneezing during her period is the best example of newton's third law. Each action has an equal opposite reaction.

"I_okay." With an embarrassment, he added and didn't talk about the topic anymore.

The sad past she shared with Devin was replaced by their blissful moments. Leena wished her happy life would be forever with her babylicious.
