Chapter 11 - Grim Luck

-Black Bull's outer area-

"I don't care what method you use, all you have to do is either block or dodge the magic I'm about to throw at you." Magna spoke to both Grim and Asta. "If you guys can manage that, I'll give you these robes."

"BRING IT ON!!" Asta shouted looking confident.

'Is this really necessary? Either way, I'm not gonna turn down a fight.' Grim smiled and prepared himself. But before they could start, the trio were interuppted by one smiley boy.

"Actually Magna." Luck jumped over to Grim's side. "I'm gonna test this one!"

"Hey wai-

Before Magna could even answer, Luck had already shifted his attention onto Grim.

"Hehe, looks like we won't have to wait to fight."

Feeling his enthusiasm, Grim couldn't help but also want to fight. Afteral, unlike that fat noble back at the magic knight entrance exam, Luck was a bonafide magic knight, he should be able to use the new spells he learnt from his 6 months of training.

"Ready when you are."

"THAT'S THE SPIRIT! LET KILL EACH OTHER!!"

Moving a bit away from Magna and Asta's area, the rest of the Black Bull's looked at each other with concern.

"Should we do something about them?"

"I'm starting now!" Luck yelled and opened his grimoire.

"Don't hold back!" Grim smiled and opened up his own grimoire.

[Lightning Creation Magic: Thunder God's Boots]

[Breath of the beast]

*BOOM!!*

Kicking off the ground with a lot of explosive force, both boys charged towards the other unable to hide the smiles on their faces.

"GRIMM!!"

"LUCKK!!"

*BANG!!*

Clashing head first into each other, Luck's lightning covered boots collided with one of Grim's blades.

[Breath of Flames]

Activating his Demon slaying magic, the hue around Grim's body changed from gray to orange as the blade that had clashed with Luck's boot changed into a katana with a red colored blade.

[Ninth form- Rengoku]

*BOOM!!*

"What the hell!" Vanessa jumped to her feet. "Did he just change his magic affinity?"

"Apparently he uses something called 'Demon slaying magic'" Finral came over and explained.

"Demon slaying magic?"

"I don't get it either, but its what he said when the captain asked him."

Perched above the Black Bull's headquaters, the bird that was usually with Asta watched both Asta's and Grim's matches with a weird gleam in its beady eyes.

"AHAHAHAHAHA, This is so much fun!" Luck laughed as he springboarded off the blade to dodge Grim's fire beam attack.

"You haven't seen anything yet!" Grim's smile deepened as he returned to using breath of the beast.

"Back to two blades huh." Luck ċȯċked his head before preparing to attack again.

Flashing out of sight, he appeared next to a startled Grim.

*BANG!!*

Whipping his leg out at an unreasonable speed, his lightning covered boot collided with Grim's ribcage and sent him flying through the air.

"Urghhh!!" Stabbing his swords into the ground, Grim managed to halt his momentum, unfortunately, Luck wasn't about to give him a break.

Appearing in front of the downed Grim, the smile on Luck's face didn't falter for a moment as he pulled his leg back and swung it forward towards Grim's chin.

"Heh."

[Breath of flames- Second form: Rising Scorching Sun]

Switching to Breath of flames, Grim grinned as he felt the sword in his hand change form. Activating his spell, he swung his swords upwards creating a wheel of fire that crashed into an unsuspecting Luck.

"Arghh!!"

"Not bad." A voice sounded out behind Vanessa and Finral.

"CAPTAIN!" The two of them shouted when they saw who it was.

Blown back by Grim's fire wheel attack, Luck's heels dug into the ground to slow his backwards momentum. Once he finally came to a stop, he looked down at his burnt clothes and couldn't help but laugh.

"Amazing... YOU'RE REALLY AMAZING GRIM!!"

[Lightning Creation Magic: Thunder God's Gloves]

Executing another spell, a pair of large clawed lightning gloves manifested itself on Luck's hands.

"Ready for more?" Grim asked even though he knew the answer.

"You betcha!"

*BOOM!!*

Charging at each other again, the two boys charged their magic and engaged in combat once more.

*BANG!!*

*BANG!!*

*BOOM!!*

'Damn it!'

Shaking off the attack, Grim threw himself back in the fight but quickly realized that he couldn't keep up with Luck's tremendous speed. And to make matters even worse, he also realized that his Breath of the Beast blades were to lethal to use against Luck. This left him with only his Breath of Flames blade.

"Looks like the newbies at his limit." Finral commented after watching Grim being pushed into a corner.

*Sigh* "Looks like it." Vanessa agreed after seeing Grim get hit with a 1-2 combo."

"That brat... He's about to surpass his limit." Yami suddenly grinned.

'Damn it, Damn it, DAMN IT!!'

*BANG!!*

'He's too fuċkɨnġ fast!'

*BANG!!*

'Why the hell is he so fast!'

*BANG!!*

'Or is it that I'm too slow?'

*BANG!!*

'No, its my attacks that are too slow!'

*BANG!!*

'Yeah, if I were faster...'

*BANG!!*

'If my attacks were as fast as him...'

*BANG!!*

'If my attacks were as fast as lightning...'

*BANG!!*

'Lightning...'

*BANG!!*

Landing a solid punch right in the middle of Grim's face, Luck's danger senses suddenly went off as what seemed like yellow lightning started to surround Grim.

Flashing into view, Grim's grimoire shone a bright yellow color that caught the attention of everyone including Asta and Magna.

"What the hell?!"

"What's going on?"

"Marie..."

Feeling an electrifying feeling run through his body, an unfamiliar blade appeared in Grim's hand as his grimoire opened in front of him and revealed a new page.

Not knowing why, he instinctively activated the new spell.

[Breath of Thunder- Third Form: Thunder Swarm]

Bursting out of his body, a spining wave of bright yellow lightning exploded in all directions.

'Shit!'

*BANG!!*

*BANG!!*

Due to him being in such close proximity to Grim, Luck had to push himself to the limit in order to evade the waves of lightning coming at him. But to make matters worse, Grim started running towards him while continuously spamming his new spell.

'Ha...HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!'

Evading the continuous swarm of lightning, Luck's smile was becoming scarier and scarier as beads of sweat started rolling down his face.

"AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!!" He laughed uncontrollably as he stretched his right arm out in front of himself and focused his lightning magic onto the tips of his fingers.

[Lightning Magic: Thunderclap Crumbling Orb]

Appearing on the end of his fingers, multiple orbs lightning spawned into existence.

"Oh no..." Vanessa muttered.

Activating the spell on his other hand, Luck kept evading Grim's thunder swarm and waited for a gap to appear in his defense.

"THERE!!" Pointing both hands forwards, the smile on Luck's face threatened to reach the edge of his eyes as he fired the orbs at Grim.

[Breath of Flames- Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation]

Switching breaths, the recently debuted yellow glow transformed into a bright orange as Grim covered his blade in flames and spun it around creating a defensive stream of flames that intercepted Luck's lightning orbs.

"HAHAHA, you even blocked that!" Luck laughed feeling his blood flow accelerate.

"Forget that! What was that attack! It nearly got me!" Grim also laughed as he matched Luck's crazy with his own.

Just as the two were about to go at it again. A booming voice put and end to everything.

"ENOUGH!!"

"Eh?"

"Huh?"

Stopping in their tracks, both boys turned to look at the one who had interrupted them.

"Whose backyard do you think you're tearing up?" Yami's figure appeared in front of the two.
