Chapter 12 - The Eye

Cyril heard the Demon clearly but decided to ignore him for now. His aunt was still in front of him and he can't talk to him yet.

However, he kept what he said in his mind and will ask about it later.

"So, what brought you here? You didn't bring a huge bag with you. Are you not going to stay here for today?"

His aunt asked after noticing that he's only carrying a sling bag with him.

"Ahh… I'm planning to stay here until my Awakening next month. As for my clothes and other things, I'm thinking of just buying them later. Is that alright?"

"Eh? Of course. But how did you know that it'll be your Awakening?" The lady was confused.

The Awakening doesn't have an exact date. Although it happens when you already reached 18 years old, it doesn't mean that it will happen on the same date.

There are only a few times that it will happen on the same day and that it is just completely by luck. There was no pattern at all but it will happen within the 12 months after turning eighteen.

"Ahh! That… I just felt it—No, I'm hoping that it'll be that way. Anyway, can I still use the same room?"

Bonnie could only shake her head before answering…

"Alright, alright… I'll be going to the grocery store for now. I'll be closing the shop, just fix your room."

"Oh… You don't have to close it. I can stay here. I know how to help a customer." Cyril said reminding her aunt that he was working three part-time jobs.

Aside from that, when he was little, he was already helping her in this shop. It was a bit nostalgic so he didn't want her to close the store yet.

Seeing his enthusiastic behavior, Bonnie let him do as he wishes. She then removed her lab coat and put on her blazer before going outside to buy food. She wasn't expecting him to arrive so she needed to buy supplies.

After the lady left, Cyril made a quick look in his room.

The room was actually clean and he doesn't have anything to fix aside from his bedsheet and curtain.

"Sir Xagan… About the thing you've mentioned. Why are you giving that suggestion?" He asked.

But to be honest, he already has an idea but he couldn't confirm it yet.

"Kekeke… Although I can't tell you the specific details, I can let you know that the woman you're talking to doesn't have a longer life span than you… I notice that she's important to you, so I just gave a suggestion."

The Demon looked at Cyril with a curious face before he continued without waiting for the man's reply.

"So, are you not willing to give her your life? You would die anyway… Wouldn't it be better to use your life to bring her happiness?"

"Hmm... I see… So I was right. You can see the life span of each person. That's a godly ability... Can I also have that power?"

Instead of being persuaded, Cyril gave another question after realizing that his intuition was spot on. After all, the Demon wouldn't suggest such an offer if it's not related to the situation around him.

However, he was still surprised that a demon is acting as a death god. It was as if he also has control of the life and death of other people.

'He's not a simple demon. I wonder who managed to lock him up in that Artifact.'

The young man thought as he can tell that this high-ranking demon wouldn't just be locked by his carelessness. There must've been another power stronger than him that forced him there.

"Interesting… This is the first time I've heard this kind of request… Alright, I can give a weaker version of this ability for only 6 years of your life. Well, the full version of the Death's Eye would cost 20 years, so I can't give that to you with your 9 years. So, is that a deal?"

"I'll take note of it, Sir Xagan. Thank you for letting me know."

"Hmph…" The Demon seems to be disappointed that he didn't accept the deal.

Cyril can only smile wryly at this.

Anyway, there's nothing he can do. The price was too much for him.

However, he knows that once he found the Tree of Life, this demon would be very busy completing his requests.

'Haa~ The problem is how to find it… I don't have any clues aside from the guild that announced that they found it within their High-Class Arcane World.'

His memories of his previous life wouldn't help him at this point. What he had to do is to get stronger and enter multiple Arcane Worlds to find clues about the Tree of Life.

As of now, he can only remember 5 possible locations of the purple crystals and it's not even a guarantee that he'll find them there.

'No. Perhaps, I just have to find at least one Entrance and earn a lot of money from there. Once I have enough money, purchasing crystals would be a lot easier.'

The young man then made up his mind. Joining the Association or the other guilds at this point wouldn't let him earn enough money to buy his own Entrance since every reward in a single exploration would be divided by the team members and there's also a cut for the guild itself and taxes.

The amount of money he'll earn in an organization would take him years before he can save money to buy even a low-class Arcane World! Perhaps 15 to 20 years if he wanted to buy a High-Class one. He couldn't wait the long!

The price of even a Low-Class Arcane World wouldn't be less than 200 million Ains. As a matter of fact, even after many years when there's already a lot of Purple Crystal, the price would still not go down and could also increase!

He had to find a way to earn tons of money!

In the end, Cyril asked the Demon a question.

"If I wanted you to find an Arcane World and get something inside… Can you do it?"
