Chapter 10 - Open Season

(Thanks for all of the feedback. Please remember that this timeline will not match the canon since it is a game. In theory, if no players change anything, the same stuff that happens in the movies will happen in the game. However, if Tyler keeps fuċkɨnġ around, stuff will change. I plan on having the Invasion of Naboo happen soon. Technically it was supposed to happen in 32 BBY but I am going to have it happen in 30 BBY. This is my story afterall and 2 years doesn't make a huge difference. And I also want your input. Would you guys like it if I did some scenes where I show events that the MC doesn't know are happening? Let me know!)

Tyler took the elevator up to the top floor and entered his chambers. He was completely exhausted. It was around 5pm now. Three hours before the dinner party is set to begin. He decided to take a shower. He honestly didn't smell the greatest since he hadn't gotten the chance to shower since he reached level 10. It is quite understandable though since he didn't exactly have access to one. He did not have time to waste.

He stripped of his layers of clothing. As he laid his clothing out on his bed, he realized that he is still wearing the original pair of clothing that he received when he became a padawan learner. He decided that he would go shopping in the morning before they begin recruitment operations. The guild leader needs to look stylish in front of a crowd. That is at least what this showman thought.

Tyler entered the master bathroom of his penthouse suite. The bathroom was lavish. It had white tile floors that were heated to keep your feet warm. A gorgeous slab of marble made up the countertop and two large sinks were embedded under chrome faucets. A large mirror covered the wall above a backsplash that sat against the wall above the counter.

A large shower sat in the far corner. The glass panes that surrounded it climbed up to the ceiling. He walked up to the shower door and pulled it open. He turned the faucet and let the water run hot. He then stepped in and closed the door behind him.

The feeling of hot water flowing over his body was pure bliss. As it washed through his messy hair and various bodily crevices, his stress and tension washed away with it. As he washed himself, various thoughts went through his head.

Every pair of eyes in the galaxy was on him and Limitless. It was as if he were the star of a reality TV show. Some of the onlookers are even sure that Limitless will be extremely successful. All of them want to take a piece of the pie. On a stage such as this one, power is nearly everything. Especially if you can get the people on your side.

Tonight would be his first real exposure to this galaxy. The hungry vultures would be swooping down for the kill. Due to Limitless being the new guy in town, the senators would be hoping to take the long end of the stick when it comes to negotiations. Tyler would not be taking this on his back. He must stand firm.

Suddenly, he received a message from John. It said that there is a large group of NPCs entering the reception area. They claim that they were told that we are hiring.

Tyler smiled. 'Well, that was quick! I really gotta make sure I thank Goby and Maro properly.'

He quickly finished his shower and then dried off. His clothes were dirty so he only put on a pair of pants and some slippers. He then put on a robe to cover his torso before taking an elevator down to the reception area.

As he departed the elevator, the one next to him opened as well. Xander and Goby stepped out of it. They were pushing carts that were filled to the brim with clothing, undėrġȧrmėnts, and shoes.

Tyler laughed. "Xander, I thought you went to buy formal wear for everyone, not the whole store!"

Xander shook his head. "I thought everyone would appreciate a fresh pair of undėrwėȧr. Am I wrong?"

Tyler nodded. "Nope. You are completely correct. Let's take everyone shopping tomorrow. We will all need different outfits to pack when we go on extended trips."

Xander smiled. "That would be great."

Tyler then sent out a message to his guild mates to let them know that the clothing has arrived.

High fashion and formal wear in Star Wars is vastly different compared to what it is on Earth. Women wear exotic dresses and men wear fitted suits. This may sound the same as the real world but it is not. For reference, the casino scene on Canto Bight from the Forbidden Archives film, The Last Jedi, is a perfect example of formal wear and high fashion in the galaxy.

There are a few pretty cool things about the clothing for players. First, all clothing aside from the starter gear is considered cloth armor. That means that it gives you a small amount of defense when worn. Another cool feature is that for guild players, they can have their guild emblem displayed anywhere on their torso. A cloak can also be used to hide a player's information and guild emblem.

Tyler turned to Xander. "Would you mind leaving my outfit in my room? Just ring the buzzer when you get there and I'll let you in."

Xander nodded. "Sure."

Tyler smiled. "Thanks!" He then received a call from Maro. "Hello my friend. I have good news!"

Tyler laughed. "Get on with it then. I have much to do before the dinner party starts."

