Chapter 102 - the cost of victory

After beating jakob in chess nick stood up and azdra glided off jakobs shoulder and onto nicks before snorting at the two women aggressively. both of the women stuck out their bottom lips adorably while pouting but nick just ignored them and took out a thick notebook and opened it to the page that was bookmarked. if someone were to look over nicks shoulder at the notebook they would probably be stunned at the fact that the book was filled with the names of women and dates. both of the women's faces grew dark when they saw that book in nicks hand. "do you really need that thing?" lo mia said obviously upset. nick sighed after verifying his next date. "we've been over this already." nick said with irritation in his voice. "I still don't like that thing." lo mia said slightly quieter. "And I don't like the fact that I can't just find love at random rather than basically being forced to give every female I come into contact with a chance just so I have some f.u.c.k.i.n.g breathing room , but we all have to live with things we don't like." nick viciously retorts. both lo mia and the goddess flinched at what nick said as they knew they were part of those people.

nick left his sanctuary after that leaving only jakob and the two women. the two women looked at jakob with pleading eyes "can't you help us a little , you're his friend after all." the goddess pleaded. jakob sighed "i am his friend and i intend to stay that way , if i tried to help either of you i can almost guarantee that would change." jakob paused "you women just don't seem to understand that while you won the battle to get him to give you his time you traded that victory at the cost of basically causing him to became dead romantically. he will almost definitely never love any of you further than as a friend and that , that is all of your faults." jakob said with sadness in his voice. both of the women looked at each other and sighed since they could also see what jakob said as true and it hurt. after speaking jakob went to the crafting room to practice his crafts leaving the two women alone with each other.

nick traveled to the main office were met with his date with a polite but emotionless expression and proceeded to spend the scheduled time with her where they went to eat and his date talked about herself and asked questions about nick. nick answered and spoke with the correct expressions but no emotion the entire time. after the date was done nick repeated that process two more times before heading back to his sanctuary wordlessly. watching all this old sun sighs sadly "look at this old jade such a brilliant flame but almost without any warmth merely a cold drive for strength." old sun said sadness in his voice. old jade sighed "yes i pity the world for the loss it has taken, such a great young man having been turned into stone because of the greed of others." old jade said with the same sadness.
