Chapter 30：Luo Qi 3

Seeing the bedridden young man who was looking pale but did not seem like his life was in danger, Old man Xu was puzzled.

He went to check the patient's pulse and was surprised at what he found.

"This... I thought he was poisoned horribly? There's hardly any trace of the toxins left in his body. Are you people playing with me? I am a busy man. I am not here for games." Old man Xu glared at the restaurant manager who trembled anxiously.

After hearing this, Luo Hanting sighed and relaxed.

"Thank you for coming. The young master was indeed suffering from pufferfish poisoning but this young lady was the one who administered treatment and acupuncture, saving the young master. If this esteemed elder can take a look at the young master's condition once again, we will be most at ease." Luo Hanting saluted with his hands to show respect.

Old man Xu was surprised to see that the one who administered the treatment was a young woman who looked very young. She looked like a pampered young miss from a wealthy family. He stared at her with a face filled with doubt. She was only old enough to be his granddaughter. How can such a young girl from a wealthy background know medicine?

Zhao Yan smiled and bowed. "This elder, I will take my leave now. Please watch over the young master. You may check the prescription I left if it is suitable. I will leave you gentlemen to do your business. "

With that, the willowy figure left without even leaving a name.

Old man Xu was dumbstruck after seeing such a young woman with medical knowledge then he demanded for the prescription.

The doubts in his heart were soon erased upon seeing the prescription and was replaced by something else. Blood rushed through his body as his heart began to beat.

"This prescription, " He gulped nervously and touched the paper, holding it in a precious manner towards his chest.

Luo Hanting raised a brow after seeing this. To his surprise, the man laughed loudly and began to lecture about the prescription.

"This is it! Why have I never thought about it!" Old man Xu felt like he had learned newfound knowledge after seeing this prescription. Hearing a cough beside him, Old man Xu was awakened and he quickly remembered his patient.

He checked the pulse once again.

"This young master does not need my help anymore. The young lady has excellent medical skills. This prescription is proof of her capabilities. Sufficient bed rest and medicine will help this young master recover."

Luo Hanting nodded before taking note of the young lady's appearance. His young master would no doubt search for his savior.

Zhao Yan wasn't too concerned because she was trusted her abilities. She went back to her courtyard with Chun Lan.

When she entered the restaurant, she was puzzled when a staff directed her to the second floor. She was surprised upon seeing the familiar face.

The young man who had recovered and had a brush with death a week ago stood up and saluted to her.

"Greetings. My name is Luo Qi. I was the man you saved from a week ago. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my savior. May I know this maiden's name?" He said in an earnest voice as he looked at her.

Zhao Yan was never good at lying but because her temperament was good, she was able to keep calm and say out a fake name.

"Lin Chunmei. That is my name. I congratulate the young master on his recovery." She expressed while smiling.

"Please, no need for formalities. Calling me by my name is fine." Luo Qi offered.

Zhao Yan blinked at his sudden words.

Luo Qi was quiet for a few seconds while staring at her that it soon turned awkward. Luo Hanting cleared his throat to dispel the embarrassing situation.

"Miss Lin, my name is Luo Hanting. I am the young master's bodyguard. I would like to express my sincerest apologies for doubting your abilities. I would also like to thank Miss Lin for saving the young master's life." Luo Hanting respectfully bowed his head. His sudden 180 degree change in attitude was startling but Zhao Yan just smiled.

"It's fine. As long as you've realized your mistake, it's never too late to apologize." She politely replied. Not once did the smile on her face diminish. Her fair appearance was really a sight for sore eyes. Her charming aura laced with innocence made people lower their guards down just to stop and take a look at her.

"Miss Lin, I hope you aren't busy. If you are free, I would like to treat you to a meal. I did not find you immediately because I was still recovering but now, I hope Miss Lin will humor my request."

Luo Qi offered to treat Zhao Yan to a meal to express his gratitude.

"Young master, I will have to decline. My current diet is very strict at the moment. You see...I am with child." Zhao Yan politely refused and hinted that she was not interested by saying this. She placed a hand on her stomach to emphasize this.

Both master and bodyguard were surprised at her words and their eyes automatically zeroed in on her stomach which made her feel embarrassed.

"How rude." Chun Lan angrily huffed and stood infront of Zhao Yan, blocking their eyesight.

The two shared a look while Zhao Yan felt extremely uncomfortable under Luo Qi's gaze.

The stare he gave her made her feel uneasy so she quickly left the restaurant with Chun Lan and went to her medicine shop. She was cautious to place a veil on her face and board a carriage to go back home.

After that ordeal, they never saw each other again or atleast that's what she thought. She had made sure that her identity was hidden and she rarely went out to show her face. She even heard an Old man Xu looking for her but Zhao Yan remained unmoving and lived comfortably in her courtyard.

Weeks passed and it turned into months.

To her great surprise, she was facing Luo Qi again. He looked like he was very prepared this time because he brought her a lot of gifts and Luo Hanting was also behind him, standing guard protectively.

Behind Zhao Yan's right, she could feel Jae Ha's icy glare directed at her visitor while on her left, Chun Lan's discomfort was very apparent.

The one who broke the silence was no other than Luo Qi himself.

In a calm and soft voice, he spoke,"Miss Lin, it has been a while."
