Chapter 77 - Family

Feeling a little out of place, an unease feeling gulped me. I had to fake a smile each time grandma introduces me to the guests.

"Grandma, can I take Nancy with me for a while?" Zenab said rescuing me from the guests and grandma's old stories about mum.

Even though it helped me understand her being overprotective. She gave up so much for me to get better.

"Sure my dear, you siblings can go talk alone" grandma responded.

Zenab and I walk out of the hall to the garden, there was a big fountain in the middle of the garden and a statue of a king holding a sword and a lion or it a tiger lying under his feet.

It was obvious it was the statue of grandpa. I wished I had met him.

"That's father, I mean grandfather. I still can't get used to that yet" he said breaking the silence.

"I understand," I said with a gentle smile. There was another brick of silence between us. No one knew what to ask or how to even start a conversation.

I was fully aware it wasn't going to be easy. I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask. How was his life growing up? His likes and dislikes. If he loves the same things I love.

I didn't know where to start. We needed to start from somewhere and someone has to say something. The silence was getting awkward.

"Um.."

"How was...?" We both said together.

"You can go first" we muttered together.

We smiled at each other breaking the awkwardness stirring in the air.

"What did you want to ask?" I pout.

"How was it like living with them? I mean our parents. Mum... Sorry, grandmother gave me all the motherly love that I never cared to ask about my birth mother.

Grandfather was tough on me well you know because I was a prince and all that. I never received any love from him. I did everything he told me with no questions asked just to have his admiration.

Eventually, I did. That was on his death bed" he sight with a soft smile.

"I see, well living with mum and dad was like a typical home you know nothing really special but in my case mum was strict and dad was soft.

Dad pampered me so much. Maybe because I was sick but he was the best dad I could ever wish for.

Mum and I use to disagree with every single thing. Maybe she was scared of losing me too. We got closer after dad died and I got to understand her better.

I got to know about you two days ago. I can just imagine how hard it has been for them to hide this secret for long" I mumble.

"I would have loved to meet them" Zenab sobs.

"Me too, but see look up, over there you see that two shining stars in the skies? That's mum and dad, they are watching over us right now" I said pointing to the stars.

He let out a gentle chuckle. "Smh, you believe in that children's lie?" He teases.

"Hi, stop," I said hitting him softly on the hand. "That's not children's lie is true, besides dad told me," I protest.

"He lied to you then" he tease me again. After a while of us talking, I got to know we had so much in common. I asked him all the questions on my mind we are twins after all.

The talking broke the barrier between us. "I wish I could stay here with you and grandma but I need to go back to Akin city," I said sadly.

"I can understand you have a life there, grandma will be sad but promise me you will come to visit whenever you can and when you need my help with anything just call me." He said holding my hand in his.

"Thank you and I will" I whispered as he pulls me for a hug. I hug him back and in all these two days since mum's death, this is the first time I'm feeling at peace.

I felt I wasn't alone.

"To be honest if I didn't know better I will say you have different personalities, one minute you were this rude arrogant girl with golden hair, and the next minute you are a sweet innocent fragile girl" he teased breaking from the embrace, I notice he didn't want to cry. But it was too late a single teardrop escaped from his eyes.

He quickly wipes it away before it rolls down. I wonder who said a prince can't cry because it shows a sign of weakness.

"It getting cold outside let go back in, have a good rest and I will take you out tomorrow trust me you will love it. You are yet to see all the beautiful places in Zamuniland" he mumbles with a hint of excitement.

"Okay baby brother" I teased with a smile. Baby brother sounds cute and I know he wouldn't like being called my baby brother.

"Baby brother? Seriously, hell no besides we still don't know who was born first, it could be a baby sister" he rumbles as we walk back in.

I gave him a gentle smile and he returns one. As soon as he said goodbye to me in front of my chamber I entered and felt someone holding my mouth and pinning my body against the door.

"Don't shout it's me" the voice said.

"I'm taking my hands off your mouth now, you promise not to shout," he asked as I nod my head.

The room was dark so I couldn't see the person's face. He takes his hands off gently before I realized it was Baby.

"You! How did you get here? How did you get past the guards?" I rumble.

"Hi, it's like the princess of Zamuniland has forgotten who her fiancé is" Baby replies holding his waist and leaning on one leg.

"All 20 of them, but tell me what the hell are you wearing you look so funny in that," I said laughing.

"Smh, keep it down you don't want guards trooping in here right?" He smirks.

"Where is Leo?" I asked trying to control my laughter.

"He is keeping watch at the door, I missed you" he pouts.

"Aww, come for a kiss," I said as I pull him closer to me and plants a kiss on his forehead.

"I don't know which one is worse, a kiss on my forehead?" He let out a chuckle.

"Fine"

I mutter as I kiss him on the lips. He kissed me back and didn't want to stop.

"You need to go, someone might see you and there will be a lot of questioning and answers. Just then there was a knock on the door. We both jump in fright.

Baby tried to hide under the bed, but there was no space under the bed. We tried looking for a hiding place but there was none. The knock kept persisting.

"Are you asleep dear?" It was grandmother's voice.

It took me a while to open the door without closing it. Grandma walks in while Baby hides behind the door.

"Sorry grandma, I was trying to remove the dress but it was hard, I'm unable to" I lie.

"Silly girl that's why the maids are here, you should have called for them. Anyway I brought you a glass of milk, your mother never went to bed without her glass of milk, Zenab too" she said as she hands me the glass of milk.

"Thanks, grandma, mum will also force me to drink a glass of milk before bed," I said as I drink the glass of milk in a go and handle the empty glass back to her, and smile. she smiled back.

"Now go to bed dealing," she said as she stood up from the chair and heads to the door, when she got to the door, she stops and turn to face me.

"I have been wanting to ask who are those two gentlemen with you?" She asked.

"My school mates grandma" I reply sharply.

"Oh okay," she said and gave me a weak smile. Did she sense something? Should I have told her Baby was my boyfriend? Why is this so complicated? I whimper.

Baby comes out of his hiding place. He was not happy I didn't tell grandma about our relationship but I felt it was too early to disclose something of that source.

I couldn't tell mum that was open-minded and knows the existence of werewolves how will I tell grandma that is the complete opposite.

Baby and I spoke for a while before leaving to his room. I lay back on the bed lost in my thought. I didn't know when I fell asleep.

I woke up swiftly, sweating profoundly. My heart couldn't stop beating fast with almost everyone in my room. Grandma took a glass of water from the maid next to her and hands it over to me.

"Here my dear drink some water"

I took the glass and finish it and yet still I couldn't get over the shock.

"What happen dear? What was the dream about? Why are you like this?" Grandma sobs.

"I__I__I...." I open my mouth to talk but I couldn't find my voice.. I tried several times but I couldn't say anything.
