Chapter 5 - You Knew

''Oliver Harold''Elder Luke called one of the participants.

A 3 feet tall kid walked up towards the transparent ball.

'' put your hand on the ball and try sending some of your energy into it''elder Luke said to Oliver.

Oliver followed elder Luke's instructions and put his hand on the transparent ball.He condensed his energy in his hand and send it into the ball .

A moment later ,The ball started changing color from transparent to green.

Elder Luke nodded and said ''good , you have awakened a D rank core ''

Oliver had a big l smile on his face. D rank was a decent core ,If he trained well in the future he could reach high stages of cultivation.

Core's rank was the measurement to determine someone's potential and talent and whether one could reach high stages in cultivation or not .

Cultivation levels were divided into :

Body refinement realm

Spirit refinement realm

Earth realm

Sky realm

King realm

Emperor realm

Heaven realm

Soul realm

Sovereign realm

Each main realm has nine sub-realms.

Elder Luke continued calling the names of the participants. Most of them were smiling and satisfied with their cores ranks while some of them had gloomy expressions .

The Raven family was a strong power house with variety of abilities .They had many talented individuals so naturally their descendants were expected to show the same talent. They got different ranks D,E,F and even C but so far no one passed the C rank.

'' i wonder if there will be a genius here with a B or A rank this year'' A bearded man with sharp eyebrows thought out loud.He was an elder named Charles.

'' did you forget that my daughter's name hasn't been called yet?'' A beautiful woman in her early thirties said to elder Charles .She was Lana and Lisa's oldest sister Evelyn.

She had short black hair golden eyes and a small nose with puffed lips she was so pretty.

''Not just your daughter but also Lana's daughter Maya. I heard she was genius and no one in the younger generation could compare to her combat prowess'' another elder added .

''It's true that i believe in my daughter's talent but compared to Maya I'm not so sure . I've absorbed Maya's training multiple times she's really talented ''Evelyn said while looking down at the pair of siblings that were holding each other's hands .

'' i heard she has a twin brother and he's a cripple ,is that true?'' Elder Charles asked.

Evelyn looked to her left towards an individual who had a pleasant expression but turned to gloomy upon hearing the mentioning of the cripple kid .

'Fuck , that useless trash is embarrassing me and my daughter, once the ceremony ends ,he'll be gone once and for all' this man was Edgar.

''Grace Garcia''

Elder Luke shouted .

Everyone paid attention to the girl with red hair like flames that was heading towards the transparent ball.

'' place your hand on the ball and send some energy inside of it'' Luke instructed.

"Come on Grace , show them who the boss is" Eric shouted to his sister.

'So embarrassing' Grace was embarrassed by her brother's words but she still nodded .

She reached her hand towards the ball and touched it while sending some red waves of energy .

The ball kept changing colors until it became yellow.

Elder Luke smiled and said " congratulations young miss you've got a B rank core "

"Omg she's really a genius "

" I wish i had a talent like her "

" she's so gorgeous "

The crowd discussion was heated when they saw Grace's results

' It seems her affinity is fire , considering her mother's ability I'm not surprised ' thought Shadow .

Evelyn smiled seeing her daughter's rank .

"Congratulations Evelyn "

"Congratulations "

"Congratulations elder Evelyn "

The elders congratulated Evelyn that she responded to with smiles.

"next participant Maya Edgar " everyone's eyes lit up the moment they heard Maya's name .

Lana was sitting with the crowd along with Lisa , their faces were brimming with smiles as they heard her name.

'Come on darling' Lana said inwardly.

Lisa looked at her sister and said " she's gonna be the star of this Awakening ceremony"

"Hmm" Lana nodded .

" Brother I'm going wish me luck " said Maya after rushing to the center of the stage where the ball was placed .

" believe me you won't need it "Shadow said to her with a big grin on his face .

Maya looked at him suspiciously but continued her steps .

Elder Luke looked at Maya and nodded . He was about to speak when Maya interrupted him" i know what to do" .

Elder Luke smiled as Maya surprised him a little .after all . All the participants were nervous and stuttered when they reached the stage but Maya had a confident tone even Grace was nervous when she performed her awakening.

Maya went and placed her hand on the ball sending threads of her energy into it.

The ball was changing colors so fast as if it was mixing them together , no one could see what was happening as the ball continued changing colors at a magnificent speed.

All the elders and patriarch stood from their seats their hands were shaking as all of them had a terrifying grin on their faces .

Shadow was watching the ball with a nonchalant expression as he already anticipated the result .

Suddenly a blinding light emerged from the ball and shot towards the sky . The whole empire could see the light . they looked at the light with amazed expressions as they only heard rumors about this phenomenon.

"N-no w-way an S rank and light affinity? "

Edgar murmured .

"Hahaha congratulations Edgar . Now the only light summoner in the whole empire is from the Raven family ." a man in his early fifties laughed while patting Edgar's shoulder , he was Clark Raven the patriarch of the Raven family.

"Yes i mean thank you patriarch " Edgar replied with smiles .

"Congratulations elder Edgar congratulations patriarch "

"Congratulations elder Edgar"

" congratulations Edgar "

" congratulations patriarch now our family will rise even higher "

The Elders congratulated Edgar and the patriarch as the patriarch was Edgar's father.

"It's a blessing day we shall have a feast " Clark said .

Down at the stage people were still confused about what just happened until elder Luke announced that Maya awakened an s rank core with the light affinity .

"What?"

"Light affinity?"

" An s rank and light affinity ohhhh my god"

" our family has a light summoner"

"Look at Miss Maya she's glowing "

people went into an uproar seeing the events unfolding in front of them . They couldn't believe what just happened.

Light affinity was one of the rarest affinities and no light summoner appeared in the last 100 years so this event was shocking to them.

Maya was glowing in the middle of the stage .she felt her body oozing with power . It was a familiar feeling that she felt right before the ceremony started .

Maya ignored elder Luke's praising and the people around her and went directly towards Shadow she was walking towards him elegantly with slow steps while glueing her eyes with his .

Shadow had a faint smile on his face as he stared back at Maya not caring about anyone present.

"Congratulations you wer."

"You knew"

Maya interrupted Shadow in the middle of his sentence .
