Chapter 181: The Ally

The story between Kaleyx and the Banshee Queen was quite weird.

It was a story of prey and predator, just a very twisted version.

If Jake had to guess, he would say that the banshee queen was confusing her previous life's needs, the need for a child warmth.

So, she probably mistook her daily talking with the egg for a hobby. Ultimately, her priority was to absorb the egg's life force. No matter how long she stalled, she chose to consume the egg.

It was her basic instincts as a banshee!

"Due to her 'teachings', I learned many things. One thing I learned was the ability to scan the body," divulged Kaleyx.

"You mean this?" asked Jake.

He took a second look at the papers and realized what was on them.

It was a multi-colored scan of his body!

He looked at it and frowned his face, "This?"

"I made two body scans while you were asleep. One is for the physical body. The other is for the mental mind," explained Kaleyx.

Taking one of the scans from his hand, she deciphered its content, "This is the body scans, showing ur framework. See this?"

She trailed her hand around what looked like Jake's skeleton.

"Yes. What do they mean?" questioned Jake.

There were small tiny holes in his bones. They were like the holes on a flute, except very tiny, tiny enough to be indiscernible by the normal eye.

"I don't know, but my guess is that it is a sign of instability. That would explain why you are physically weak," quipped Kaleyx.

She looked more curious than him at his scan.

Switching to the next one, she said in a serious tone, "Now this…..this is the really amusing one. Your mental scan. Can you see it?"

When Jake focused his mind on it, he saw a small perfect drawing of his head.

Inside of it was a faint sketch of his brain, but painted on it were a red and blue aura. The blue one was only a bit more than the red which concentrated on certain places.

"The blue signifies the normal aura, but the red, however, means something is bad," told Kaleyx.

She went on, "I don't need to tell you that it is growing like a mortal's brain tumor. I believe that it is also affecting your physical body. But this is just my conjecture made based on what I learned from my mother."

Normally, she wouldn't care about it, but it was a way to examine how much knowledge she had gotten from her mother was fruitful.

"You have a cure for this….mental deterioration, don't you?" sighed Jake.

He had always suspected something being wrong with his mind but never got a chance to visit a healer.

"Yes. Although I'm not an expert on herbs, by specifically searching for the effects instead, I can make something that can at least give you a chance of alleviating this problem," added Kaleyx.

If anything, she was the successor to a whole library worth of knowledge from the Weeping Town.

She continued, "Howev--"

"--What do you want?" Jake shot back.

He was more comfortable if she wanted anything.

"Simple. I want a truthful alliance and for you to be my escort of sorts, introducing me to this dimension," stated Kaleyx.

Jake asked, "I thought you knew a lot."

"I don't know much about this dimension, except for the basics," confirmed Kaleyx.

Jake placed his hands on his chin as he went into deep thoughts, 'An ally will prove useful. However, an ally that doesn't match with me won't, but she is a perfect match'

Closing his eyes, Jake finalized his thoughts. When he opened them back, he uttered, "Okay, but you will have to listen to me...at least, when necessary."

"I will ignore the listen part, but ok," smiled Kaleyx.

He uses the chance to ask her, "What cultivation level are you at?"

"Cultivation what?"

"Power level."

"Oh, I'm at the third realm," Kaleyx mouthed.

She gave Jake the answers he needed.

'[Realm 3]...' Jake analyzed.

He had heard of some people being attuned to the world before they are born. Most of them gain an innate cultivation realm while in their mother's womb.

Using Kaleyx as an example, she was currently at [Realm-3 Stage-1]. She had gotten there without any effort.

Jake understood this concept best as he had also attuned to the world. He had, however, used it to make his psychology just like the denizens of the world. If he had had more time, perhaps, he could have also been like Kaleyx or even way more powerful.

Looking at the light outside dimming, Jake understood the time of the day, "Get up. We are leaving. We will talk as we walk."

Naturally, Kaleyx got up and watched as he packed up the tent.

She couldn't help asking, "Where to?"

"To the main island, the Owl Island. That's where the bounty can be submitted and the prize can be given," spoke Jake.

As soon as he finished packing the tent, Jake brought out spare clothes from his [Spatial Ring] and wore them. He picked one of his spare rings and gave it to Kaleyx.

They both quickly started their journey to the Hunter's Den, the coast of the island.

On their way past the grassy plain, Jake asked her, "Are you planning on embarking on the [Healer Path]?"

"What's that?" questioned Kaleyx.

Jake minced his words, "Do you want to become a healer?"

"Hmmmm?...," piqued Kaleyx.

"Nevermind."

Jake rummaged through his [Spatial Ring] once again and brought out a big scroll.

It was a catalog indexing everything he stole from the Aztec Library.

Moving to the herbs section, he tried to remember the details of each herb as he had memorized them.

Some of them were even sold to merchants to provide him with extra coins.

After he was ready, he initiated a conversation, "What herbs do you need?"

"You have them?" eyed Kaleyx.

"I think so, just tell me," replied Jake.

Bringing her hand to her lips, she said, "Is there one with a trailing....."
