Chapter 124 - Claim To The Throne

Nancy's POV

"Please tell us what your reason is old man," I grumble as the tribe leaders look at me angrily. ignoring grandma's piercing eyes gazing at me.

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it now?" one of the leaders pouts, was he talking about my mother right now? how dare him!

"I'm sorry she is being silly, don't mind her words," grandma mumbles as she turns to face me "Nancy to your chamber right now!" she wasn't joking around the tone of her voice was enough for me to understand the gravity of the situation.

you could say because I have control of my powers now, I won't let anyone bully my loved ones especially not my only brother but I guess there are times one needs to give in, so I'm just going to stay calm for now.

"Yes of course, besides what do I know about all these traditions, I was just bubbling just now forgive me for my impudence," I said clutching my both hands in front of me, "Well then I will leave for you guys to carry on," I mumble faking a smile, the smile disappeared as so as my gaze met Zenab's, he nods motioning me it was okay.

I walk out of the hall but couldn't wait to know what was happening in there, "My lady," Pana's voice startled me, "What lower your voice, where are the twins?" I said almost whispering.

"With master Roland and madam Betty," Pana whispers back, "Okay now go back I want to listen to what they are saying," I whispered to Pana, she stood there looking at me as if I said something she didn't understand.

"It's not good for a Princess to eavesdrop especially when it's about a royal secret," Pana lectures, "Really now, okay you are right, Pana I want a lion's furs, go get it for me now," I ordered with no smile on my face.

"Yes my... what a lion's fur?" she said with google eyes. "Yes, you heard me right come on, off you go," I hissed.

"But..."

"Ahh, no buts ask any guard to help you out now hurry," I mumble.

"Yes my lady," she sobs as she turns to leave. good grief now I can eavesdrop in peace.

I lean over the door, "He is of royal blood and he equally has the right to the throne as much as the crown prince does," one of the leaders mumbles. Thanks to Pana I couldn't hear everything from the start.

what are they talking about and who has royal blood? I must find out. "How sure are you he is the son of the late king?" grandma muttered.

What! grandpa had a son grandma didn't know about? did he cheat on grandma? well, he is a king and entitled to many wives but grandma di become human all for his sake, the least he could have done was to be faithful to her.

It's not certain yet, "He has the ring of the late king and he passed the blood test," the old fool rumbles.

"Okay fine if you guys say he is my late husband's son fine," grandma mumbles, what? she is just giving up on everything for someone we barely know.

"As custom demands, there will be a royal battle, the one that wins becomes the new king," the leaders suggested.

No, I remember the royal battle Zenab and I had, Zenab is not that strong to fight a royal battle, and from what I know, a royal battle doesn't have a winner until one party is dead. I certainly can't lose my brother.

I was about to batch in and object when I heard grandma's voice, "I object to a royal battle, I'm still the queen mother of this land I have the final say," grandma growl, I let out a deep breathe well-said grandma.

"You know you can't overlook the possibility of a new candidate for the throne?" how bold of him, this man is tired of living I can gladly do him the honor of feeding him to the vultures.

"Zamuniland has always come first, and my grandson has learned these words since he was an infant, the first sentence he ever uttered was not, mother or father but these sentences 'Zamuniland always comes first' my husband and I made sure to engrave this words in his heart," grandma said, I could hear her voice break.

"But.."

"I'm not yet done, our next leader will be the one who will be able to protect the people of Zamuniland and I mean everyone single one of them, a war is coming, there have been countries fighting to enter our land for years and since my husband the king passed away, I poor grandson has carried that burthen," what is grandma trying to say?

"They will go for war with the neighboring countries surrounding us before they attack us we will attack them first, I'm offering the so-called son of my husband and chance to make an achievement," grandma mumbles.

Her idea is crazy, but it's very easy to win a war, "You!" a voice scoffs making my heart skip a beat, I turn angrily to face the person.

"You have been in the palace for a while, you should have learned some manners by now but it seems you didn't learn anything," the voice scolded.

I held my breath and finally let it out before speaking, else I will have to strangle him and make a scene.

"I'm just going to walk away," I hissed walking past him, he grabs my hand without me knowing, I lost my balance, he held me tight in time before I fell just then the door opened, Zenab, grandma, and the tribe leaders saw us in that position with his hands wrapped around my waist.

"Nancy!" grandma embarrassingly called out my name as I move away from him.

"Asher, what do you think you are doing?" the annoying leader grumbles.

"No dad it's not what you think, she was about to fall and I just helped her," Prince Asher mumbles, did he call him dad? now I will use the same sentence he used on me, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, no wonder, what a delight it will be to get rid of both father and son, I just can't wait for that day to come.

"We will take our leave now Queen-mother," the leaders said as they walk away after murmuring among themselves.

"Grandma," I sob.

"I think I have taken your insolence so lightly," grandma angrily mumble lowering her voice, my face turns bitter, "Nancy here is the palace, and every day it is war, people always want power before they include you in their dirty politics and power struggle just do as I say, my dear," grandma mumbles holding my sad face in her hand and smiles at me.

she let go and walks to her chamber, "Are you okay Zenab?" I asked when grandma had left wrapping my hands around his.

"To be honest, I don't mind giving up the throne but for the sake of grandma and you, I need to fight not for power but to protect you two," Zenab mumbles.

"And your kids on the way Zenab," I whispered.

"I don't care much about that once a stranger sits on the throne here will no longer be home for us," Zenab sobs looking concerned as if he was giving me reasons why he is not going to give up the throne.

"Look at me," I halt standing in front of him, "You are going to fight this battle and you are going to win, you are the king of Zamuniland so never forget that," I hissed drawing near to hug him as he hugs me back.

We are not supposed to hug each other in the hallway like that but who cares I take delight in breaking rules since I have obeyed them all my life, well I'm dragging my brother to be rebellious as well.

"My lady," Pana mumbles panting, "Here I brought the lion's fur like you asked," Pana whispered as her breath was still uneven. Did she get the furs? this girl is impossible I only wanted to get rid of her for a while.

"Good now let's go," I said turning to leave before Zenab questions me, I could read the horror on his face, that was a crazy quest I know but I didn't know she will get it.

Roland and Betty were having a chat when I enter the terrace while Mary-Anne and the twin play, actually she was teaching them how to fight, well as long as they are not hurt it is okay.

"What happened to you Betty you look hmmm," I hissed taking a seat next to her.

"Nothing happened, he didn't want to no matter how much I begged him, he claim we need to wait," Betty let out her frustration as we both laughed.

"I can command him to, if you want," I tease as we continue to laugh. There is always much to talk and laugh about when the three of us meet.

I'm really glad they are here. I'm missing Baby, I wonder how he is doing. he didn't tell me much about what happened with the pack, I only hope those bates and elders are not putting ideas in his mind.. Please come soon, I cried.
