Trying to attack and destroy the crystals from behind wasn't going to work. The enemies probably were protecting them from all directions. Even if that wasn't the case, it would take too much time to circle around the enemy's territories. So, Luke decided to jump over the buildings instead of crossing the streets. The uniformity of the buildings was pretty high, so Luke didn't have a hard time doing so. Even when some buildings were too far away from each other, he solved the problem by using Flying Kick, and he confirmed that he could use it several times in a row to defy gravity and keep flying.

"This is kind of insane…" Luke said.

The only problem with that method of flying was the lack of control Luke had over his flying direction. Still, with enough stamina and focus, he probably could cross over some distances and avoid bad terrain and enemies. Regardless, it didn't take long for Luke to find the next group of enemies, and he frowned when he saw some turtle-looking enemies emitting smoke through the carapace on their back. They seemed like the slow type since they were two meters large and one meter tall, and they had short legs. Still, judging by their status alone, it was evident that they were also sturdy and had powerful magic attacks.

"Hmnn… this will be a bit hard," Luke muttered while he was seeing the enemy's formation from above.

While the enemies were slow, they could use Charge to compensate a little for that. Still, their carapace grants them a bonus of defense, and due to their body sizes, they won't cluster together in a single place to attack Luke. Considering their skills, they will most likely attack him from a distance, and if he isn't careful enough, those same projectiles will make the grenades explode sooner than he wanted.

"Unless I attack them near the place where the crystal is… the smoke probably decreases their visibility as well, so they will have to approach before attacking me," Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "As for me, I will know which direction they will come from, so it is fine."

Luke wanted to eliminate all the monsters, but that was too unrealistic since many others tried to escape after finding that they couldn't win against him. Still, considering the usual pattern, they will try to escape the city, so it was fine for the time being.

"Considering their formation, the crystal is there…" Luke said and looked toward the center of the Flame Pests' territory.

After jumping over some buildings, Luke arrived at the place. While he couldn't see the crystal from above, Rina confirmed that the crystal was right below them. Just to be sure that things would go exactly as planned, Luke prepared four grenades to use.

As soon as Luke jumped from the building and landed near the crystal, he felt the atmosphere changing. The bloodlust of hundreds of monsters was focused on him, so it was no surprise that he would feel such a thing. Still, he ignored all that and used Flying Kick on the crystal.

The smoke was particularly dense in that area, so Luke wouldn't notice the enemies approach with his eyes until the very last minute. However, he could feel the ground trembling, signalizing the approach or the monsters, and that was more than enough. Their movements also made the wind chance, so Luke had an easy time choosing the right moment to throw his grenades.

Luke ignored the notifications and even the fact that the explosions dissipated the smoke and revealed dozens of corpses of monsters falling from the sky… or pieces of those. Luke thought that their carapace would give them some extra protection. Still, apparently, it didn't matter when their heads suffered too much damage… it was to be expected.

In any case, that job… or fulfilling Shaila's request was too easy. Now he just had to get rid of the monster species and then deal with the horde of zombies. Hopefully, that will be enough to convince Danielle. While she was a troublesome child, Amanda was apparently good at dealing with them. Moreover, Luke's mother has always tried to have a girl in the last few years, but they never succeeded for some reason. Hopefully, things will end well with her addition to the team. While Luke was thinking that, the ground suddenly began to tremble, and the atmosphere changed once again… Luke didn't like that. When the ground usually trembles, it is a bad sign…

"Oh, shit… what now?" Luke asked.

Luke decided to gather his loot later and immediately returned to the mall where he left Danielle. The kid was still reading comics like the previous conversation never happened. Luke wanted to congratulate her for her steel nerves, but instead of that, it was like she had zero sense of danger.

"What? Did you give up already?" Danielle asked.

"Did you feel the earthquake?" Luke frowned.

"Yes? They happen all the time around here," Danielle said. "You never felt that where you came from?"

That couldn't be a good sign, in any case, it was almost a miracle that Danielle managed to survive with that level of caution. The kid needed to be put under someone's watch, otherwise, she will get herself killed or worse...
