Chapter 20 - Final Preparations

Apparently, Dalton has an Artifact that allows him to detect the life force of an individual.

He had long since noticed that Cyril's life wouldn't be that long. Compared to the practitioners of the same age, the difference is just too huge that he could easily notice it.

That is why he felt a bit sad seeing that such a talented man wouldn't be able to enjoy his life for long.

'Haa~ It's probably related to how he learned the Martial Arts and reached a Master Class. I wonder what kind of training did he do.' The middle-aged man pondered.

He was unsure of the reason why Cyril's life force was weak and could only relate it to the possibly hellish training he did to achieve the Master Class of Pencak Silat.

Ha! Ha! Ha!

He then noticed that everyone in the Martial Arts Hall was invigorated by that fight as they actively practice the martial art.

"Well, Guess I must thank him later on…" Dalton finally smiled. Seeing the previous uninspired practitioners being serious in their practice was more than enough to appreciate Cyril's presence within the hall.

Cyril returned to his house after the fight with the three. For now, he doesn't want to be involved with those guys.

During their sparring, he realized that they are actually from the Northern Badger Guild.

He learned about it after recognizing their limiter. It is their tattoo marks on their wrists that prohibit them to use their Aura.

This Aura is unique to all the Awakened and if normal people get exposed to such, it will be dangerous for them.

This is why the United Awakened Association of the World created the limiter for those newly Awakened or those who were unable to control or hide their Aura.

They couldn't just leave alone those Awakened that have no control whatsoever.

Unless they learned how to manipulate and hide their Aura, they will not be allowed to use them in the real world and they needed to have a limiter marked on their bodies at all times whenever they go out of the Arcane World.

Of course, the ones managing the limiters were the guilds and the government of each country itself for those who weren't planning to join one.

The Guild Leaders were allowed to learn how to create the limiter so they could design it according to their preference.

For the three men, Cyril easily recognized the image of a badger on their limiter so he recognized their guild quickly.

'But… Those guys were already 25 years old! How come they are still wearing their limiter? Just how bad are they?'

Cyril couldn't help but belittle the three men. Everyone would be Awakened after turning 18! It means that those guys were already Awakened for about 7 years and they were still unable to control their Aura!

It was no wonder they were stuck at the beginner's guild since no one would probably offer a contract to them. This is most likely the reason why they are here in a small town.

Perhaps, they were tasked to find some prospects or people that would be awakened and offer them to join their guild since they could barely help clearing an Arcane World.

He remembers that it only took him a single week to control his aura.

Nevertheless, it was no longer his problem as he doesn't have plans of joining that guild.

As soon as he returned home, he decided to just chat with the Demon. He remembered something after seeing the Awakened guys,

Xagan's projection can actually disappear whenever he wants and just manifest it when he needed. However, the Demon seems to like having a projection so he can get used to this world.

"Sir Xagan, if I'm not mistaken, after my awakening, I would get an Aura unique to those Awakened and transform my physical qualities to a higher class… Wouldn't that increase my life span?" Cyril asked.

"Hmm… This is advanced information, Contractor." Xagan replied while he seems to be thinking of an answer. Or maybe it was just his imagination…

Anyway, Cyril decided to continue with his words since he didn't want to be charged with this question.

"So it wouldn't matter if I learned it now, right? Since I will be awakened in just a few more weeks. I will learn about it anyway… Can you just inform me about it?" He said with a pleading tone.

"Well, you're right… It's related to the reason why you returned a month prior to your awakening…" Xagan replied.

"Ahh… You told me it's due to the assimilation of that paper artifact imprisoning you, right?"

"Correct, Contractor. Once the assimilation is completed, you will indeed receive some enhancements that will allow you to awaken to a higher rank. However, because of the special qualities of the Artifact, you will barely receive any further enhancements in your Awakening since your body had already reached its limits."

"I… I see…" Cyril nodded after hearing the Demon's explanation. He's still trying to process what he just heard.

The Demon then added.

"So in short, you will probably receive a life extension after your assimilation to the Artifact, not in your Awakening… What the Awakening will affect is the quality of your body and the aura that you'll have."

Cyril finally understands what the demon was trying to say. He's also quite thankful that there is no need for him to pay for such helpful information. Anyway, Xagan seems to be unable to tell what exact changes will happen as well.

"I understand. I'm getting quite excited now…" Cyril couldn't wait for his Awakening… He wanted the time to pass quickly so he can already calculate all the things he needed to do.

Right now, he couldn't create a solid plan since he's still unaware of what rank he'll awaken.

In the meantime, he can only try to help his Aunt Bonnie and avoid being a burden to her. Then, he also decided to keep in touch with Naomi since he also felt bad ignoring her in his previous life.

This time, he wanted to at least become a good friend to this future doctor.

Finally, several days had passed and he will be awakened tomorrow…