Maro chuckled. "Alright alright. I contacted some companies that provide the services you require. Once I dropped the name of your guild, they freaked out and said that they would be sending a representative immediately. They should start trickling in a few minutes from now."

Tyler smiled. "Again, I can't thank you enough Maro. Have you thought about our discussion from earlier?"

Maro sighed. "I will need more time. It is hard to make such a decision regarding my shop. I have devoted my life to it."

Tyler shook his head. "Maro, I have no plans of taking the shop from you. It is quite on the contrary. I want to help you expand your operations. Feel free to take your time. Even if you say no, I will still keep my promise of only purchasing droids from you."

Maro smiled. "You are too kind my friend. I am quite fortunate to have met you. I will let you know when I come to a decision." He then hung up.

Tyler then walked over to the crowd of NPCs that were waiting in the reception area. They were all dressed appropriately for their jobs. "Hello everyone. I am Draco, Guild Leader of Limitless. As of right now, you are all hired full time to work here. You will receive a weekly wage of 500 credits. Managers will receive 700. Before you get started, I am going to distribute a contract for you all to sign. It includes various clauses and a confidentiality agreement. There will be things you hear that are not to leave the walls of this building. If everyone understands, I will hand out the contracts now."

Once they all signed the contracts, Tyler handed datapads to the managers that had information on the facilities. Once they were received, everyone got to work.

A few minutes later, several representatives from corporations rushed inside from the landing pad. They looked like they were frantically searching for someone. Tyler chuckled. 'I guess those are the reps that Maro told me about.'

Tyler then met with them all. The negotiations were actually quite quick. They didn't try any bullshit to gain more profit. The most important thing was establishing a good relationship with Limitless. The marginal amount of profit they got off the deal was of minor significance.

After just thirty minutes he had secured resource channels for the bȧrė necessities. Each representative was from a company that specialized in different types of food. They included meats, baked goods, fruits, vegetables, spices, kitchen appliances, silverware, beverages, and alcohol. This was everything they would need for tonight.

Once the meeting was concluded, each representative rushed out of the room. They all promised that they would rush an initial shipment over within the hour. It was now 6PM.

Tyler desperately wanted a nap before people began to arrive. Once the senators entered the hall, it would be open season. Each and every one of them would be hunting for benefits. He would need all the energy he can muster to keep his head straight.

He went back to the elevator and arrived in his suite. He stripped off his pants and laid down in bed. The interface came up and he set it to one hour.

In the blink of an eye, he awoke an hour later. His comm was blinking. "This is Draco speaking."

Kumbis was on the other end. "Guild Leader, one of the Chancellor's aides sent a memo. They received 431 responses indicating an acceptance."

Tyler sat up in his bed. "That is great news. Please inform the head chef that we need food for a thousand."

Kumbis was confused. "Why a thousand?"

Tyler laughed. "Well first of all, each invitation to the senators was for them and a plus one. So that doubles our count to 862 at least. There will most likely be those who respond after you received that report and also those who attend without responding at all. Then we have the Chancellor and his party of 3. Lastly, we have the 42 members of the guild. This brings us to at least 900 people."

Kumbis nodded. "I did not think about that. I guess this is why you're the guild leader! I'll get it done."

Tyler then shifted and allowed his feet to drop onto the floor. He reached his arms out to stretch. Then he placed his hands onto his mid back and pushed. He got the fattest back crack of all time. It was glorious.

He then stood up and walked into the main living area. He grabbed his new clothing that was hanging over a chair. He then walked back into his room to clean up and get dressed. After getting dressed, he clipped his lightsaber to his belt. He also instructed Xander to do the same with his lightsabers. It is now 7:15PM.

Tyler's plan was to receive the senators by the landing pad on the tenth floor. With that, he sent out a message to his guild mates. They were to be dressed and ready for a meeting in the tenth floor reception area at 7:30PM.

Fifteen minutes later, Tyler and Xander were standing before their 40 guild mates. "Here is the deal. Our guests will begin to arrive in about 30 minutes. I expect that the Chancellor and his security detail will arrive early. Xander and I will receive them personally. Xander, you are to then lead the security detail on a tour of the facility while I do the same with the Chancellor."

"For all of the other senators, you all will be the ones to receive them. Be kind and courteous. The first impression is the most important one. I know how it is. You guys are gamers at heart. One of the reasons that you are so into gaming is that you don't have to deal with all the political bullshit. All I ask is that you do your best. Put a smile on your face, address them by their title and then their name. Lastly, you may offer them a tour of the facilities before escorting them to the rooftop."

