Chapter 164 I Demon

After a few days. Elijah and Yawen were resting on bed, chatting, "Yawen, have you seen that little crystal beast? I think it has been over a  year since I last saw him" Yawen who was resting on top of him jumped out of the bed the moment he mentioned the crystal beast.

"Oh... I've forgotten to tell you about it before. Crystal contacted me some time ago. Crystal seems to have found a large room with the most dangerous presence he had felt and it could be from the  boss of this floor. He also said said that he tried to contact you but it didn't work, so he decided to check it first."  Staring at Yawen, he could feel it was not all.

"And when did Crystal contacted you?"

"About three weeks ago."

Leaving the bed, he washed himself, changed clothes and stored the bed and all the other things he used to decorate the room. Suddenly, the ground started to shake violently as the sounds of howls could be heard everywhere within the labyrinth. Elijah's eyes turned sharp, images of his surroundings surface in his head. The platform had been surrounded!

"Take this! Most of the passages leading him are fully sealed so we just need to watch this one and we're safe!" Elijah threw his polaris sword at Yawen while thighly gripping his hammer's handle. There were four passages leading to this platform and three of them had been sealed. It would take tremendous effort to break through any of those seals.

The moment the word safe came out of his mouth, a loud boom echoed before being accompanied by other two sounds as the undead invaded the platform. Elijah was about to say something when Yawen interrupted him, "Shut up! You are going to make things even worse!"

"Who said that? I was just going to say most of these undead are weak and we can easily face them..." Boom! One hundred Lich kings and undead shamans could be far from the other undead. They all seemed to be part of a strange ritual, raising their scepters and cutting off their hands. A huge portal was summoned and a creature with the front of a lion, snake in the tail and the body of a goat. This creature emanated the pressure of a peak demigod at the same time all the undead knelt before such a creature.

"Okay, I suppose I deserve a beating." Elijah sighed to himself before exchanging glaces with Yawen. Then they turned around and started to run away.

Void Steps! Their bodies blurred as they leaped over a thousand undead and rushed through the door leaving a few after-images behind to attract their enemies.

Stopping after a long run. They hid in a corner while observing if there was any undead close by.

"Elijah, that creature they summoned is too powerful for us in our state. And it seems they won't stop chasing us."

"Yeah, it will take some time but let me try something. Governor, do a simulation with the data colected and devise the best course to take when facing the undead horde."

[Undestood. Starting analysis, preparing simulation... 1% complete.  Time remaing: 24h]

"Now, what  we can do is to wait. In the meantime, I will meditate." Seating on the floor, Elijah  closed his eyes and dived into himself. The fairies were still sleeping in the main hall and now a new door had appeared just like the one leading to the forest but before he could enter, his vision blurred.

....

Inside a crypt deep within the ground. Grand, timeworn room covered in moss, large bones and broken stones were everywhere. Right in the middle of this room, a man was tied by countless chains. Elijah looked around and saw that everything other than the man has worn and devoured by time itself. Stepping towards the man, Elijah took a closer look. The man was alive but was unconscious, with a long  silver hair and a huge beard that has grown with the passage of time.

After a while, a door open and the light of a torch illuminated the man's face before a few breads and bottles of water were trown towards him, "Hello demon, here is your meal. Eat well because tomorrow will be your last day."

The man with his eyes closed didn't reacted to the person who arrived, but when his eyes opened,  His body jumped over the few breads and bottles. Stufing the bread in his mouth, he devoured the  bread like a caged animal. Suddenly, he started coughing as the chain in his neck suffocated him for a second.

"You're really noting but trash, demon." Said the voice which Elijah who was sitting on the ground identified as female before the door closed and sounds of steps could be heard outside the door. With the passage of time, the same woman would return every week to give food and water to the tied man.

"Hello demon, this time I bought you a meat stew one of my maids made. You just won't believe what happened yesterday, I have been chosen as the fourth price's dance partner event not far from now..." One year, two years... Five years passed, from just feeding him once a week she started seeing him everyday. Talking about the thigns that happened in her life or sometimes just to spend time with him. Even if she still called him demon, he had become one of her closest friend.

"Demon, I will marry the fourth prince tomorrow  and I'm just so nervous..." Slightly opening his eyes, the man looked at the female grinning before him and the corner of his lips raised in a smile.

On the day, a violent rain fell from the sky. Even the man could hear the sounds of thunder from inside the crypt.

Wreak! Rushing through the door, the female entered the room and closed the door before walking towards the tied man. Tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down her face. The muscles of her chin tremble like a small child. Holding a key in her hand, she slowly untied the man as she spoke, sadly: "Demon, you don't have much time. The fourth prince never wanted me, his objective was you all along. I have been stabbed by his sword and I don't have much time left. There is a secret passage in this room, it will lead you to outside the city. Take this pouch, it has some a thousand gold coins..." As she helped him get up and handed the pouch to him, a mountful of blood was shot from her mouth as her body colapsed under the man's arms.

"Demon..." Saying one last word before life flew out of her eyes, the man caressed her hair as he spoke for the first time since ever.

"My name is not Demon, It is Edward, Edward Branches and I will get revenge for you." A silver gate, slowly unfolded behind his back revealing a shiny white altar and he gently put her over the altar before closing the gate.
