Chapter 98 - The Light

Roland's POV

It all started when I run into her at Nancy's house near her father's grave, crying and letting out all her emotion. I couldn't help but watch her from afar.

She use to strike me as someone who is strong to handle everything on her own but when I got to know her better, I realized how lonely and vulnerable she is.

Like the saying goes 'those that need love the most are those that pretend they don't need it

"What are you doing here? How did you find me?" Mary-Anne snaps.

"Listen, before you say anything else please hear me out, it took me a while to figure this out or maybe I just wasn't sure but now I am, I know what I feel for you and I want you to stay by myself," I whispered as she walks over to me and plants a kiss on my lips.

"Is that a yes?" I grin.

"Stop talking and kiss me?" She ordered. That's what I probably love about her, she is just right on point.

I was delighted to kiss her, it was my first kiss and I think I didn't do bad at all.

.......

Nancy's POV

My heart tightens, everything within me is broken, I could hardly breathe, if I'm to watch them die I must as well die too and more so to think the few people I trusted so much and could put my hands in the fire for betraying me, in the worse possible way.

I tried to free from their grasp but I couldn't get away from the four men holding me down.

At the juncture of breaking down, when I couldn't take any more, the next thing I saw was a hue of light, it was so bright that it was the only thing I could see and nothing else. It lasted for a while and everything went blank.

It felt like I have been sleeping for days.

I could hear footsteps and people whispering behind the door.

I tried to get up on my feet but my body was too weak to move.

"How is she now?" A voice asks, by the sound of it, it's a female.

"Still the same." Another female voice responded.

"What really happened that day?" the voice hissed.

"According to what I heard, she screamed and suddenly she brought forth a hue of light. They even said the four men that held her up at the moment burnt to ashes." The lady pouts. Is she saying the truth? How come, I don't remember anything. Wait there is more.

"Huh!" The other voice exclaimed.

"Yes that's not all, With one look at the new pack leader he burnt completely into ashes, that was how she got to save the day. The poor thing has been sleeping for days." She mumbled. she is probably exaggerating.

"You don't say, how is that even possible, how can a human possess such great powers?" The other one muttered.

"There are rumors that....." She stops halfway not completing her statement.

"Instead of standing here spreading rumors, go find better things to do, now leave from here." A deep voice reprehends the two.

The voice was that of Baby.

"The rumors are never going to stop, what will you tell her once she wakes up?" Another voice asked as they enter my room. I pretend to be asleep.

Strangely I don't recognize his voice.

"What can I say, I need to stop the rumors somehow." Baby pouts with concern in his voice.

"Why not tell her who she is? What is the point of hiding it, she probably already knows or has a hint about it." The voice shrugs.

"She has no clue and you won't understand, everything is being played and determined by her grandmother, the moon goddess herself.

I'm worried about what she will do now, I'm sure she already knows we got married and has children which of course is not part of her plans. She already warned me to stay away from her if I won't become a human and even cast a spell on Leo to be her cub." Baby whispered out of frustration.

What is he saying? Who am I? And what has grandma got to do with this? moon goddess, I fold my fist under the sheets trying to control my curiosity.

"Oh boy, imagine what she will do now, I don't even want to be in your shoes now, but I believe this is what they say true love is all about, fighting against the odds and emerging victories. Well, let's just say your case is a bit tough, a fight against the moon goddess is a huge one." The voice hissed.

If I'm following correctly, I'm somehow related to the moon goddess. Will this explain the constant nightmares, the feeling I lost a part of my memory, the strange thoughts of seeing people on the moon and speaking with them must all have some kind of connection.

Now the hue of light, who am I? My body inch as these thoughts swings in my head.

Baby leans closer to me, close enough that I could feel the heat coming from his body and the sound of his breath.

"Oh man, my only wish is that we will be able to finally be happy at the end," Baby whispers as he runs his free hands in my hair carefully and gently.

"I sure hope so, by the way how is her condition?" The voice scoffs.

"The same, as the granddaughter of the moon goddess she had to undergo certain trials and tests before she could fully utilize her powers, in her case, she is not ready and has not even started training but due to the situation at hand, she dives into her powers. She could have died man, I'm only grateful the light didn't consume her body." Baby muttered holding my hands.

"We could only be grateful."

"The light made a shield around the kids, I can't even go close to them." Baby let out a murmur.

