Chapter 151 - Corruption

"Amaris, the redeemer of souls, the benevolent Corruptor, I ask of you in your name… Guide us so we can be strong once more. Anoint us with your illustrious wisdom. Sustain us with your gracious flame!"

The underground prison was now filled with the praying voices of the Beastmen.

There's a total of 155 beastmen within this underground cell. All of them are prisoners of war. Now, they have turned into Corrupted Beastmen serving the newbie Corruptor.

"Magenta, did you teach them that prayer? Isn't that a bit cringe?" Cyril asked after hearing them repeatedly voice their prayers.

'Redeemer of souls? Benevolent Corruptor? Where did that come from?'

"Master, you don't have to mind the details, that's just some ritual so they can fear and respect my name… Lower life forms like them needed that as their pillar of support in case they met troubles. You will understand that someday."

"Ugh… Fine. So, can they remove their chains now?" Cyril asked as he looked at the Beastmen.

Aside from their bodies regaining some muscles, their eyes glowed with red light.

Unlike the humans who were previously corrupted by Azennon, these guys didn't turn purple-skinned. They mostly retained their previous appearance.

"Yes, Master. Are we going out now? Do you want me to release them?"

"Ohh, I guess… not. There are too many of them. It's not like we're planning to destroy the Snake Clan now. We'll further investigate the situation. We need to know the situation of that Ancient Artifact first."

"I understand, Master."

If he released the prisoners now, he might really be able to destroy the Snake Clan's City. However, he can't find the benefit of doing that yet.

Anyway, now that they have Demonic Energy flowing into their bodies, these Corrupted Beastmen wouldn't easily die of starvation. He can leave them here for a few weeks without being worried about their situation.

"Magenta… Unlock the door for me."

"Yes, Master."

The demoness cat then flicked her paws as a wave of black energy reached the locks of the prison cell. After a few clicks, the door was finally unlocked.

"Tell them to stay here and act normally once the guards entered this place again. I will send them out once we know the situation outside."

Magenta did as Cyril mentioned.

The Corrupted Beastmen accepted the order as they started relaxing their bodies… Some of them even started training their bodies by doing some pushups.

Because they have suddenly received some power within their bodies, many of them were a bit uncomfortable and they have to get used to it.

Soon, Cyril arrived at the last wooden door or the final checkpoint of this prison. It took him 20 minutes to arrive here.

"This is a lot easier than I expected. I guess they're not expecting that someone would be able to escape from that chains." Cyril thought as he steadied his breathing.

Apparently, this underground structure wasn't just built for the underground prison. There are other facilities built underground!

Using his Traceless Scarf and Elven Boots, he managed to avoid most of the guards. As for the others, he had to put them asleep.

"Hmm?"

As he arrived at the last door, he then realized that they are indeed at the underground prison located at the center of the Snake Clan's City.

He peeked at the small hole at the door and noticed two guards lazying around. Aside from that, Cyril can already hear the bustling city outside!

The final door is actually connected to the guardhouse in the central part of the city!

'I can just probably put them to sleep. Ugh… It's difficult. One mistake and everyone outside will know something off. It should be fine killing them.' He analyzed the situation carefully.

Anyway, Cyril had no issues opening the door after noticing that there are no Arrays placed on them just like the others. The Snake Clan is probably incapable of using the Arrays in the first place.

With this in mind, Cyril no longer hesitated and opened the door through Magenta's help.

The guards were immediately alerted as they quickly touched their weapons on their waist.

That door can only be opened from the outside and they made sure to lock it up!

There was no way for it to open just like that!

"You—"

"Someone's—"

They didn't finish their words as Cyril swiftly threw a couple of Goblin Daggers.

It was perfectly timed so they didn't manage to put up a defense.

Thud! Thud!

The two bodies dropped to the floor.

Though it created some noise, it shouldn't be enough to alert the people outside. He then locked the door again and took the bodies of the beastmen inside his storage space.

Anyway, they will just probably think that the two guards left their post to do something else… hopefully.

Whisshh~

He looked outside and noticed that it just started raining.

'Lucky…'

Cyril smiled as he decided to take one of the hooded cloaks hanging at the wall. With this, he can hide his appearance.

'Ugh… A Snake Clan's insignia?' Cyril noticed that the cloak was embroidered with the Snake Clan's flag.

He can easily guess it since there's a three-headed snake drawn on it. He can only hope that this is a common thing on someone's cloak.

As soon as he came out of the guardhouse, he found himself near the training ground of the Snake Clan's city guards.

The people that he heard a while ago were actually other guards who just finished their training and resting at the side.

Luckily, they returned to their training in the field even though it's raining.

He swiftly left the place and run in the direction where he can feel a huge gathering of people.

As expected, he finally arrived at the real bustling streets of the city.

This time, he had to gather information about the whereabouts of the Ancient Artifact!

Unfortunately, Kaede and the others barely know anything about the location of the Conqueror Staff so he has to search for it first.
