Chapter 179 - THE PROMISE, THE SECRET {IV}

Name:THE CEO's LOVE Author:JoannaAngel05
"Aww, aww. That hurts a lot." Jingyao closed his eyes and allowed himself swim in the pain. "My nose is totally useless now... How do you expect me to keep perceiving those nice fragrance women use?" Meanwhile he fiddled with his phone. I can't be the only one to receive this punishment.

Zhaolin went to drag him up. "What is wrong with you? What is so hard to say?"

"You'd hate everyone around you," Jingyao said with his eyes closed. "Everyone," including your very self.

When Riuwen had given him the news, the only person he could think of was Dai Jingyao, his friends knew something for sure.

And he would certainly go after Xiangyang but not now. The idiot would be with his cousin at the moment and he didn't want her cursing him.

He let Jingyao go and the latter scurried towards the washroom. He then placed a call over to Riuwen.

"You've any information on who it is?"

There was a long silence before Riuwen spoke up. "No,"

Since Zhaolin couldn't see Riuwen face to face, he easily believed him. So he was going to find out from Jingyao, that stupid ruffian knew who it was.

*

Jingyao delayed his coming out from the washroom, while rereading his text to Xiangyang. It showed seen, that means he had read it but wasn't replying.

"That fool, so if I'm dying I can't count on him to be my saving grace?" Jingyao hissed. Then there was a sound of something crashing. He smiled. "He came just in time,"

The washroom door was wide open, and the man that was wearing navy blue suit stood outside looking down at him like the devil.

"It is finally my turn to go to hell." Jingyao bit his lower lip. "Come and kill me, I'm ready to die."

Zhaolin frown deepened. "Do you think I'm here to joke around?"

"You can at least let me get married and have a stubborn son like myself before taking me to hell."

Zhaolin ġrȯȧnėd in anger and matched into the washroom, pulling Jingyao up to his feet. "You better come back to your senses you animal."

Zhaolin heard the sound of hurried footsteps and spun around to see if was Li Xiangyang.

"How interesting." Zhaolin couldn't hide the smile on his face.

Xiangyang frowned. "Zhaolin, did you make all those mess outside?"

"What do you think?" Zhaolin let go of Jingyao.

Xiangyang peeked through to see Jingyao's horrible face. "We should find out who did that to Jingyao first," he turned around ready to go check out the room.

Jingyao tapped Zhaolin and smiled. "He knows who the culprit is,"

Zhaolin's face that had relaxed over time now returned with full energy that looked like he was ready to kill.

Jingyao sighed. "I need time to recuperate." He held his nose like he was holding an egg.

*

Xiangyang felt the burning glaze on him, slowly he veered to his back and their eyes locked.

Xiangyang thought something was wrong so he took a step back. "Zhao... Zhaolin..." He stuttered. "Why... Why are you looking at me like that?"

"How did you know I was here?"

"You?" He frowned. "I didn't. Jingyao had texted me saying a guy broke into his room and was beating him up... Wait," Xiangyang thought for a while. "Are you the guy?"

Zhaolin hissed and sent his hand flying into Xiangyang's face. "You had come just in time."

"What the..." Xiangyang took several steps back. "Have you gone nuts?"

Zhaolin didn't say anything but smirked.

"You ungrateful friend, how dare you hit me? You don't know how much care I have given you, you're always unconscious when I'm giving you the best care and you're repaying me, by hitting me. I hate you!" Xiangyang touched the side of his mouth and frowned. "How do you want me to kiss your sister?" He made a show of crying and it only annoyed Zhaolin more.

"Why don't you fight back then?"

Xiangyang stopped to look up at Zhaolin. "Do you think I have a death wish?"

"Someone told him something, I mean what happened to Xueyan on the final day of examination..." Jingyao said from the washroom door. He would never risk being close to Zhaolin. Never again. That guy didn't even regard him as his friend.

Xiangyang mouth dropped open. "What did you just say?"

"He doesn't know who the culprit is," Jingyao mouthed and it made Xiangyang's mouth drop further.

