126 The riddle’s curse

Maldonius easily dodges my small fist as I punched forward. I can't even use this body to hit the fucker. Despite my innate desire to calm down and accept the current situation, something in my conscience was just refusing it.

I sighed deeply as the sound of another one of my joints popping back into place filled my ears.

Pop!

Pop!

Pop!

It sounded like a like a little kid stepping on bubble wrap. A muffled scoff sounded. I turned to see Maldonius cough in order to hide his laughter. I felt my face flush. This fucker sure was enjoying the situation.

I sighed before plopping down on the rickety wooden chair near the window. Now is not the time to whine and bitch about my shortcomings. I have to quickly assess the situation and solve the riddle. My eyes slid over to see Maldonius. His expression was serious as he looked out of the window. Almost as if he were about to find the cure for cancer.

I held my back as I forcefully stood up. My body yelling in protest.

"Is there something important outside?"

Maldonius looked at me with an expression that screamed, "this is serious". I gulped as he sighed and said.

"Yes something very important. Come over here."

I slowly walked over to the window and peered outside only to see three women gossiping next to the fruit stall. Confusion marred my features as I turned back to Maldonius.

"What the hell is so important?"

Maldonius looked at me in shock as he said with a straight face.

"How could you not see it? It's as clear as day!"

I squinted but again only saw the three women giggle like schoolgirls. At this point, I was annoyed.

Was this jerk just pulling on my leg?

"Maldonius where the hell is the important sight?"

Maldonius then pointed in the direction of the three women.

"The woman on the left is the source of importance."

I leaned slightly so that my face was squished against the window. The woman which Maldonius mentioned laughed as her green eyes sparkled. To be honest I didn't see what was so important. Is she a part of the riddle?

I continued to look at Maldonius in confusion. I'm not sure if it's because of my new form, but I was losing my patience way too quickly.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS SO IMPORTANT OUTSIDE?"

Maldonius stepped back in shock before regaining his composure. He cleared his throat before saying bluntly.

"The woman on the left has quite the rack doesn't she-"

Maldonius never finished that sentence. He laid on the floor groaning as he held his groin. My little leg cracking as I put it back in place. I then spit on the ground next to Maldonius as he trembled.

I suddenly felt hands wrap themselves around my ankle. I looked down to see Maldonius look at me with flushed cheeks and anticipating eyes.

"Please say that again my dear."

I raised my foot to step on him but stopped. I then sighed. Masochist wasn't the right word to describe him. Childish was better.

"Look Maldonius, you may be immortal and have all the time in the world, but as a fellow mortal I would like to finish these riddles as soon as possible so I could get on with my life. So could you please explain to me why I'm here? And in such a form to boot?"

Maldonius stopped trembling and slowly stood up. He winced.

"I can no longer have children thanks to you."

I opened my mouth to retort but shut it quickly. He wasn't even worth giving an answer at this point.

Maldonius sighed as he pulled a chair and plopped on it. He then combed back his long blonde hair.

"Well my dear, the story has been quite boring to our readers lately hasn't it?"

I nodded. The fucker wasn't lying. To be honest I'm still shocked that there are people reading this shit. I really appreciate it y'all. And so does the author.

"Now, apart from that fact, I have also gotten bored of these simple riddles. We are in the third floor of the ziggurat after all. Riddles should no longer be simple sentences but instead be a scenario. You must feel the emotions of those who wrote the riddles, and who have lived them. With that in mind, the riddles in this floor will not simply be paragraphs but scenarios. You must solve the scenario in the form which you fund yourself in. Right now you are in the scenario of a particular renowned astronomer. You must guess who he is and accomplish the task that he was not able to do so. After you do that, I will count the riddle solved and you will advance to the next riddle. Do you have any questions?"

I chuckled. I didn't simply have a question, I have complaints. Maldonius never disappoints in terms of creativity. I sighed. This is troublesome but this fucker had just made a big mistake.

I smiled as I turned to face Maldonius.

What he didn't know is the fact that I'm not only a history buff, but a History major in University. Guessing who I am is trivial. I could easily use the clues from my surroundings to put myself in the time period, let alone the exact year.

I then bowed and smirked as I said.

"I accept your challenge my good sir."

Maldonius smirked as he snapped his fingers.

"How interesting my dear, please do not disappoint me as I have high hopes for you."

I smiled.

The most thing I enjoy is proving people wrong so this fucker doesn't have to worry.

I then rolled up my large ass sleeves and breathed out. Let the guessing game begin.
