At that moment, Charles felt chill down his spine as he heard that Nancy had left her old apartment.

"Where did she move?" he asked anxiously with a hint of desperation in his voice.

But the woman merely glanced at him in disdain and replied, "I have no idea."

Annoyed at the woman's response, Charles took out his phone and dialed the man he could always rely on. "Jay, help me investigate where Nancy has moved to," he straightly said without even greeting first.

"There is no need to investigate. I have heard from Doris that Nancy has moved to her apartment," Jay answered casually from the other line. After a short pause, he then asked, "Charles, are you going to see her now?"

"Yes." The grim in Charles' face was so evident.

"Hey, Doris warned me not to tell you, and if she knew I did, she would kill me. So, don't––"

But, before Jay could even finish his words, Charles had already cut the line.

The former was left shaking his head while feeling a pang of remorse. It took him some time to get along with Doris and finally make her his woman. If Charles barged in there right now, she'd probably know it was him who told that man. And with her feisty nature, Doris would definitely not let him go.

He didn't want to break up with her because of this. After all, it had completely nothing to do with their relationship.

So, in his attempt to save himself, Jay called her immediately, and equivocatingly admitted, "I'm sorry, Doris. I accidentally told Charles her whereabou

hy would I risk that?" Even with the tone of Nancy's voice, Doris could feel how decisive the latter was.

"What about Ethan? Will you give him a chance?"

"I only see him as a brother," Nancy replied, shaking her head.

"But he cares about you." Although Doris knew how much Nancy loved Charles, the former didn't want her to waste her chances in love. If she was really that decided in ending things with him, then Ethan might stand a chance in her heart.

"But I don't love him. I can't lie to myself or him, can I?"

"Well, I guess you're right. Don't worry. The right one will come. Or maybe I can introduce some men to you!" A wide grin was etched on Doris' lips as she suggested that.

"Don't bother. I'm not really into dating right now."

That was true. Nancy had really decided to devote herself in working and in raising Nadia.

Besides, she needed enough distractions to forget about Charles, and dating other men would not help her.

So, the next day, she went to work, plastering a smile in an attempt to start positively.

Jessie, who barged in uninvited in her office, exclaimed,

"Wow, Dr. Nancy! You're quite famous lately. The whole Internet is talking about your engagement with Mr. Fu. Is it done already?'

"Dr. Jessie, since you've been paying attention to other people's marriage, why don't you focus on yours? You are not that young anymore. It's high time you find a man!" Nancy sneered, obviously annoyed at her workmate, who was an evidently malicious gossiper.