After he was done speaking, Tyler noticed that his guild mates did not seem too into it. He then came up with an idea. He quickly wrote up a guild quest that was distributed to everyone except him and Xander.

*Rank: Bronze*

*Description: Your guild is hosting a dinner party. Various important figures will be attending. Make a good first impression on as many of them as possible.*

*Reward: 10 Credits per net gain of reputation*

The crowd of players erupted in excitement. There were about 900 guests coming! That means that they had plenty of opportunities to gain reputation. It is much easier to gain reputation on your first encounter with someone than later encounters. After the first impression, one needs to complete missions and help out the person or faction to gain more reputation.

"Quiet down everyone. Now that you are motivated, I look forward to seeing what you all can do. Oh yeah, when addressing officers of the guild in an official setting, you are to say their title before their name. This includes the Elders, Vice Leaders. I am a special case. All of the senators know that I am the sovereign of a system. This means that I am to be addressed as Lord Draco."

"One last thing before we are done. Any non-officer who does an exceptional job tonight will be eligible for an Ambassador position in Limitless. This is a position that will be equivalent to Elder but will be more focused on relations. That is all. Everyone get ready. Our guests will arrive soon." It is now 7:45PM.

A few airspeeders approached the landing platform. Tyler recognized the force signature of the Chancellor so he rushed out of the reception area to welcome him.

He got to the end of the platform as the Chancellor was disembarking. "Chancellor Valorum, it is my pŀėȧsurė to welcome you to our guild hall."

Valorum smiled and walked up to Tyler to shake his hand. "Lord Draco, the pŀėȧsurė is all mine. I am thoroughly impressed that you were able to throw this event together so quickly despite the fact that you are new to Coruscant."

Tyler laughed. "Oh Chancellor, you flatter me too much. I merely had a few fortuitous encounters. There are some people that you really don't expect to have the connections they do."

Valorum nodded. "That is true indeed. You can never know everything someone has to offer until they show their hand."

They started walking down the path that connected the landing pad to the reception hall. As they walked, there were several servers holding trays with drinks. There were tall glasses with champagne, normal wine glasses with white wines, wider glasses with red wines, and an ȧssortment of hard liquors on ice in short, square glasses. 'Now that I think about it, I have yet to sample the alcohol.'

He turned to Valorum and his party, "Please, help yourselves to a drink." They all happily complied and retrieved a glass. Tyler grabbed a glass of hard liquor that appeared similar to a scotch. He took a whiff of the aroma and was in bliss. The woody and smoky aroma was strong and deep. He began sipping on it.

"Chancellor, would you like a tour of the facilities?"

Valorum smiled. "That would be wonderful. I am eager to see how far Limitless has developed so far."

Xander walked over to them. "Oh, Chancellor, allow me to introduce you to someone. This is Xander. He is the vice guild leader of Limitless. He was of great help in liberating Kessel from that abhorrent monarchy."

Valorum chuckled. "It is a pŀėȧsurė to meet you Vice Guild Leader. Lord Draco, it is quite impressive that you have two Jedi in your ranks. It is no wonder that you were able to do so much. The Jedi Order is quite resourceful."

Tyler nodded as Xander spoke. "It is a pŀėȧsurė to meet you as well Chancellor." He then turned to the security detail. "I will give you guys a more purposeful tour of the facility so you can do your jobs effectively. It would be highly undesirable for anything to go awry."

The guard captain nodded. "That would be of great help, Vice Guild Leader."

Xander then escorted the captain and a few guards on an excursion to view all the points of entry and exodus.

Tyler turned back to Valorum. "Allow us to continue on the tour."

Valorum was impressed by the facilities. He was even a bit jealous that the Senate Building did not have these amenities. However, he put these feelings to rest since this would not be a good way to spend taxpayer credits.

The tour lasted thirty minutes and it concluded on the rooftop. The elevator opened to reveal a somewhat crowded scene. Countless senators and representatives were chatting it up with each other and the guild members. Everyone had a drink in their hand and were sampling the platters that were carried around by servers.

Some had even sat down to eat at the restaurant already. Tyler was sure to have his vendors deliver the finest stock they had in order to avoid appearing as if he cheaped out on the arrangements.

Valorum smiled. "I still can not get over the fact that this was planned just this afternoon. I don't think I have ever seen pull off a stunt of this scale."

