Chapter 77 - Spellbook

Somehow, Cyril slept really well after his night chat with Naomi.

He woke up early in the morning and is now headed to the Awakened Association…

It was almost eight in the morning when he arrived at the front door of the Association's Building.

"Cyril! It's you… So you're joining today's exploration?"

A familiar female voice called him so he immediately looked behind.

"Miss Vanessa, good morning." Cyril greeted after recognizing the woman. She's Vanessa Strauss, the daughter of the current president of the Awakened Association.

Her pretty face, fair skin, long black hair, and even paired with her bewitching azure eyes, weren't something that Cyril could easily forget after seeing her closely.

She's wearing a simple black dress allowing her to give off an endearing charm.

He had met her informally in the building before when he took his Awakened License Exam. Though he forgot what Awakened Rank she was, he has to be respectful in front of her since she should be older by 5 to 7 years and she also has a wide influence in the Awakened Community.

Befriending her would only provide benefits for him.

"I see… So you will join us… That's good. There aren't many B-Rank Awakened these years. This is your first exploration, right? I will take care of you inside."

"Ahh, yes, this will be my first exploration. Then, I will rely on you, Miss Vanessa." Cyril lied with a straight face.

Cyril then headed to the briefing room while Vanessa was accompanied by a few black-suited bodyguards and headed towards a different floor.

Soon, Cyril met Valerie, his coordinator, accompanied by several newly contracted Awakened in the Association. They are about to enter the briefing room when Valerie noticed him.

Valerie ordered the other Awakened to first enter the room as she seem to want to talk with Cyril privately.

"Cyril… About the Demon Spellbook that you've mentioned… There were records of it in a few High-Class Arcane Worlds owned by different guilds. Do you have information about this spellbook?"

Valerie asked immediately. Cyril thought that this woman would just greet her but recalling how he asked assistance about the grimoire that he found, he immediately smiled.

"I'm not sure… I entered the Black Market so I just heard about it. So, what are your information about them?" Cyril replied.

Valerie was a bit flustered seeing how he just admitted it like that!

Normally, people would keep such a thing a secret since visiting the Black Market means avoiding taxes, or perhaps, purchasing prohibited drugs and weapons! If this thing is known by those people working for the government, Cyril would be in trouble.

Nevertheless, it is a good move for Cyril.

Letting her know that he went to the Black Market would make him a bit more trustworthy. After all, he shared a secret with her.

"Ugh… I'll pretend I didn't hear that… Make sure that no one would ever hear that as well. Understand?"

Valerie sternly said as she looked around. She wanted to make sure that no one other than her heard what Cyril just said.

"Yes, Ma'am!"

Valerie then sighed in relief as she shared what information she got.

"The Demon Spellbook normally appears when a Titled Demon wanted to take servants or worshippers. This is the object they are using to lure people into worshipping them to gain powers. If you found a spellbook, I suggest that it is to be immediately sealed or you'll be turned to a worshipper."

"This… Have you seen one of these Spellbooks being sealed? How come I've never heard of it?" Cyril asked in confusion.

He heard about the things related to Devil and Demons, however, their Spellbook or the Grimoire was completely new to him.

If such a thing was existing, it was quite impressive that he had never heard of it for more than a decade in his other life!

This made him quite unsure of what to feel.

"No! However, I heard that the strongest guild in Traoland Archipelago has sealed one of the Demon Spellbooks owned by a Titled Demon… I was told that they even managed to defeat the Demon owning it."

"Seriously?" Cyril was a bit shocked. He knows that Demons aren't weak after all. Even though Xagan was sealed and Azennon was weakened, their influence was still incredible.

Perhaps, if he found the villagers as completed devils instead of the newly converted ones in the Red Goblin Arcane World, he would be the one defeated by them instead.

Anyway, Cyril can now make sure that the weird things in the Red Goblin World were made by Azennon. That demon was an outsider as he taught the humans how to use runes and provided them with a Spellbook or a Grimoire that can make them a true Devil.

After thinking about it, the reason why the villagers he killed were probably still incomplete devils, was because the Goblinsmith took away the Grimoire from them. This delayed their transformation.

Then after investigating, the villagers most likely suspected that the goblin have something to do with its disappearance but they are also afraid of fighting the goblins directly.

This is why they have decided to close the dungeon with the low-rank runes they've learned to perhaps starve the goblins to death or something similar.

'Hmm… Am I overthinking? That's quite a story I guess.'

Cyril mused after he connected everything.

He might be wrong but the truth shouldn't be too far from what he had just discovered.

'I guess, any Arcane World with a Demon involved is dangerous… I should be more careful in the future…'

"Right, you said that Traoland Archipelago's guild defeated a Titled Demon? Have you heard of its name? I'm quite curious." Cyril said acting a bit innocent.

"Yeah, they called the demon "Bazoroth the Immolator" if I'm not mistaken… Anyway, don't think about these demons too much. Those things are for Rank A and Rank S Awakened to be dealt with. You are just a newbie Rank B who hasn't even explored an Arcane World yet…"

Valerie said as she grabbed Cyril's hand and pulled him to enter the briefing room. They can waste any more time after all.

On the other hand, Cyril's mind is thinking of something else...

'The Blasphemed One, The Corruptor, and now, The Immolator?'
