Chapter 26 - Team ST?? II

• ??? POV •

My name is Leonidas Terezis. But I always go by the name Leo instead because it's shorter and nearly everyone always call me like that.

Today, my master who taught me how to hunt, which doesn't seem to far from what you call as "Assassination", however, it proved useful when bandits attacked a nearby village that I have come across after leaving the capital.

The bandits, killed men, chained the children, and enslaved the women. I was lucky that I managed to arrive before any of the bandits could even touch any of the women. And now, I owe my master for teaching me on not only how to hunt animals, but also how to hunt "animals in human skin", but I also hints monsters, so it's the same thing.

And now, I've got to pay him back to all the teachings he ingrained on me. The skills I've polished, they are the things that keeps me alive, and will keep polishing my "hunting" skills. Other than that, of course, I can't just hunt without being able to track my prey, that would be worse than dying.

He called me in my mind using what he called as telepathy, which I didn't know what it was since it's a new word, he explained that it was some kind of temporary metal link that connects two or more people together in their minds, allowing them to talk to each other at such great distances. However, what made it piqued my interest is that it's not magic.

However, I do also have some tricks with me that seems like magic, but I ȧssure you that they are not. After all, I learned these from a Far Easterner that was traveling. It was an old man in full black clothes.

Anyway, I digressed.

Today, is the day. Today is the day that I will soon pay the neverending debt of mine that kept me alive. After all, life is precious that even if you can live a million years, you can't buy it. He talked to me through that telepathy of his.

{Leo, come to Trizen and find me there.}

From the carriage, a what seems to be a butler came out of the vehicle wearing red and gold combo of clothes. And by the looks of it, he seems kinda wary but has no any intention of hurting me.

"Um, excuse me, young sir. Do you, by any chance know which direction Altena is at?" He asked in a calm voice.

Impressive. "You'll just have to follow this path, and when you've arrived at a split direction, take the path going around the mountain instead. There were rumors that there is a dangerous beast in there which I'll have to hunt soon, but I've got to go somewhere more important."

"Thank you very much, young sir." Then the carriage left.

A dangerous beast known as the White Tooth. It was not a monster you know that are instantly killed upon hitting them in the ċhėst, neither they are animals with stronger physique. My instincts tells me that there are some itchy human hands involved.

I'm not in a hurry. Patience is what hunters should have before becoming one or trying to hunt an animal. So, I'll hunt it soon enough, but not now.

--------------------------------

After a few years of traveling, which I'm just exaggerating because I'm bored. However, I'm already more than halfway there because I'm unexpectedly lucky that I was closer to that Trizen town or something. I also have a map, and a map is a must for hunters. And if we don't have map for the place? We send scouts to map out the place on paper.

So far, there hadn't been much aside from-

Really? Who would pay that much? And from the looks of it, these bandits doesn't seem to be powerful, and only seemed to be new based on the video I get from them, they're nervous, except the fool in front of me who talked.

"Here," I slowly put my hands underneath my cloak and reached for my daggers, and stabbed him in the neck with a nimble attack. "Keep the change, I'm sure you'll need that for Charon."

I then stabbed the one who first to try to draw their sword. They did "try" but I didn't even gave them enough time as I pushed one away while stabbing that idiot and also pulling out his short sword and used it to stab the opposite side where someone managed to draw their sword. Then, I stole his sword and started a swordfight.

Well, almost a swordfight as an axe came falling down from above. It was the other who is a veteran at this kind of work. In a fight like this where you have an opponent with a heavy weapon, parry is the best defense and then counter them with quick hits. As I do so, I also paid attention to his minions who tried to attack me thinking I was distracted..

And when the axe man was left, instead of parrying, I've redirected his strike towards the grough with a short sword and slit his throat with my sharp dagger.

One thing I learned from hunting is: "never let your prey take the advantage of space and terrain". As for how, the space is utilized by trying to conquer bigger space if you are cornered or surrounded, and also by using the terrain to your advantage will allow you to have better mobility. Luckily, I've trained and hunted in different places with complicated or simple terrain.

Oh? It seems like I've arrived. Well, where's that master of mine?

--------------------------------

"Heya, Leo! You're looking good today!" He gave me a thumbs up which I just grinned at.

I nodded and looked around. And then I saw myself on a mirror. Wavy black hair with strange red eyes that have white pupils instead of black, with the crimson red color looking like a circle in red color.
