Azazel had called Barakiel to investigate Satanael's group. After so many years, they had finally found clues to their location.

Satanael and his students, Abyss Team.

Abyss Team, also known as Nephilim Abyss and Those who Fell into the Abyss is an organization comprised of individuals with fierce Sacred Gears.

Each and every member of the Abyss Team has brutal Sacred Gears, which are not as powerful as the Longinus or even High Tier Sacred Gears but have some irreversible side effects.

What's worse is the personality of these boys and girls who are part of the Abyss Team. Like their Sacred Gears, their minds seem to be corrupted and deviant. That's why Grigori labelled them as dangerous and united them in a class under the most "sensible" teacher.

Who would have thought that Satanael would betray them...

In the end, the place where Grigori's traitors were believed to reside was nothing more than a decoy made by Satanael and his people.

When Barakiel returned home, he expected to be greeted once more by his beautiful wife and daughter. He loved those two women too much, and they were his most important supporters.

Who would have thought that after thousands of years, a human woman would become the pillar of his life?

He felt that something strange was happening. Barakiel felt uneasy, and this feeling was heightened when a smell of iron entered his nose.

"Aaaaah!"

That scream...

The voice from which the scream came was one that he himself had heard day after day for just over a decade.

"Mamaaa!"

Same scream again.

Now Barakiel had no doubt, that voice came from his daughter Akeno. Barakiel did not hesitate and threw himself into the Shrine.

He could not believe what was inside it.

There were many people inside, but they were all of no importance to Barakiel. The only thing that could enter his vision was the bloody body of his wife, Shuri.

"Shuri!"

Barakiel couldn't believe it. He had only been gone from his home for a few hours, how could this have happened?

He... he had promised that he would always protect Shuri and Akeno from danger.

But now, Shuri was dead in front of him.

"Argg... Aaaaaah!"

Barakiel let out all the anger and sadness that was compressed into that scream. He looked around and saw all the people gathered there.

They were many, they could be in their thirties, but they were all very weak. In fact, he saw a few bodies covered in blood lying in the hallway, probably the work of Shuri, obviously dead.

Shuri's body was covering Akeno's, Barakiel was clear on what he had to do now.

Protect his daughter and avenge Shuri.

With that thought in mind, Barakiel began sending lightning bolts to the people inside the Shrine.

These guys were very weak and were instantly eliminated by Barakiel.

Once they were all dead, he approached Shuri's inert body.

But someone got in his way.

"Akeno..."

It was his daughter, Himejima Akeno, who stood between him and his dead wife.

"Don't you dare come near Mommy!"

She was looking at him with hate. Like she was looking at a monster.

"It's your fault! It's your fault Mom's dead! Weren't you going to protect us forever? Why did Mom die? It's your fault! It's because of these dirty wings that they wanted to kill Mom! Get out! Die!"

......

"Shuri!"

Barakiel opened his eyes. In front of him was the wall of his room, that wall he saw every time he got up in the morning.

"Shhh"

A soft finger landed in his mouth, and another hand dragged him to the bed. Barakiel turned and saw his young wife lying beside him.

"You idiot, you'll wake up your daughter."

Barakiel pinched his cheek and proved that this was real.

Yes, this was his wife. She was the same person he had fallen in love with all those years ago.

"Big man, are you crying?"

Shuri ran her hand across Barakiel's face, erasing all trace of tears.

"A nightmare."

Barakiel answered honestly. Such was his character, he was direct and never hesitant. That was Barakiel, "the lightning of God".

"Ara-ara, aren't you too old to be having nightmares?" Shuri said to him with a provocative look.

Barakiel was silent, not responding to Shuri. This worried her, fearing that Barakiel had not caught the joke once more.

"I'm joki-"

"Can I really protect you forever, Shuri? And Akeno?"

Shuri was about to explain when Barakiel interrupted her. Shuri looked at her husband's worried look, guessing what sort of nightmare her husband had had.

As much as she wanted to answer her husband that nothing bad was going to happen to them with him near, Shuri could not. If anything really did happen to them, Barakiel would regret it even more.

"It's useless to think about that, we each do what we can, and we can't do more than our best. If with our maximum effort we don't achieve the goal, it means it's simply not your destiny to do so." Shuri said as she stroked Barakiel's chest, red marks from the previous night still visible on the Cadre's chest.

"For now, get up. You have to get ready to go to Nephilim, those children are waiting for you,"

Barakiel nodded and rose from his bed. He followed his normal workday preparation process and completed it to the letter.

That's how he was, a serious man.

Just as he was preparing to leave, a sound came through the Shrine.

Knock-knock

Confused, expecting no visitors at this hour, Barakiel prepared to open the door. He tensed as he felt several powerful auras, albeit much weaker than his own, but relaxed as he sensed who they really were.

"What are you doing here?" Barakiel asked as he opened the door.