Xiangyang looked around the whole room and nodded. Zhaolin created all these mess. He made a mental note of the condition of the room and Jingyao's face.

He took more steps back.

"You're a bad friend, why did you call me over‽" Xiangyang touched his mouth again and shook his head.

"Who was it?" Zhaolin probed. "It had happened on the final day of examination, at the school... Was it one of our classmates?"

Xiangyang let out an exaggerated laugh. "That's some bullshit. How can you say it was at school? Tell me, who told you those nonsense lies."

Zhaolin frowned. "Then who was it? Where did it happen?"

"Why are you asking me?" Xiangyang pointed at himself. "Just why? You should be asking the person that told you those lies."

"You're still willing to keep it to yourself?" Zhaolin was pained by this realization. "Even after all these years of keeping it from me?"

Xiangyang hand unconsciously moved to his ċhėst.

"You two are still willing to keep up with the lies," Zhaolin veered around and was now facing the door. "Fine, so consider me your enemy from now on." He finished speaking and matched towards the door and out of the room.

"..."

Xiangyang gaze moved from the door to Jingyao. The latter was resting lazily against the washroom door panel.

"Do you think he will ever forgive us?" Xiangyang found his voice first.

Jingyao was still looking up at the ceiling, "I don't even know how to think again."

Xiangyang dropped onto the brown leather couch, he was weakened by the thought of Zhaolin's angry eyes.

"He called her two faced." Jingyao shook his head. "It seems we have underestimated Zhaolin. What will he call everyone that has a hand in concealing it from him?"

"Whomever that was underestimated, was the person that tipped him off then let him come after you."

"You're right," Jingyao's hand balled into fists. "Problem is we don't know who it is."

Xiangyang used his palms to cover his face. "Whomever it is must have plans of bringing everything to light. And we can't let that happen."

Jingyao smiled bitterly. "You and I know Zhaolin well. Do you think he will give up?"

*****

Earlier, inside Zhaolin's office.

"You still haven't gotten anything?" He raised his eyes up to meet Riuwen's.

"I have," Riuwen's hand tightened around the file in his hand.

Zhaolin's gaze moved from Riuwen's face to the file in his left hand, while his right hand was tightly clasped shut.

"Everything is here, the main reason Xueyan had left school was because..."

Zhaolin had never been this impatient in his lifetime, he stood up from the couch, his heart pounding heavily against his ċhėst.

He could feel his blood rise, and his headache increase.

Zhaolin didn't want to interrupt Riuwen but the latter was taking his time. He wasn't even looking back at him.

He opened his mouth to say something when Riuwen dropped the bombshell.

"Bai Xueyan had been rȧpėd on the final day of examination..."

There was a long pause. No reaction.

Riuwen blinked twice as he tried to focus his eyes on Zhaolin.

There was shock on his face, like his biggest nightmare had just come to pass.

Then there was a look of disbelief.

It had been a total of seven minutes, where was the time running to? Riuwen wondered. And why isn't he saying anything?

"There's no way I'm believing that." Zhaolin finally said.

Riuwen sighed. He can still talk, very good. "That day her parents had come to get her... She had been drugged."

She had been drugged.

She had been drugged.

The four words echoed loudly in his head.

"How?"

"We had no idea too."

Zhaolin's face scrunched up. "Do you mean she got..." He couldn't bring himself to say the last part.

Riuwen understood exactly what he meant then dropped his head.

"God damn it!" Zhaolin angrily kicked against the couch he had just stood up from and it moved backwards slamming into his table and sending his computer to the floor.

"Why are you just telling me this?"

"We?" Zhaolin went forward and snatched the file from Riuwen. "Do you mean everyone else knows what happened?"

What is going on? Why doesn't he have a memory of this?

"Yes, you had found out about it. It had been traumatic for you, you fainted and only woke up two weeks later."

"WHAT NONSENSE‽"

"Yes,"

"And after I had woken up?" Zhaolin then thought back, Xueyan had suddenly moved back to Beijing.
