Chapter 169: [Revised Limitless Slash]

Moments ago.

The banshee queen was busy messing with the remnant of the humans that attacked her.

They refused to tell how they breached the array. Hence, she needed to scare them.

Despite killing one of the last two men, the other didn't spill out the method. He trembled in her presence, yet, when it came to what might save his life, he was firm.

However, he would never expect that the queen didn't need a method to break out of the array.

Once she consumed her precious egg, she would begin her first mutation as a banshee queen. This would give her enough power to break the array.

The humans' legend Caelein used [Holy Crystals] as a power source for the arrays. Over the decades, it would gradually lose power. So, the queen understood she was capable of damaging it, once she got her first mutation.

As a queen and a naturally inquisitive creature, the queen possessed a large amount of knowledge in her head.

She knew many things humans didn't know.

However, one of her many traits was her curious mind. This was why she was threatening the human in front of her.

She wanted to get every information she could get out of him. However, the human refused to talk, something that had never occurred for a while now.

This didn't make her angry. Instead, it made her more curious.

Trailing down her fingers on the man's face, she smirked.

Her widow-like face was probably extremely scary for the man to look at.

Finding a phrase that best described the situation, the queen chanted, "As timid as a gold-rat, yet, as courageous as the man that challenged the gods"

Playing with his skin, she dug her finger into his forehead and attempted to do a [Memory Read], one of her unique abilities.

However, she sensed something.

It was those banshees that lingered at her doorsteps. She had ignored it for a long time, but they were getting too disturbing.

She focused her face at the door, signaling her second-in-command, the wraith, to disperse the banshees.

Before he could move, objects coated in sharp lights were thrown into the room, and chaos finally descended.

.........…

*Boom!*

The sound of the explosion covered his ears, but Jake didn't think, he just ran.

His mind took him back to the days when he practiced his sword technique. It was almost the same situation happening now.

One, he was being impeded by a force. Right now, it was the force of the explosion, blowing away everything. Back then, it was the lake; he couldn't retain his balance on the water surface.

Two, he had limited time. Right now, he was under the element of surprise, but back then, sticking on the water surface had a time limit.

Three, his goal was absolutely wretched!

Back then, he had to execute more than five consecutive slashes while being standing on water. Right now, he had to kill the banshee queen and take her heart.

He had done this before!

It was all too perfect. Recently, Jake's experiences were far from perfect, but now, perfection was coming back to his life!

Taking his second step, he charged himself with the basic [lightning movement], the beginner technique for anyone walking the [Lightning Elemental Path].

It was the only movement technique he had, as his base speed made him faster than almost everyone he met.

Taking his third step, he accessed all the states he could enter, particularly the [Weapon Synchronization State].

He entered the familiar white and black world and could see the grey lines connecting him and the banshee queen!

Taking his fifth step, he began absorbing momentum and speed, along with the power of his two elements. He channeled them into his sword, preparing his attack technique in advance

When he took the last step that got him to the queen, he released everything!

His sword darted through the air, following the guiding grey lines that connected him and the queen.

He didn't need to murmur anything. It was his [Limitless Slash], or rather, his revised [Limitless Slash]!

It hadn't been up to two seconds since he had begun his movement. From the ignorant look on the banshee face, it seemed that she had not even caught his blur.

He watched, in slow motion, as his sword buried itself in the chest of the queen.

He watched as some of her ethereal blood splash on the strange egg behind her

He felt his sword passing through all her strange bones, but before it could get to the heart, all the sensations he previously felt disappeared.

'F*ckery,' cursed Jake.

Looking at the still ignorant transparent face of the queen, he realized that her body instincts had taken over.

After receiving a certain amount of injury, she activated the common ability of all incorporeal netherans and phased through Jake's sword, effectively guaranteeing her survival.

His slow-motion perspective came to a stop and everything rushed back to normal speed, Jake drew back his sword.

When he did that, he found himself staring face-to-face at the banshee queen.

Her eyes scoured him, but Jake felt too weak to distance himself. He had drained a quarter of his energy reserve, but the real problem lied in the over-exertion of his physical body.

From the corner of his [Akashic Eye], Jake saw it...…..

He saw it, but his body couldn't move.

It was the stretching leg of the banshee queen that aimed at him. The leg constantly shifted between its material state and incorporeal state, a trick from the queen.

However, it was not needed. Jake would need at least five seconds for his muscle to whip back to shape, and the leg attack didn't give him enough time.

It connected to his chest and sent him far away from the room. Jake smashed through different walls instantly. These were wales that would also be hard for warriors of his caliber to break.

Yet, the speed at which he was kicked away didn't give him a choice. His constant smashing sound kept echoing in the background, leaving his fate unknown!