Tyler laughed as he led the group out of the elevator. "Anyone can accomplish anything they set their mind to as long as they have the right people on their side. I can only thank my connections for this."

Valorum nodded. "I know this all too well. It would seem that the various different fields all play their game the same way as a politician. Allow me to introduce you to some people."

The dinner party went quite well. Tyler got to meet plenty of senators. They were all eager to form a positive relationship. Fortunately, nothing bad happened aside from a few representatives drinking a bit too much.

For the guild, they gained 3,562 individual reputation with various figures. That meant that Tyler had to dish out a total of 35,620 credits as a reward. Each credit was worth it since it helped foster relationships with these senators and their systems.

Tyler also had an interesting conversation with Senator Palpatine of Naboo. The bastard was quite crafty. If Tyler did not know that Palpatine was a Sith Lord, he wouldn't have suspected that he was being sized up. Palpatine was clearly trying to measure the threat that Limitless would pose to his plans.

Before settling in for the night, he talked with the managers of each staff group to see how things went. After their meeting, it was determined that they would implement a few minor changes to help improve the results. He then sent out a message to his guild mates to be awake at 8AM. They had things to do before recruitment would start. Tyler also had a Senate Hearing to attend.

Exhausted, Tyler finally got into bed at 1AM. Without even taking off his clothing, he set the menu to sleep for 7 hours before knocking out.

Something interesting happened while he was sleeping. He dreamed! Sleeping in game was just like sleeping in real life except that you can do it on command.

Tyler woke up to the sun shining through his window. He reached over and grabbed the datapad that was on his bedside table. A few news headlines caught his eye.

"Breaking News: Chancellor and Senators Attend Dinner Party Hosted by Limitless"

"Influx of New Guilds Recognized by the Galactic Republic"

"Senate Hearing to be Held Today Regarding Kessel Joining the Republic"

He was not surprised. He had expected that players would finally get around to founding their guilds. However, they may already be too late. Limitless has already established its foundations in the Republic.

He then got out of bed and put on his starter clothing. He had it washed the previous night so that he would have something to wear.

At 8:30AM, the guild departed the hall to go purchase clothing for different purposes and some combat gear.

The group returned at around 11AM. In all, Tyler dished out about 50,000 credits for their purchases. For clothing, everyone got a second set of formal wear, a few casual outfits, a few pairs of comfort clothing, various types of shoes and boots, varying types of armor sets depending on their classes, and some new weapons. Since they are an officially recognized guild, they are able to procure weapons through legal channels.

For the guild officers, they purchased an additional few sets of formal wear since they will be attending functions more often than the other members. Lastly, the two Jedi purchased a few extra sets of Jedi garb. Tyler also purchased a ELG-3A Blaster Pistol, and an OWB (Outside the Waistband) Holster for it. It is the same one that Padme Amidala uses.

*Item Obtained: ELG-3A Blaster Pistol*

*Rank: Gold*

*Description: The ELG-3A was a lightweight, elegant, and functional hold-out blaster pistol designed for practical use and easy concealment. It was a small, sleek weapon with a polished chrome finish and a wooden grip, and fired green or blue bolts, as well as a stun setting. The slim blaster was fired using a snap trigger, which required a firm squeeze to prevent misfires. Refer to Injuries in the game manual for more information on damage.*

Tyler remembered that he never did any research into how damage works in the game. After looking through the section for Injuries in the manual, he understood.

Essentially, weapons do damage in game the same way they would in real life. If you were to shoot someone in a vital area, such as the head, they would be killed in one hit. In addition, damage done to non vital areas such as the arms or legs will cause injuries.

Melee weapons that can cut through materials can also do the same to body parts. If the resulting injury does not cause death to a player, it is permanent. It will not even regrow upon death. This means that a prosthetic would be required to replace it. Fortunately, the available prosthetics are equal to, if not better than, an organic part. This adds to the realism of the game.

All injuries to NPCs that can not be healed by a bacta tank or surgery are also permanent. However, their deaths are permanent unlike the players.

As they arrived back at the guild hall, he received a call from a Kuat Drive Yards representative. He was informed that his order was ready. Tyler responded saying that he would send his ȧssociates to retrieve the merchandise.

Tyler then went up to his suite to change into his new clothes after showering. He put on a fresh set of formal wear and a dressy pair of brown leather boots. He then concealed his new pistol in the holster under his jacket and allowed his lightsaber to dangle off of his hip.

As he was walking out of his room, he received a call from Khan.
