Sitting in his room, Grim opened up his grimoire and flipped through a couple of pages. After his fight with Luck, he had learnt quite a few important facts about his magic. The first thing he gained more insight into was his usage of Breath of the Beast. Unlike his other breath styles, Breath of the Beast was more suited to killing an opponent than fighting one. In his battle with Luck, he could have easily cut through his lightning boots and tore his legs off in their first clash if he really wanted to.

The second thing he learnt through his fight with Luck was how to properly switch between his swords mid battle. While he had practiced doing it during his six month training period, nothing compared to actually doing it in battle. And while he may have broken some ribs as a result of his fight, he definitley felt that it was worth it in the end.

The last and most important thing he learnt from his fight with Luck was actually related to something that had been bothering him for a while. During his fight with Sister Theresa she had hit him with a powerful flame spell that left him lying flat on his ȧss. A couple hours later he then found a fire related breath style in his grimoire, at first he suspected that it could have been a coincidence, but after battling Luck and being hit by a shit ton of lightning punches, he obtained the Breath of Thunder style. Just like his fight with Sister Theresa, he was hit by a powerful spell and eventually gained a new spell that mirrored the elemental damage he received. He guessed that this meant that everytime he received damage from a certain type of spell he'd gain a new breath style related to the same element. If his hypothesis was correct, then doesn't that mean he'd have to let people hit him until his grimoire said "Aight, you took your beating like a man, here's a new spell."

If that was the case, he could bet that fuċktard of a God made it this way on purpose. It wasn't enough that he gave him a body that was weaker than the average human, he also had to make it so that it was near impossible for him to unlock the other breath styles without getting an ȧss whoopin.

Sighing at his new found discovery, Grim continued flipping through his grimoire until he felt a large amount of mana gathering at one point.

'What the hell?'

Opening up his window, he saw a large ball of water with multiple water sprouts bursting out of it.

*Sigh* 'What is that noble up to now?'

---

"What's going on?" Walking up to Yami and the others, they all looked up at the silver haired noble who was drowning in her own spell.

*Breathes out smoke*

"Her magic's out of control." Yami replied

"Oh..." Grim nodded with understanding before looking back up at the giant waterball.

"Should we do something about this?"

"We can't, if we attack with magic then the girl might get hurt." Yami took in another drag of smoke. "If only we had someone who could nullify magic?"

'Nullify magic?'

"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

As if hearing his thoughts, Asta's scream rung out loud as his small body came dropping down from the sky.

'Nope, not even gonna question it.'

*Catch!*

"You got here just when I was thinking about you." Yami said after catching Asta with one arm.

"Eh?!"

"Now then, go do something about that." He pointed at Noelle's waterball.

"Good luck." Grim gave him a thumbs up.

"What do you meeaannnnn!!!" Enhancing his strength with reinforcement magic, Yami suddenly threw him at the giant waterball.

"AAAHHHHHH!!!!"

"Surpass your limits brat!" Yami yelled some encouraging words.

"I think I understand why no one wants to join this squad."

---

'The power to nullify magic...'

After getting rid of the waterball spell, Asta and Noelle fell from the sky and were transported to the ground with Finral's magic.

"Hahahaha, that's some crazy magic you've got there!!" Pushing himself up off the ground, Asta held a friendly hand out to the silver haired girl. "I'm really jealous since I don't have any. I bet you'll be unstoppable when you get it under control." Asta smiled.

'This guy is way too nice to someone who was insulting him mere hours ago.'

"Want some?" Charmy hobled over dressed in her sleepwear and offered Grim some food.

"...Sure."

"Heh, so your problem was that you weren't able to control your magic eh?" Magna suddenly spoke up after Asta and Noelle made up. "Why didn't ya say so?! We're the Black bulls, an order of misfits and outsiders-

"Speak for yourselves..." Grim muttered remembering that he didn't even want to join this magic squad.

"We can easily take care of your control issues." Magna continued.

'I think you should take care of her attitude first.'

"Hey Grim!" Luck jumped over to his side. "Wanna fight?"

"Hell yeah."

---

-The next morning-

"So... why are we fighting?" Asta asked holding his sword in front of him.

"I heard its what squad members do." Grim answered.

After battling Luck again last night, Grim had gotten better at using his magic in battle against an actual mage. But then he thought about what he'd do if he fought against some else who could nullify magic. And being the kind of person he was, he immediatley asked Asta to spar with him when he had the chance.

And that brings us to the current time, standing with his Breath of the Beast swords out, Grim's body was coated in the soft glow of a gray aura.

"Ready?"

"Yeah." Asta nodded.

After watching Asta's fight with Sekke back at the exam, Grim noticed just how physically superior Asta was compared to him. With that knowledge in mind, he chose to utilize Breath of the Beast to reinforce his own physical stats.

Staring the other down, the two swordsmen nodded before charging each other.

Using his absurd leg muscles, Asta's figure flashed forward was an alarming amount of speed.

*BOOM!*

'That's right Asta... come at me!'

Feeling his battle senses and his urge to dominate being stimulated, a weird smile adorned Grim's face as he used his magic reinforced legs to match Asta's charging speed.

*BOOM!!*

Leaving two small craters behind them, the two boys quickly appeared in front of the other and swung their swords.

*CLANG!!*

'This strength!'

Clashing swords, Grim felt the ground beneath their feet collapse as he was pushed back by the outrageous weight of the black sword. It was a wonder how Asta was able to lift the thing.

"Your swords are still here!" Asta said in shock.

'My swords?'

"Oh?"

Now that Asta had pointed it out, Grim realized that his swords weren't disappearing like magic did when it came into contact with Asta's sword.

'Wait a second... Does that mean the swords are physical and not magical in nature?'

Thinking about it now, the swords being physical objects and not magic contrsucts actually made sense. His demon slaying magic probably created physical replicas of the swords from the demon slayer manga whereas the magic that appeared on the blades actually spawned from his body.

'So that's how it is...'

Within his fragmented memories of his 12th life, he remembered that while the swords from Demon Slayer were useful in killing demons, it was actually the breath styles that made it possible for the Demon Slayers to keep up with their enemies.

[Breath of Thunder]

Switching styles, the beast swords that were clashing against Asta's sword vanished from sight and caused Asta to slip forward.

"EH!"

Using Asta's momentum against him, Grim easily side stepped him and felt their shoulders brush against each other.

[3rd Form: Thunder Swarm]

Activating his new spell, Grim took advantage of the fact that all of Asta's weight was leaning forward. With that little fact known to him, a spinning wave of lightning appeared around him and struck Asta's side electrocuting him in the process.
