"You okay over there, man? You've been pretty quiet this morning," asked Miguel, using his cutter to flatten an empty box.

"Yeah, I guess. Today just started a little rough is all," answered Stephen as he picked up another case of juice to stock.

"Why's that? Did you have a late night? Do some drinking?" Miguel grinned, turning his attention back to the shelf to stock some Capri Sun containers. One case though, managed to slip out of grasp and hit the ground loudly.

Images filled Stephen's head almost instantly at hearing the sound: the tree, with the car wrapped around it. The look on Danny's lifeless face.

He forced himself to open his eyes, trying to get those images to leave his mind. Even though it had been two months, he still had those visions when he closed his eyes, or heard loud noises. Internally, he wondered if they would ever go away.

"Stephen?" Miguel stopped what he was doing and looked at him.

"Huh?"

"Did you even hear me? I asked if you were up late last night?" Miguel repeated.

"Oh," Stephen shook his head, "No, just couldn't sleep very well is all."

"That's it? Well, alright man. I'm was worried about you for a second," smiled Miguel.

Stephen forced a smile back, and then went back to work without a response. Even though he liked Miguel, they hadn't spent as much time together to really know each other like long time friends. It wasn't Miguel's fault that he didn't know him that well yet. Or that he didn't know him as well as Danny had.

Stephen shook his head again, trying to get that thought out. Luckily, they were both distracted by the girl who just walked around the corner.@@
