Chapter 76 - The Hunt (1)

It has been roughly three months since Simon entered the Blood Academy for the first time. In this time, Simon had already given up in interesting with the majority of his peers and opted towards spending time relaxing and thinking. Although he had not fully completed his body tempering technique, he was basically on the verge of finally piecing together the final pieces. It was only a matter of time until he could finally unleash the power of his hard work.

In regards to the events in the sparring hall, Simon did become a subject of discussion around the academy. Due to his lightning fast kill, he became known as the Cold Flash. In the eyes of his peers, he seemed like a person with no heart and no room for others, leading them to believe that approaching him would only result in their own demises. However, the news of Simon did not only reach students and the faculty, but it also reached the ears of a very prestigious organisation.

"Adjutant, what news do you have to bring forward? If this is about recruitment from the Blood Academy, I do not d.e.s.i.r.e more riff raff, find me a.d.u.l.t recruits."

In a room filled with maps and chess pieces, two figures sat opposite of each other, playing what seems to be a war game on a large wooden table.

"The MilComs are inefficient as they are, what good would a bunch of noble teenagers do? The angels are knocking on our doors while the filthy humans are trying to burrow down to Hell. Relying on a mere cult to do our work in the human world is really amusing, but we cannot have children fight wars. They lack experience and are too hot-blooded. Even a genius would die on the field." A well decorated figure with red horns laughed as he spoke. Moving a dragon-like piece to the front, he captured the adjutant's Queen.

"Marchelt, only by refining the youths at a young age can we produce well seasoned officers. I'll have you know that the academy has a fair share of monsters in the freshling level this year. Ten students are of the 4th rank, there is even a monster that has reached the 5th vision!" The adjutant contested as he moved a pawn forward.

"Adjutant, children do not know strategy. Noble children do not know military conduct. I do not have time for this. If I want good soldiers, I will recruit from the fighting arenas in the scattered villages. At the very least, they can understand power structure."

"I contest, Marchelt. Please attend this year's hunt, I promise you will not regret this decision. Their talents are remarkable. One student is so fast that he slit another student's throat before anyone could blink, another has the strength of a million horses! There is one that can emit the aura of a death king. I beg of you to reconsider!" The adjutant looked to the board and realised that the Marchelt had already won the game.

"Very well, I will visit this year's hunt and see for myself if there is anyone worthy of grooming. I hope I will not be left dissatisfied, your talk really makes me feel a tad bit excited for what is to come."

"Trust me, Marchelt, you will not be disappointed." The adjutant bowed briefly before grasping a clear crystal orb and speaking a message into it.

"Adjutant, any word on my request to Her Bloodness?" The Marchelt sighed.

"Her Bloodness' messenger came in last night. They said that the trainer of the Blood Guardians is not available to meet you." The adjutant said with a sigh of regret.

"What a pity. I am indeed a fan of their work. I have seen firsthand the power of a single lower ranking Blood Guardian, and I am quite jealous of the amount of loyalty and strength that they exuded. A single Blood Guardian is worth an uncountable sum of men, if only our men could be trained to that point. Even if the main army consists of 5th rank warriors, these Blood Guardians could still destroy a them."

"Fear not, Her Bloodness has sent word to us that the trainer may be available in two years, after the A.d.u.l.thood Ceremony takes place." The adjutant quickly announced.

"Two years? Very well. I have lived hundreds of years and seen many of my men die hideously. What is another two years when compared to the opportunities within our grasp? In two years, the Demon World will be able to punish the Angels." The Marchelt said with tears of joy as he leaned back on his chair.

"Adjutant, handle the necessary procedures for the recruitment you were speaking of. If you are right, I will be spending plenty of time nurturing some spoiled brats." The Marchelt said as he got up from his chair and used magic to clean the table.

"Yes, Marchelt, I will get the necessary procedures finished by sunset!"
