[Sound , Smell , Sight , consider them all host]

Caleb ran through plans within his mind weighing up each approach and the likely hood of detection, he could not afford to fail this one for his own efforts and pride.

Consoling himself with a mantra that rung out through nature & throughout the history of lifes existence.

Survival of the fittest.

Moving his body with a resolve founded on shaky ground he decided on the approach, as he observed the opening a few issues arose ,there was no clear cover on approach and the rabbit is sensitive to hearing so climbing was out of the questing for the added problems that poses ,the mud which slicked his flesh masked the smell and he needed to consider sight .

He needed to act quickly as if the rabbit scurried into the undergrowth there was no chance of capture it .

With one final breathe he positioned himself behind the rabbit and as he prepared it was as if the forest itself stilled, the ambient noises which percussed thought the forest stilled, the winds came to a holt, it was just Caleb and this lone rabbit, the play which has been happening throughout the start of time itself, hunter and the hunted .

Caleb waited until an opportune time getting impatient.

.

the rabbit started to groom itself while basking in a sunshaft which split the canopy

Caleb with a careful thought decided to move, with a methodical pace he picked up a small stone and approached with renewed intent and purpose, his face became stoic ,but with a slight hint of dismay.

Each step considered and with purpose, with the training he received used to the full extent, carefully judging the very angles he placed his feet, he considered the sight of this little animal and its cone of vision, he had a stone for a last-ditch diversion.

The horn was held slack in his right arm and a stone in his left .

Mason approached now only a few meters separated the two souls, his heart raised an everpercussive forcefull tune throughout his body as if in anticipation to the finale, with a careful raise of the horn which glinted in the sunlight the rabbit raised it head as if having a premonition, it looked back at Caleb

A moment which was only a second but it felt like an age for these two souls, this one second was where the play of the hunter and the hunted will reach climax, a time where a lapse in resolve could cost either side, for the rabbit, its life.

Caleb struck down as the rabbit, with a glint in its crimson eyes recognized the danger but far too late and couldnt react.

The horn struck down with splitting force and found itself slicked with the sanguine droplets.

"May you rest in peace little friend " Caleb said in a sad tone with a face of sadness, he knew the neccesity of this,he came to terms with it now ,he ever dreading this eventually but new the plays end ,with a heavy breath his face turned blank but with a slight grin of satisfaction.

[Congratulations on your first kill]