"What! Was it that strong?" The voice awes.

"Yes very, she had the people she cared about under protection else I would have been turned into ashes too." Baby mumbled. What nonsense are they spouting? I have thousands of questions. When I heard them talk about the twins I couldn't keep cool.

"My babies!" I shouted as I swiftly open my eyes.

"Thank heavens you are finally awake" Baby muttered as he planted kisses all over my face.

"Don't worry the kids are fine, I have Betty and Pana watch over them. You won't believe how fast they have grown, they already started walking," Baby grins as his friend clears his throat.

"Umm.."

"Sorry, Nancy, Karim he is my cousin. He came to town for some few days." He said with a smile.

"Hi, your royal Highness, nice to finally meet you. I have heard amazing things about you." He said with courtesy.

"Oh really now, what is with the courtesy any way never mind. Nice to meet you too I hope everything you heard about me wasn't bad" I whimper.

"Not at all."

"Okay good," I said now focusing my attention on Baby "the kids I want to see them." I grin. I was impatient.

"Yes my little cub, I will have them bring them right away." He grins motioning his cousin Karim to bring them.

"Hmm someone is excited, it being a while you called me your little cub." I teased.

"Yes, I'm excited because you gave me such a fright that I almost lost it" he mumbled messing my hair up and straightening it back.

"I can't wait to see the children" I hum in excitement.

"I know, before that, you should know they can't be around us until we figure everything out, especially how to control your... I mean the..." He takes my hands in his as he struggles to speak up.

"The light you mean to say?" I interrupted him.

"Yes, the light," I said as his facial expression dropped. He was being careful he doesn't scare me.

"You mean I'm going to hurt our own children?" I  pout.

"That is not what I mean but...." I didn't let him finish whatever excuse he had to give.

Just then Betty and Pana enter the room with the kids. Accompanied by Roland and of course the one person I have to start putting up with, Mary-Anne and his cousins Norinika and Deminika.

"There you are, I'm glad you are awake Nancy." Roland grins, even his smile is different now, what love can do to a person.

Even I am also messed up by love. I can only understand.

"Me too dear," Betty whispers. As he let Barbie and Barbara walk to me.

"Come here my darlings!" I said opening my hands. Baby stood up from the bed and left to the corner of the room as the kids giggled and smile at me playfully.

"Look how beautiful this is, they never smiled like this, these past days" Betty mumbles.

"Yes my lady, it's so good to see you are finally awake," Pana said almost crying.

I hug my babies as I plant several kisses all over them.

"Come over here," I said tapping the bed asking Baby to come to join us. for the first time since they were born, he held them with so much excitement.

And it felt like I'm yet to fully know who Alpha Bernard Ace Brandson Yang really is.

I'm seeing another side of him I have never seen before, who would have thought that he will be such a sweet loving father.

"Nancy," Norinika said softly.

"Not now Nika, just not now," I said as I refrained from getting angry.

"Nancy please," she insisted.

"I will take the twins, we will be in the garden hurry and come join us, okay," Baby said as he plants a kiss on my lips.

"Come on everyone, let's leave them to talk" Baby grins as he carries the twins on his shoulders. I couldn't help but smile at how playful he was with our kids.

"Nancy, I know we let you down but we just couldn't fight against our parents, we are so sorry." Norinika pleaded.

"I know it's all in the past now, let's just forget about it. Forgive me if I'm unable to trust you again," I pout trying to keep my cool and not show any sign of weakness in front of them. I almost lost my entire family because of them and I don't know if I can't still trust them.

"I need to go somewhere if you don't mind leaving me alone to get dressed" I hissed looking away from them.

Norinika holds my hands and gently squeezes them before letting go.

She wipes her tears before walking out with Deminika.

I sat on the bed to catch a breath.

I still have Roses and her father to deal with. I found some clothes I changed into before sneaking out of the house.

"Going somewhere? I will drive you" a voice said as I halt.

"I wouldn't ask any questions, let me drive you to where ever you want to go," Roland said as he walks to me.

"Shouldn't you be with your girlfriend right now?" I asked rolling my eyes.

"Well yeah, but you come first" he replies taking the lead. I let out a chuckle before following him.

"I'm coming along too," anyone voice said from behind. Who is it now, I thought of using the back so no one stops me but it seems the back door is attracting more people than the front door would have.

I frown
