While initially slow to catch on, as the series progressed, they became more popular and the royalties started coming in more quickly as he neared the end of the book. It was quite the novel experience to earn money from your writings alone, and a notable point of pride to be a published author.

The store and the books had been good to him and his family. It was only because of that fact that he was able to have such a big family to begin with.
