Chapter 156: Nameless beings Part1

Reinvigorated by Minzhe's exhibition of his awakened ability, the leader scrambled to his feet and tried to take back the reins of the situation. "Keep firing! Don't stop!"

"Our ammunition will last longer than their mana. Remember what we trained for. Without mana their awakened powers are useless."

"Focus. Focus. Keep moving and dodge. Anticipate their attack pattern. We can do this."

Yahe screamed at the top of his lungs and singlehandedly tried to keep up the troop's morale. Everything had gone wrong. Nothing was happening the way they had planned.

And as if responding to their increased coordination and morale, the attacks from the other side had also slowed down tremendously.

The number of ice bullets and fireballs became lesser and lesser until the attacks finally stopped altogether.

"I knew it! They are completely out of mana!" Yahe shouted in excitement and the other soldiers in the group also rejoiced.

"Come out now. Idiots. It's already over! So why are you still putting on this show?"

He arrogantly looked at the tall thick trees and the messy brambles and bushes surrounding them and shouted.

It was obvious that the enemy was hiding here. If not here, then where else?

Things might have taken a slight unforeseen detour and their troops might have suffered a small setback with slight injuries here and there, but ultimately there was only one possible outcome.

In front of their combined power and strength, that small group of weaklings did not stand any chance at all.

"Come out now! Hmph!" Yahe wiped the blood leaking out of the corner of his mouth and gruffly muttered. His voice was icy and his demeanor was intimidating.

It was clear that he would not be going easy on anyone even if they surrendered now.

The entire place was eerily quiet and his commanding voice resounded in the air, making it even more domineering. Yahe looked around and grimaced.

He opened his mouth and shouted again. "Get the fuck…

THUD. THUD. THUD. THUD.

THUD. THUD. THUD. THUD.

One by one everyone who was previously standing was now on the floor. It didn't matter if they were simply mutated or had awakened special abilities.

Everyone was simply down and listless in less than a fraction of a second as if something had wiped them all out at the same time.

Yahe blinked dumbfoundedly. His mouth hung wide open, his words still left unfinished. All the men who were standing around him were suddenly dropping down around him like flies?

Were they even alive? Or were they all… dead?

Yahe shuddered slightly and before he could blink again, he felt a sharp pain in his neck and he found himself lying on the ground as well.

However, unlike others, he was still conscious for some reason. He grimaced and kept himself awake as the back of his head was throbbing with pain.

Before long, dull footsteps echoed, and a pair of feet walked closer to him. Yahe strained his neck up to see who it was, only to smile bitterly. "Youu…" He muttered weakly.

"Don't strain yourself too much." Lu Chen clicked his tongue. "Tsk. Tsk. You can't even handle one single hit and you wanted us to surrender?"

Beside him, Alex lightly kicked the man aside and picked up the weapons on his body. "You could have just left us alone."

Yahe sighed and closed his eyes. His body felt so heavy that he was completely helpless.

He knew that he was completely at the mercy of these people now. In fact, every single one of his men was. He had no idea how things had come to this.

They had been hunting weird creatures and monsters non-stop for the past few days.

They had grown several times stronger than any human being could possibly imagine and yet they were overpowered without the other party even lifting a finger.

How could this even be possible?

Arghh… He groaned in pain as he tried to move his hand.

He could feel that the woman who had frisked him hadn't yet taken out his walkie-talkie and all he needed to do now was to press a button so that he could alert the others.

Although the two standing in front of him were exceedingly strong, they were after all just two in number. Not everything was lost just yet.

Perhaps… just perhaps... if he could somehow let others know…

As Yahe flinched and writhed on the ground, Lu Chen narrowed his eyes observing the man's actions. "There is no use in struggling now."

"You are only alive right now because I decided so. So stop trying these useless things and listen. Where the fuck is your so-called commander?"

Huh? Commander? Yahe froze as his mind hazily realized something. Why could the person in front of him possibly be asking this question?

There was only one answer and it was obvious.

From the beginning, it seemed that these people had never aimed for their single team. Their goal was to take over the entire base!

While they had been planning to take over and force their group into joining, the other party had also been after the same thing?!

How ridiculous! What audacity!

Yahe chuckled wryly and coughed out. "Just because I am weak, doesn't mean that… you have no idea how strong our team…"

Bang! Something metallic moved fast, glinting under the moonlight, and struck Yahe's head before he could finish his words.

"Heh. This is why trash will always be trash. You should not have spoken about things that you had no right to talk about." An arrogant voice sounded and a group of men walked over.

Lu Chen and Alex quickly moved a few steps back. Though this was not something they had expected, it was also not enough to rattle them.

The two calmly observed the men standing in front of them.

They were dressed similarly to the other troops lying down on the ground unconscious and yet there was something different about them.

Cough. Cough. Cough. Yahe hacked out a couple of mouthfuls of blood as the blow just now had harmed him more than the blow earlier to his neck.
