Chapter 38

When I was putting everyone’s schedule together, one of the notebooks in the middle of the desk had words that were written by the three that would certainly remind you of summer. Travel, pool, swimming, going to the beach, star gazing, camping, BBQ, summer festival, fireworks display, study session. Almost all are related to summer but it would cost too much money to make all of them happen and it would be very difficult to coordinate schedules to have everyone participate.

「There aren’t many days where everyone can participate.」

「Maa, it can’t be helped. Mei and I were not members of anything however, Shinozaki has club activities while Wakamiya-san has student council duties.」

「Well, I guess so.」

Wakamiya-san is doing something with her cell phone, looking up the dates of the summer festival and fireworks display, and taking note of them.

「Then, what do we have to remove? Should we remove the study session?」

「Oi, wait, don’t. Please.」

In the study sessing, additional words are now written which are “Super mega ultra important!”. It was Shinozaki who wrote them but everyone else doesn’t think of it as necessary.

「Then, what should we remove?」

「I don’t want to remove anything but I think we should just combine them. For example, I’m sure we can BBQ and star gaze at the same time, right?」

「Right but, will you be permitted to stay overnight?」

“Ah” everyone said.

I think there’s no problem with my house. Or rather, if I told them that Mei will be coming, mother and Yuna will force me to go at all cost. I’m sure that even if I refuse, they’ll think of something that will make me go.

「We’ll have to consider the budget too. I don’t have much money myself.」

「That will be dependent on where we will go.」

「Let’s put that on hold for now. Let’s talk about what we can do first and something that would be a day trip.」

There, Wakamiya-san raises her voice and bows.

「I’m sorry, Mei-chan. Kazuya and I already have plans for fireworks display so we can’t join you.」

「Maa, then, it can’t be helped. I thought it would be fun if we could go watch the fireworks display on the last day of summer vacation together.」

「I’m really sorry. Since Amane is free, why don’t you two go together?」

Shinozaki and Wakamiya-san grinned as they looked at us. So that’s your plan.

「Well, it’s true that I don’t have anything scheduled.」

Mei said “Then, it’s settled” as she typed something on her cellphone. Hey, you are blushing too much. I’ll be embarrassed too if you’re like that.

「Then, the rest will be swimming in the pool and the sea and the summer festival.」

Can’t you watch fireworks display at a summer festival? Isn’t that enough? Everyone doesn’t seem to think so.

「In the middle of August, there is a summer festival near the sea so why don’t we participate in the summer festival after swimming there? The summer festival is supposed to be held in three days but the fireworks display is only on the last day and unfortunately, that is already a school day so we won’t be able to watch fireworks.」

I feel something powerful is working to make me go to the fireworks display at all costs.

「I’m fine with that since we can go swimming in the sea.」

「I’m okay with it too.」

「Then, it’s settled.」

And this is how my plans are being decided. I’ve never decided about anything but that can’t be helped. Though I wish they would at least pretend to ask me.

While checking our schedule, we drank our drinks.

「My schedule is tighter than I thought.」

「No, I wouldn’t say Amane’s schedule is tightly packed.」

I think it’s tight since there is something to do three or four days a week. However, about half of it are study sessions, which is Shinozaki’s idea.

「All done. I’m looking forward to our summer vacation!」

「We still have to go to school tomorrow though.」

It has almost been a full day since we talked like that.

After the end of the school year ceremony, in which several students suffered from heat stroke due to the principal’s long speech, we had our HR but we’re only there to receive our report cards. I was wandering under the blazing sun despite the fact that it is officially summer vacation and I should have returned home already.

The reason is Yuna’s email. When I stopped by the bookstore and sent the time when I’ll go home, she asked me to buy some tissues. I replied saying I know that we’re going to run out of stock so I’ve already bought some. Then, she replied telling me to buy some reference books since she’s motivated to study. I replied saying I have a lot of books in my room and she can always take anything she wants there.

I feel like I’ll inconvenience her if I go home now so she’s asking me to buy one thing after another. Did she bring her boyfriend home? Is she asking me not to go home because he’s at home? If that is the case, I’ll be in big trouble if dad finds out. He’ll probably come over here as soon as he finds out. If I don’t tell him to calm down and restrain him, he’ll end up creating a lump of meat in our house. I must stop that from happening.

With that in mind, I continued to walk right and left in the commercial facilities in front of the station. The temperature difference between outdoors and indoors is making me feel ill but Yuna keeps on sending emails.
