Chapter 577 - Why can't I follow her?

Name:Tell Me Again, My Love Author:Fifie
"Ah..." she suddenly cried while they were still waiting for their food.

"What's wrong?" he asked, wondering what made her suddenly look a bit... regret?

"I forgot to choose the phone and the number for work," she put a hand over her forehead and shook her head. "I can't believe I forgot that."

"We can buy it after this," Jeremy said calmly.

"Is it alright? I think Jacob has another plan for the phone," Ryn ċȯċked her head to the side as she looked at her boyfriend. Right now, Jeremy was her boyfriend, but once in the office or during working hours during the tour, he was her boss and they needed to stay professional.

"Don't worry about him," he said.

"BUt lunch hour will be over by the time we're rushing back," she pointed out dryly.

"I am the boss. Who can scold me?" he snorted.

"The Dowager," she mumbled under her breath. Despite not holding any position in both companies, the Dowager could scold any of the family members regarding their attitude while working. With Grandpa Long as the benchmark, those who could not reach at least 80% of his level would get the scold. Well, except for Mika.

As the baby in the family, Mika was allowed to take as many days off as she wanted. The spoiled little princess could come to work whenever she wanted and could even leave early. But being Mika, despite she sometimes could miss a lot of days working, she could still find an opportunity for a money-making venture. Who knew she would get so much money from her Youtube and Instagram channels. She could just record herself doing her everyday life and could still earn money from it.

"What did you say?" he narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"Nothing," she shook her head. She would not dare to say it out loud. He would punish her if he knew. No. Better not to say a word of what she had in mind. Better save herself.

"Are you sure? I think I hear something," he refused to let her go. Of course, he heard the word she said. He was not angry, though. She was right. Only Grandmother could scold him.

"The food is here," she said with a relieved sigh. She was saved by the server and the food. She quickly took the napkin to give space for the server to place her food. Then, she thanked the server and smiled innocently at Jeremy.

"Let's eat before the food cold," she said. She placed the napkin on her ŀȧp and then reached for the knife and fork. Instead of just steak, she also chose fried rice. She did not think the steak could hold her for the rest of the day. She needed all the energy in order to survive during the learning process in the office. She learned during her school and even university time that she got hungry quickly whenever she tried to cram everything before the exam. The exam month would be the month she ate more than usual.

He twitched his lips in bemused. She was so blatantly obvious when trying to distract him. She even acted as if she never had the meal before when he knew he always ordered the same thing whenever they came here. Well, sort of the same thing, as the restaurant offered a few varieties of steaks as well as other food.

He did not ask anymore and she did not try to start any conversation. They enjoyed their lunch quietly. Well, as quiet as possible as the couple had to check their phone while eating.

"Mika?" Ryn frowned when her best friend suddenly called. "She's not in the office today?"

Ryn did not tell Mika that she went to the office as the ȧssistant today. She did not want to disturb Mika from her work as well as not want Mika to distract her and pull her into either the clothes, make-up or the jewellery departments. Ryn wanted to focus on being a good ȧssistant to Jeremy and would not let anyone or anything distract him.

"What does she want?" Jeremy frowned. He had a bad feeling about this. Knowing his little sister, Mika still did not accept that Ryn would be his ȧssistant instead of working with her. Hence, Mika always called Ryn and tried to change Ryn's decision, much to the annoyance of Jeremy. "Reject the call."

"J," Ryn shook her head in bemused. These siblings could be so childish during their fight and as always, the reason was her. She could not understand why the need of fighting over her when she was not a toy but a human being and has her own feeling and opinion.

She ignored his order and slid her finger to answer the call. She put it against her right ear under his glare. Why should she ignore her best friend just because her boyfriend said so?

"Hello, Mika. Have you had your lunch?" Ryn asked.

"Ryn, I heard you came to the office today," Mika cried. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Ryn rubbed between her brows when the question came. She should guess Mika would question her going to the company but did not meet her. Ryn looked at her boyfriend and mouthed silently, "Why didn't I reject the call?"

He chuckled. He crossed his arms and leaned to the chair comfortably. He wanted to see how she would solve this without hurting Mika's feelings.

"Mika, have you forgotten that I'm doing my practical training as Jeremy's ȧssistant?" Ryn reminded again of the hundred times. Every single time she would repeat the same sentence over and over again but it seemed like Mika believed she could change this by calling her every single day. Ryn even has the feeling that the call would end on the day before she officially started her practical training which would be the day she would follow Jeremy and his group for the tour. Suddenly Ryn could not wait for that day to come, just to end these non-stop calls.

"Ryn~"

"Mika, I came to the office to learn how to be a good ȧssistant to Jeremy because I'm going to be his ȧssistant during the tour and no, I won't change my mind," Ryn said slowly, hoping it would make Mika understands.

"Why are you putting yourselves in a hot water? Working directly with Jeremy is a nightmare. If you don't believe me, you can ask Jacob."

"Mika..."

"Fine. Fine. He's good in business and loves you so much so he won't scold you that bad," Mika mumbled.

"Mika," Ryn sighed again. This best friend of hers would never give up.

"Hmph... hmph..."

"Is there anything else you want to talk with me? My lunch is getting colder by minutes," Ryn reminded.

"Fine. Although Jeremy has you since the morning, tonight you're mine," Mika declared.

"What?" Ryn blinked her eyes a few times. She was confused with what Mika said. Does Mika want to have another pyjama party? What would Jason say?

"Tonight there is an event at Matrix hotel and I want you to accompany me."

"What about Jason?" Ryn asked with a frown. Why wouldn't Mika's husband follow her to the event?

"Jason has to work overtime today. He can't come with me. But he will pick us up once the event ends."

Jeremy frowned. He did not hear what Mika was talking about but he could guess what it was based on what Ryn replied back to her. Did Mika ask Ryn out? He reached out his hand to ask her for the phone. He wanted to speak with his little sister.

Ryn clutched her phone tighter and shook her head. She refused to give the phone to him. She did not want the siblings to have a silly fight again. She would deal with Mika on her own. She would not need Jeremy to make things worsen.

"What time is it?" Ryn asked calmly. She did not ask why Mika did not ask her mother to accompany her.

"I'll pick you up around 7.00 pm?" Mika said happily. She liked it when Ryn did not ask much and just agreed. This was what best friends should be. Helping each other when needed.

"Okay. I'll see you at 7.00 pm," Ryn confirmed before she ended the call.

"You're going out with her tonight?" Jeremy asked unhappily when he saw the conversation has finally ended. He crossed his arms and frowned deeply.

"Hmm... she asked me to accompany her for an event," Ryn explained. She reached for the spoon to scoop some rice and frowned when it was already cool. She sighed unhappily as she chewed it. She was too hungry to ask for the server to reheat the food. And it was getting late as well. She still needed to return to the office and continue her lesson.

"Why didn't you discuss it with me first?" he asked.

"Jeremy," she sighed at his childish tone. Why does it feel like he was jealous of Mika.... again?
