Chapter 30 - Origin Martial Technique [2]

A few minutes prior.

"I will contact you when I get a schedule for the endorsement. And take this." Ruby said before handing out a medallion, making it the third medallion at the hands of Lucas.

'Without noticing it, I may become a medallion collector,' he joked to himself then took the medallion.

"What's this for?" he asked.

"That's an embedded communication medallion. Not only did it give you the privilege of gaining access to any restricted shop in Morning City, but it could also be my way of contacting you," she explained.

Lucas understood it and nodded his head.

"Thank you. Then, this means that I will be leaving. Also, thank you for these robes you gave us. It's showing some decency." he uttered.

Ruby just scoffed softly, as if she was finding the situation enjoyable.

"You are such a mindful person, young boy, ~"

"Shut up, please. I just let you call me that earlier since I thought you were really a 'he'. Now it feels weird when you are saying it with that kind of sexy appearance." he hissed.

"Sorry…~ I get it. I will change it, young bo-! Lucas! Hehe." she said then pretended to scratch her right temple.

"Okay then. It's okay. I will surely don't act humble since you said that you gave this to us." Lucas mentioned again the new garments they are wearing.

Lucas was wearing a robe in a light blue color with white linings. While Felicity was wearing a slightly pink robe with black linings.

A few seconds later, Lucas decided to leave the shop. He looked at Ruby once again and then said his farewell.

"Thank you, Ruby, for the opportunity to learn something new," he said, making Ruby raise her eyebrow in a dazed expression.

"What do you mean?" she asked for her curiosity.

"Nothing. Never mind. We will take our leave then." he said with Felicity following her outside the shop.

"Okay," Ruby said before they took their last step outside the shop.

When they looked back to the shop, they were surprised when the shop was now a vacant building.

Felicity trembles her lips as her eyes twitch in confusion, trying to build up the words. What just happened? It was something that couldn't be easily achieved in Mortal Heaven. Or was it she just didn't expect it.

However, Lucas returned to his senses and continued to walk away from the building.

"Although these things are common for me, I was still surprised since mystical arts are considered as a feat for cultivators," he mumbled after going to the cultivators' shop district to look for a martial technique for his cultivation.

***

Lucas took the technique and faced Felicity, inquiring about what he should buy too since he was obviously ignorant of what a cultivator should have.

Thinking of it, Felicity inspected Lucas with her eyes glowing in purple colors. When Lucas saw it, he eventually asked her about it.

"This…? It's aptitude inspection. I haven't done this before with you, so this might be a chance." she said while they were walking through a line of shelves in an unknown section.

"You can use your eyes for different things?" he asked since he also didn't expect that, aside from the passive abilities of the body, there was also a way to use the eye in a different way. As if it was like the ability of his eyes.

Though he can use his eyes in different ways, he bothers not to activate them since they mess with his natural senses. For example, an ability to see through mana circuits. He can look at every person's mana circuit. However, what he can only see is the passage of energy, not the person itself.

'Really… What a similarity! My previous world can use magic in martial arts, but they basically don't focus on it. Instead, they just use mana to exceed the human capabilities.' he pondered while admiring the world in which he is currently standing.

'If only I could tell my story to Felicity. However, if she could only remain calm after I said it. What a problem! I can't fully unseal my foreseeing ability and worse it's unstable and useless.' he added.

"Lucas?"

Lucas finally snapped back to reality and realized he just wondered for a number of seconds. He just let out an awkward smile.

"Did you listen to my explanation?" Felicity asked in a little irritated tone.

Lucas felt agitated since he really didn't listen to her. Did she even explain it? He obviously didn't listen to it.

"What were you talking about again?" he asked in a reluctant manner with his hands slightly scratching his nape.

Felicity sighed that she was right all along. Lucas wasn't really listening to her.

"I see… then I'll just have to explain it one more time," she mumbled.

Then, she continued while still holding her eyebrows down, glaring at Lucas.

"You don't have an aptitude for any weapons. However, you have an aptitude for generic martial techniques. And the origin martial techniques is one of them. It was lucky enough to see this treasure in this realm." Then she sighed.

"Generic martial technique?" Lucas unconsciously mumbled.

"Generic martial techniques are something common. For example, a punch is generic and every person with arms can punch. However, not everyone can hit accurately with a punch. Thus, martial techniques exist to enhance the capability of a generic attack."

"And obviously, this means that you don't have any specific talents for any weapons, which also means that you can't use them accordingly. Thus, a normal martial technique is only what's best for you. Even if you use a sword, if you know this technique, you can turn it into a sword technique, since you don't know any sword techniques. Do you get it?"

Lucas didn't immediately answer her question as her explanation was contradictory.

Felicity said he doesn't have any aptitude for any weapons. Thus, it also means that he doesn't have any talents for any weapons. However, she said that he has an aptitude for generic martial techniques, and it also means that by using such techniques, even if he uses a sword, he can convert the technique to a sword technique. Does it even make sense?

Lucas couldn't understand what Felicity was saying. There are loopholes in her explanation, making him demand another one, but briefer and clearer.

Felicity just sighed after realizing it was hard for Lucas.

"You don't have talents for swords, thus, even if you practice sword technique, you can't still use it. But in rare instances, even if a person can't use a sword properly, using a particular technique, they can perform an amazing way of using swords in the eyes of others, but to themselves, they are just following the martial technique and don't really have a talent for it."

Lucas remained silent. He felt that he understood the explanation slowly.

So, it basically means that for people to have an aptitude for generic martial techniques, they must be talentless with any weapons. Furthermore, they could use weapons easily if they knew the technique, but in reality, they were just copying what the technique says.

A question emerged from Lucas's head, expressing it to Felicity.

"If a sword practitioner practices generic martial techniques, what will happen?" he asked, but he was answered immediately by Lucas.

"It's impossible since they have a talent for swords. Which means they can't embed the technique into their foundation. "

Thus, from that explanation, Lucas learned that techniques have compatibilities.. Furthermore, you can't simply learn techniques since they must be embedded in your foundation, also points to your dantian.
