Chapter 216 - Revealed Secrets

"I have to survive!"

Kyle gritted his teeth as he endured the pain that is slowly killing his body. He's only 16 years old and he still wanted to accomplish many things.

He wanted to become an Arcane Explorer and discover new worlds. He wanted to become really strong capable of fighting against legendary creatures like dragons and phoenixes.

"I CAN'T DIE YET!"

As he felt his consciousness fading away, Kyle shouted at the top of his lungs as he wanted to stay conscious. He felt that if he passed out now, there was no way he would wake up ever again.

"Amazing vitality, kid… You're safe now." As Kyle felt he was about to be consumed by the foreign Aura, he heard a calm voice whispering to his ears as the pain slowly fades away.

"T-thank…" Kyle wanted to thank whoever healed him but he could no longer stay conscious.

However, before he passed out, he still heard the man whispering a few words…

"I didn't think that the elemental eye also has this effect…"

Kyle opened his eyes and immediately checked his surroundings.

'Am I in a hospital?' Kyle noticed the apparatus connected to him and other medical equipment monitoring his health condition.

He seemed to be in a private ward as he heaved a sigh of relief. He then checked his arms and legs and confirmed that nothing was missing. He didn't mind that he lost about 10 pounds of weight as long as he was alive and could recover.

He didn't know how much time had passed so he quickly checked the digital clock.

December 25, 2130.

'Several days have already passed.' Kyle looked at the window and sighed.

He's not expecting anyone to visit him at all since he's already living alone as his parent died about two years in a traffic accident.

Right now, he's unsure what to do and he's even worried about the payment for the hospital. Although he has some after inheriting his parent's money, he still has a lot of expenses since he wanted to receive training from the best Arcane Explorers once he was awakened. Aside from that, he also didn't want to be tied to any guild so he wanted to purchase his own Artifacts with his money.

Needless to say, purchasing Artifacts can be really expensive so he needed to save his money. After all, there is no part-time job that would allow him to easily save money to buy an Artifact while he hasn't awakened yet.

Knock! Knock!

A couple of knocks on the door was heard before the door to his room opened.

"Mr. Silvers, how are you feeling?"

The nurse asked as soon as he saw Kyle staring at her. Since an apparatus is connected to Kyle, the nurses could tell whether he's already awake or not.

"Aside from feeling weak, I think I'm alright. Thank you for saving me."

Kyle humbly replied as he gave a weak smile.

"Well, you were just unconscious the whole time. You weren't in a life-threatening situation when you were brought here."

The nurse replied as she slowly checked Kyle's condition.

"That's right… How did I get saved? I'm sure that Aura Poisoning is difficult to cure. People only have about 15 minutes… if nothing was done in that duration, I could've died…" Kyle asked. He also wanted to know what happened to his classmates by asking this question.

"Ha~ You're lucky. One of the rescuers who went to your shelter is actually one of the Association's secret S-Rank Awakened. He was posing as A-Rank Awakened all this time but had no choice but to reveal his true rank after seeing the situation you guys are in. I'm not exactly sure how he managed to deal with all forty of you at the same time but people said that he has a glowing left eye when he cured all of you."

"S-Rank Awakened? What's his name? I need to thank him."

Kyle knows how rare the S-Ranks are so he truly felt that he was indeed lucky at that time. Aside from that, thousands of people die every year because of Aura Poisoning throughout the whole world. It wouldn't be surprising that some of them would die at that point. However, that man actually managed to save all of them?

He wanted to know which Awakened is capable of doing such a feat.

"His name is Cyril Vermont. Even if you check online, there are only a few things about him. He has close ties with the Association, that's most of it. Hmm… Alright, my checks are done. You seem to be fine. You just need to recover for a while. I will need to call the doctor, Mr. Silvers."

"Yes. Thank you." Kyle replied as he made sure to remember his name.

It is all the same with the other students who thought that they would die at that time.

Now, the name Cyril Vermont is deeply imprinted to their hearts.

***

At the Forbes Park Subdivision, Cyril is staring at their backyard tree while his right hand is covering his right eye.

"Hmm… It's not working. How did I use it again?"

Cyril muttered as he suddenly can't use his Elemental Eye again. Previously, he managed to use it on students suffering from Aura Poisoning. He was about to accept Xagan's offer to help at that time but because he unknowingly activated that Eye, he decided to just use its powers since he had the feeling that he could use it against the Aura Poisoning.

By using his Elemental Eye, he managed to see the foreign Aura wrecking havoc inside their bodies. Not only that, he could even control that foreign Aura to calm down and leave their bodies!

This is too mysterious for Cyril since he also knows that even the Dragons respected his Elemental Eye. They have decided to make it easy for him to get the Fruit of Life because of it.

"Xagan… I'm at a loss. Tell me how can I properly use the Elemental Eye. I want to know all its secrets."

Cyril asked decisively.

He's no longer worrying about his life span so he decided to splurge a bit more. Anyway, the Elemental Eye's secret is very important to him in the first place.

"It's about time you ask about that, Contractor. You only need to spend 1 year and all of its secrets will be your, Contractor."

Xagan replied with an excited tone. Apparently, even if he had extended his life, Xagan didn't think too much of it and just acted the same way before.

Initially, Cyril thought that Xagan would hate it. However, it seems that he's thinking too little of him.

"It's still expensive… I know that you won't lie about the prices but why would you take that much? I thought it's only expensive if you use your powers? Don't you have stock knowledge about this?"

"What? I'm not an omniscient being, Contractor. I'm still unaware of this Elemental Eye. I will still have to use my power to know it. So, deal or no deal?"

Xagan asked as he spread out his arms.

"Alright… I'm not getting anywhere, tell me what it is…"

"Good decision."

Then, Cyril felt the same sensation as part of his life was taken again.

Suddenly, he saw the Demon's projection become silent. It was then followed by a cold sensation in his left eye. It only lasted for a second but he surely felt it. It's definitely not an imagination.

"Your Elemental Eye is even more interesting than I initially thought." Xagan finally spoke.

Cyril didn't say anything as he just wanted to listen for now.

"You're no fun, Contractor. Anyway, the new Eye given to you by those spirits is not simple indeed. No wonder the Dragon emphasized that it is called Spirit's Elemental Eye before."

Cyril nodded at this as he recalled the words of the Tree.

"Your Elemental Eye has the power to see the Aura or any Energy capable of controlling the Elements. The Elements themselves have no sentience… but because of the Aura or whatever Energy it is, they can be controlled. I think you don't need me to explain how important it is to see the invisible Aura, right?"

Xagan said.

"Yes… But that doesn't explain why the Dragon gave me a preference and what's about it being Spirit-given."

"Well, your Spirit's Elemental Eye is very special, Contractor. It seems that it can allow you to learn the Dragon Magic so they made exceptions for you. They must be thinking that it would be fun if a human learned the Dragon Magic. I'm only guessing since I can't read their mind. However, you can indeed learn Dragon Magic by using your left eye. Controlling elements is also possible thanks to that."

"Dragon Magic? I can't even master the Barbaric Impaler's Aura Technique yet. Anyway, how about its activation? Why is it so hard?" Cyril asked in exasperation.

"That's simple, Contractor. Your Elemental Eye can't be triggered just by using your mind or your Aura."

"What? Then is it by heart? My emotion?" Cyril asked vaguely understanding Xagan.
