Chapter 221: Future Base

Leo and the crew realized that there's no zombies or any survivors on the island, but they did find a group of mutated wild boars which they hunted down one of them.

And one of those adult wild boars is now getting roasted over the fire.

Crackle!

The sound of the fire crackled as the juicy oil from the wild boar dripped down onto the fire, giving off that tasty scent that tickled their noses as they couldn't help but gulp down their saliva.

"Eat up! We have a lot of work tomorrow"

"Thank you, sir!"

The soldiers said their thanks as they quickly started slicing pieces of meat from the roasted boar as Leo walked away from the campfire with a plate full of meat in his hands and arrived before the small tent he had set up earlier, which was enough to fit ten people inside.

And a few meters away from it are another two tents for the soldiers on both sides, with the Pelican just parked in the opposite direction.

Leo is listening to the report that Alex is giving him through their private intercom.

"So, you guys rescued two individuals and one of them is a mutated human that can use a supernatural ability and is immune to the zombie virus?"

Leo couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that because it's the first time he's hearing about a mutated human, especially someone who is immune to the virus.

"Yes, sir. What do you want to do with them?" replied Alex from the other side.

Leo thought for a bit before answering, "Nothing for now, but once you're done with the matters on your side, then head to where we are. Just southeast of Hawaii island, there's an island just a few miles away from it"

"Alright, we'll do that" replied Alex before hanging up the call.

Leo smiled because Alex's stiffness seems to be easing a bit as he can now talk to him casually from time to time, which had been really awkward during the first time they met as Alex would talk to Leo like latter is some kind of a soldier, which he is not.

"Now then, let's get some rest because we'll get busy tomorrow"

Leo quickly ate his meal and went to sleep after an hour while his men took turns keeping watch.

The next day.

The Pelican once again took the skies, taking with it one soldier and of course, the pilot who needs to operate it, leaving Leo and the other soldier on the island.

Their mission is to go back to Europe and get some workers here on the island.

But because unlike the first Pelican aircraft that is hydro-powered, the other Pelican can only run using Gas so they needed to stop by in the main island and stock up on the Gas before making their way back.

Thankfully, the aircraft doesn't consume a lot of oil and can fly halfway through the world with a full tank.

Leo stared at the Pelican that's slowly getting smaller as it flew towards the horizon before turning back to his one remaining companion on the island.

"Come on! Let's get it on!" Leo couldn't help but shout in a little bit of excitement.

The soldier scratched the back of his head and said a little confused, "Uhh..what are we gonna do now, sir?"

Leo smiled at the man who's clearly older than him and patted his left shoulder and said, "What's your name, soldier?"

The soldier smiled and said, "Aurin, sir"

Leo looked at Aurin straight in the eye while wearing a somber look on his face and said, "Aurin.."

Aurin couldn't help but tensed up out of nervousness when he saw Leo's expression.

"Yes sir?"

"Right now, there's only two of us remaining on the island, so...we're gonna build a house!" Leo started laughing with his hands on his waist, because this time, he wouldn't be relying on the System, but instead build a house with his own hands!

Along with the help of his subordinate of course!

"Eh?"

Aurin couldn't help but become a little bit disappointed because he thought that their mission here would be something special. He just didn't expect that it's just something so simple like building a house.

Wait...building a house?

"Sir! Are you telling me that the two of us are going to build a house?" Aurin quickly asked Leo when his brain finally registered what Leo had just told him.

Leo laughed as he realized what he was thinking.

"Of course not, we're just gonna build a small hut while waiting for the others!"

Aurin felt somewhat relieved when he heard that.

"I really thought we're gonna build a cabin or-"

"Here," Leo cut him off and shoved an axe to his chest.

"Now, start cutting those trees" said Leo with a serious look on his face while pointing on a couple of trees a few meters away from them.

"Yes, sir!" Aurin quickly answered when he saw the look of seriousness in Leo's eyes as he quickly turned around and began his work.

'I wonder where this axe came from though. I'm pretty sure there wasn't an axe before'

Twak! Twak! Twak!

The sound of wood being split into pieces rang out throughout the surroundings as Aurin had already begun, and thankfully for him, the work wouldn't be that hard for him because he has the EXO-skeleton suit that can enhance his physical abilities.

'I wonder how it would turn without relying so much on the System?'

Leo smiled as another axe appeared in his hands, as he headed towards the other side and started cutting down a group of trees.

Log after log was cut down, as they rolled down along the ground.

Of course, Leo wasn't just cutting down trees blindly as he had already planned it out.

Where the settlement would be built and lands that would be converted into farmland.

And after doing all that, they would just bring in building resources outside of the island when the initial phase is over so that the trees in the island would be preserved as this place literally has everything for them except for drinkable water.

Leo used his broadsword and cut both sides of the log, giving it an appearance similar to a plank with two flat sides.

Good thing his sword was always out or Aurin would have been questioning his sanity of where that huge ass sword came from!
