Chapter 196 - She Collapsed

With a gun fire, the gates of each lane got thrown open.

And, soon the galloping sound of the eight horses filled the air.

With a renewed energy, everyone has tried their level best to take the lead in the neck to neck competition, however, the unique shape of the race course has indeed made it challenging for the ladies.

Whoeverhad the perfect insight and keen control on their horses could only make it their best  And, unlike the first competition, the leading sequence took a slight turn.

Olivia was as usual on the first, looking quite attractive and elegant on her black Arabian horse. Following her, Katherine was not too far away. One could see that she is trying so hard to outrun Olivia, but her horse's maximum capacity is not as significant as Olivia's wild horse.

Moreover, Katherine is feeling insecure and restless to concentrate, because of her other opponent, Brina, who is not too far away and has quite a good share to outrun her.

However, not visible to the naked eye, it is not quite seen that she is facing a problem with her horse. She could sense that her horse is losing its consistency and also the firmness of its legs.

The legs have started buckling slightly…It is obvious for her that this is Olivia's deed and Brina is also aware that she will not win the race.

After covering quarter of the distance, her horse started slowing off, resulting in Kiara to take a lead. In addition to this, Brina didn't want to exert more pressure on this poor horse.

As it got confirmed that Olivia drugged the horse's food, instead, Brina is more than aware that this horse would suffer if she pushed it's capacity any further. And, knowing the horses, she is not oblivious of what is going to happen.

Her horse will soon stumble and fall. Brina is also considerate enough that she slows her speed to minimize the impulse of fall.

"Louis, what the hell is happening? Did you notice that Brina is actually slowing the horse?" Daniel whispered as he shifted his eyes from binoculars to Louis who had a slight frown marred on his face.

He is not growing because Brina is about to lose, but it is because he has seen past of what is going to happen.

Now, it started worrying him and all he could wish for was Brina's safety. He doesn't want her to fall and get injured. It would eat up his heart and swallow him with a guilty conscience.

Meanwhile, Olivia who has just covered the three fourth of the race course, arrived at the intersection of tracks.

She couldn't help but smirk when she saw Brina in fourth position. If not due to her plan, Olivia knew that Brina would have won this competition as well.

To be frank, she didn't even expect Brina to finish half of the race. She must have really been the finest horsewoman to be able to handle the horse which was drugged to lose its strength and conscious mind.

"Charlotte, Brina is going to lose" Hailey pouted.

"I think she knows what is happening" Charlotte commented, her words laced with unfathomable emotions.

Fuck Olivia…!!

'Please be safe, Brina. Hell with these competitions, love. All I need is 'safe' you' Louis whispered and even before the last word could escape his lips, a sudden gasp from everyone made him almost skip a beat.

Brina and her horse have fallen down.

Her Hungarian, golden horse just stumbled and it's legs buckled that they got folded.

Given with it's speed, both of them have fallen down with quite a force. After rolling two to three times, Brina fell down on the grass, not too far away from the horse which was in pain.

Thanks to Brina that it didn't face the fatal fall.

However…

However…

One could see that Brina is not conscious anymore. Thanks to the protection gear she wore, it is just the sudden force of the fall that made her lose consciousness.

Except for that she is fine…

She might have sprained her leg, ankle chance...

Brina had actually thought that this horse would hold a little more, but to her distraught, it suddenly stumbled right at the curvy corner of the race course.

That was indeed a dangerous turn and even before Brina could make her move, the horse had suddenly crumbled down..

This was indeed surprising to her and in that hurry, Brina's immediate instinct is to save the horse. As she is wearing protective gear, the worst case scenario would only be falling unconscious for her, but for the horse it could cost it's innocent life.

So, Brina could only make this call. Who could blame her when she always had a soft corner for innocent animals… mainly horses and dogs.

In that very moment, Olivia has also reached the end line. And, even before anyone could comprehend what had just happened, the medical staff hastily ran into the racecourse.

They immediately removed Brina's helmet but keeping the very important rule in their mind, they didn't remove her mask.

They just made sure there was no external bleeding and then only they shifted her into a stretcher before hurrying her into the building for further treatment.

Everythinghappened just in a span of minutes, that everyone was dumbfoundedly rooted in their place, standing stiff as they peeked into the race course not sure how this accident had happened.

However, Louis was the one who was more shocked and extremely guilty. He could feel the stinging pain in his heart. It was as if a thousand needles were pricking his heart.

His mind is blank and the only thing that is flashing in his mind is Brina's previous accident, a murder attempt by her uncle family.

How she was lying on the bed, unconscious and wrapped in bandages. Her pale face, withered lips, her bruises... everything flashed back the painful memories of his only love.

A tear rolled down his left cheek, just in the right time for his father, King Edgar to notice.
