The soul. It was a very powerful being before the tragedies struck. Before fate hit and they had to be separated cruelly, not being able to touch their happy ending.

But that being didn't give up. He wanted to chase her. He wanted to get her back. No matter what the price was.

The soul had to go through the currents of dimensional travel forcibly thanks to his decision, because of his peculiar condition and situation. Compared to Xu Jiaqi, who had the protection of the System and was supposed to transmigrate between worlds, he had no protection cast over him and just jumped in without thought for the one he desired.

His braveness was in the range of pure stupidity. Not only will he have to bear the cost of defying fate itself, he was also dumb enough to try and chase down his Host even though he must've known that she would be protected by him, a System.

If only his Host could steer away from that man, everything would be alright. But he knew that being's tenacity all too well. How obsessed he was with Xu Jiaqi... No, the soul inside Xu Jiaqi.

There was one major problem that he had to immediately take care of. Xie Yongrui's fluctuating emotions, and the fact that he would have to go through countless memory wipe outs in order to follow Xu Jiaqi.

Several memory wipe outs could not be good for any type of being. Not only will that soul's entire existence be deteriorate, its emotions would also be significantly affected. He will be stuck in a spiral of not being able to recall, and yet having the ability to faintly remember the inklings of what he felt towards Xu Jiaqi.

But this array of emotions will obviously be skewed.

The emotions he recalled will only be the most extreme ones. This was part of the reason on why letting him get close to Xu Jiaqi was so absurd. For example, the madness he had for her. That sort of emotion will be preserved, and could be easily triggered. However, tame emotions like the feelings of boredom or sadness will not be registered because he rarely felt that with Xu Jiaqi's soul.

Thus, what will happen if that being's soul only kept the strongest emotions on deck? Madness, pure love, worship, anything favorable in large amounts was still not that great. Not to mention, their effectiveness would amplify under the ranges of his condition.

The more he travelled within space, the blinder he would be. One day, his soul's true existence would completely evaporate, and leave him with no chances to do anything anymore. He couldn't be destroyed because he was divine. But that didn't mean he was invulnerable.

The System was once plagued by the thought. If he just protected the Host well and let him self destruct. One day, he would finally be subjected to wandering the astral realms mindlessly. Then, it would be fine, and there would be no obstruction in the end.

But if they were going through that path, the Host will eventually recover all her memories and realize what he, the System had done.

When that time came, he wouldn't know how to respond to her.

In this story, they were both innocent. They were just bullied by fate, entangled with a bundle of bad luck that they couldn't escape.

Thus, he wanted to try out a second option. An option that could secure a happy ending. For that to happen, he needed them to separate for a moment. Perhaps one or two worlds. That was enough for him to fulfill his purpose.

[I need to check the records. I need to hurry.. before that man catches on as well.] The System was heavily stressed. How on Earth was he supposed to fix this situation completely?

At least a few casualties will have to be made, but it would all be worth it... right?

He wanted to scream his lungs out, but it was just wasting time. He needed to move as quickly as possible and yield the results. He had to protect Xu Jiaqi.

Of course, the person herself stayed in the dark about all of this information.

_______

Time trickled away like water. Xu Jiaqi wasn't that keen on counting the time she had spent, but a lot of time had passed.

It neared one year, almost. And the main problem that she was worried about still stayed true.

Ever since she sent off the System to gather information, he never came back. Not even a report was sent back after the first few data he dropped off. Now that Xu Jiaqi looked at them, she noticed that it was enough for her to form her own hypothesis after reading them, and get her plans up and going without his input.

But his disappearance worried him. It was all too coincidental. He clearly didn't leave her unintentionally. He had a plan or something in hand, and he went to finish it without telling anything to her.

Xu Jiaqi frowned as she rubbed her eyes, getting up from her comfortable bed and yawning.

Today, too, the System wasn't there to respond to her when she called his name.

"System... When you come back- Ahh, never mind, never mind. I shouldn't resort to threats. It became a habit after I switched jobs." Xu Jiaqi complained.

She got ready for the day as always, and headed to work. Her 'work' was very peculiar, she had an array of different tasks to do. Legal and illegal ones, all of it were the same in Xu Jiaqi's eyes.

That was why, today, she had just cracked another person's neck to the point of no return. No signs of life could be spotted on her target's body.

"..I don't like violence, just so you know." Xu Jiaqi chuckled as she sat down on top of the person she had just subdued. "But.. when someone like you tries to seek death on your own.. It's really a shame, but I need to eradicate and hide your body before someone comes here.. Hays, heavy work, heavy work."

Although she was complaining, there was a brilliant smile plastered over her face. So shining that one might think she was just a little girl who was playing around, not a bloodied person who dragged a heinous body around while looking for a place to dump it at.

As she hummed a beautiful tone, trying to uplift her mood.. A noise started.

"Hey there, young miss!" A cheery voice appeared out of nowhere.
