Chapter 193 - Secret Lovers

Hardin knew that something is going on. But instead of worrying about it, he fell asleep. Little did he know, the couple was in the other room tangled at each other.

In the other room, Harriet was snuggled to Kane and both are tired of leaving each other's side. When Kane's alarm started ringing, it was already eight in the afternoon and he knew that they would wake up around ten or twelve. He still felt lazy and he wanted to go back to sleep. He scooped her face and kissed her nose. Then, he slowly moved and fixed the duvet to make it look like she didn't sleep with anyone. He reached the doorknob and unlocked it. He was about to open it when he heard Hardin shouting for his name. He quickly rushed to the window and jumped down since it's only ten meters away.

He ended up in the bushes and since he left the window opened on his room, he was about to go to his room but Hardin just left.

"Shit." He grumbled.

He jumped to reach the window and opened it slowly. He pushed himself up and rolled down out of the window. Then, he rushed to the bathroom before Hardin caught him.

His heart was pumping from that exercise and probably because of getting caught by her brother. He knew that Hardin didn't like the idea of him being with Harriet because for him, Harriet is still a baby girl. He removed his clothes and went to a lukewarm bath. Then, when he came out, Hardin was crossing his arms.

"Where did you go? I look for you everywhere." He acted like a jealous girlfriend.

"I was in the shower."

"I didn't hear the shower a while ago." He raised his brows.

"Dude, stop acting like a little bitch." Kane said and threw the towel that he used on wiping his hair to Hardin's face.

"I am not acting like a little bitch. Did you go to my sister's room?" He frowned and threw back the wet towel. Kane acted puzzled.

"I did. Why?"

"What did you do?" Hardin sounded like grumbling.

"What do you mean?" Kane asked, puzzled.

"Hmm, I had a dream that you slept with my sister." He scratched his head looking confused.

"That's why you are screaming my damn name early in the morning?" Kane asked again.

"Yeah," Hardin turned back. "I'll meet you later and think about that dream."

"I slept with your sister," Kane said aloud to tease him. Hardin gave him a daggering glare and left.

Kane bit his lips as he thought of how Harriet would cling to him. He was in love. So in love for the very first time. All Harriet thought was that he was in love with someone else, like Lady Sophia. But he only did it to get information from her and acted like he was in love. He heard that they are making a move to dethrone the King or simply assassinate him. The Ministers are trying to get Kenzo or Maverick on the throne. They didn't want Prince Philip to take it because they knew well how meticulous he was and he controlled the entire army and air forces.

He put decent clothes on and went to Harriet's room and knocked. She seemed to just wake up.

"Hey, little Princess. Your brother just dreamed about us sleeping together. I think you should get up." He leaned on the door and she frowned at him.

"I'm still lazy." She grumbled. "Can you get me something warm?"

"Sure, sleepyhead." He closed the doors and turned around to see the glaring Hardin. "What? Are you still jealous that she prefers me over you?" he was trying hard to piss him off.

"I am not."

Kane patted his head.

"I think you watch too much drama. But we didn't know when I will steal her." Kane smirked and left. He heard Hardin cursing and that's the most fun thing he wanted to do with Hardin, pissing him off.

Victoria was currently busy starting at seven in the morning with her mother and Kaisley to prepare a special breakfast for them. The chef was always meticulous about the foods and he tasted each of them before having it delivered to the rooms. To their surprise, a handsome tall bulky man entered with a smile and he bowed at them.

"I am here to get Lady Harriet something warm."

"Here," Vivien grabbed the tray that was supposed to be for Harriet. She added more to it so Kane could dine with her. "It's enough for the two of you?" Vivien smiled.

"Milady," Kane mumbled.

"Just go and join her. I may not be able to have breakfast with her since we still have a lot of things to do here."

"Yes, Marchioness." He took the tray with him and left. Victoria and Vivien giggled at each other and gave a high-five.

"I can't believe that the two of you are acting like cupids." Kaisley chuckled and shook her head. She continued beating up the eggs to prepare waffles for everyone.

Then shortly, Hardin came to complain to her mother.

"Mom, is Harriet seeing Kane?"

"Why can't they see each other?" Vivien asked, remaining innocent.

"Mom, are they dating?"

"What's the fuss, Hardin?" Victoria asked and put a hand over her waist.

"I had a dream that they slept together," Hardin said. "I don't know if it was a dream. It felt real." He said and crossed his arms. Victoria squinted her eyes toward him.

"What?" Then she burst into laughter. "I can't believe you, Hardin."

"It's fine if they slept together. Just sleeping is fine but crossing the boundary before marriage is not." Vivien said, acting cook towards it. Hardin made a scowling face and he exhaled.

"Mom, what do you mean by that?"

"Marriage between family friends is good. Besides, we have known Kane for so long. Your sister is safer with him."

"Are you serious?!" He exclaimed and someone smacked him with a newspaper on the back of his head.

"Stop bothering your mother!" Hansen said as he put on a new apron to help them.

"Dad, you too?" Hardin creased her brows.

"What's wrong with it?" He frowned at Hardin. "Don't tell me that you fell in love with Kane?"

"Pfft," He snorted. "No. He's like a brother. And I prefer girls over boys."

"Then, stop acting like a brat and let your sister find someone to marry." Hansen scolded him.

"She's too young!"

"Hey, 23 isn't young. I am twenty-three, remember?" Victoria added. "How can Harriet learn to be independent if you keep intervening in her love life? I think you should get yourself one. I'll recommend someone."

"No. Forget about it. You guys are on team Kane and Harriet now. There's a big bias." He said and sulked as he left. Kenzo came shortly and hooked his thumb to Hardin.

"What's with his gloomy face?" Kenzo asked and he approached his wife and kissed her lips.

"He was making a fuss about his dream."

Kenzo pressed his lips and he covered her mouth and burst into laughter. He held onto the counter table and kept laughing as the Chef laughed with him and others seemed to get caught with Kenzo's laughter.

"He will be pissed if he finds out that we are making fun of him," Hansen said as he clicked his tongue and shook his head. The maids became busy in the kitchen and all of them were preparing food with the Chef and had a good laugh about Hardin.

Back in Hardin's office. He kept on sneezing and frowned when he thought that they were probably talking about them. So, he rushed to Harriet's room and found the two having breakfast together.

"Hey, let's eat!" Harriet waved at him.

He sat down and took Harriet's hot chocolate and sipped on it.

"Why are you flushed?" Harriet asked. He stared at his beautiful sister that resembles their deceased biological mother. "What?"

"Nothing." He shook his head, finished the half mug of hot chocolate, and took the half bite sandwich from Kane.

Somehow, Hardin didn't want to accept that Harriet would get married to someone. For him, she's still too young to be someone's wife. Harriet is independent and she has multiple businesses with their step-mother. If someone takes her from their family… he will surely make sure that they will get tortured if they hurt her. He had it planned with Kane and they would do background checks on every man that she will date. But it felt like he's been betrayed because they already have that plan but Kane is making a move to his sister.

He kicked Kane under the table as Kane tried hard not to show much expression and he rubbed his knees.

"Ow," Kane mouthed to Hardin.

"Sorry, bro. I have a very bad dream. I have to hit you at least."

"What dream?" Harriet asked and reached the goblet as she sipped on her water.

"I had a dream that you were kissing with Kane in the bed."

"Huh?" Harriet thought about it. "Not bad. Sleep with me tonight then." Harriet told Kane that made him flushed.

"Are you freaking trying to piss me off, little sister?"

"Hey, lower your voice." She scolded back.. "I am not little anymore."
