67 The Truth 2

There was a moment of silence between us. Shawn let all the information sync inside his mind.

"We have to tell the police. We have to tell them what they have done to you. They have to pay for the crime they have done." Shawn said.

I sighed and shook my head. "Even if we say that now I don't have any evidence to prove my statement. It has been 8 years now. The law can't help me now. That's why I'm getting the law with my own hands. I will get my revenge myself."

Shawn looked at me tenderly. He reached out his hand and caressed my cheek. "If that's what you want then I'll support you. I will help you if you need anything. They have also done me wrong and also to our unborn child. I will make them pay."

I held the hand caressing my cheeks and gently lifted it off. I held it firmly.

"Thank you Shawn. But you don't have to walk this dark path." I let go of his hand.

I can see his pained face. "No, Jill. I will make sure they will pay for what they did to us." He said with conviction. "Then will you forgive me? For being ignorant all this time."

I smiled at him. "I forgive you." His mouth curved up slightly. "But we can't get back to what we were before."

Shawn looked surprised.

"I'm sorry Shawn but I can't see you the way like before. The pain and hurt has been buried too deep in my heart. We didn't have any closure and 8 years passed. It has been so long that I think it can't be repaired that easily."

I look at his face. Sadness and pain is evident in them.

"But I am willing to start over and be your friend. Shawn we have been friends since childhood and I don't want to throw that away. It's just that my heart has someone else now."I lowered my head. "I'm sorry."

Shawn was silent. I didn't have the courage to look up at him.

"Is it him? Your step brother?" Shawn asked with a low voice. It didn't have anger in them but sadness.

I look up at him and saw tears in his eyes. My heart clenched in sadness for him. I simply nodded to answer his question.

Shawn wiped away his tears. "I understand." He forced a smile. "He has been by your side to your tough times. I'm sure he will keep you safe at least." He smiled sadly.

"I'm sorry Shawn." I looked at him sadly, tears also started to fall from my eyes.

"It's okay. This is my defeat." Tears were still falling and he was wiping them. "At least we can still be friends. But Jill I will be in on your plans. I am serious on that. I will be your ally." He looks at me seriously.

"Okay. I will tell you everything." I said.

Shawn smiled. "I will always be here for you. If Troy makes you cry I will surely take you away from him, remember that okay." He jokingly said and chuckled. He wiped away my tears. I giggled.
