Chapter 108 - 3.4

"Is the lord planning to...?"

"Nothing much. I was just thinking that it would be interesting to have a new kitten as a pet. Don't you think so too?" The man had an emerald earring clipped onto his left ear. When he smiled brightly and turned his head, the earring jiggled and reflected the light of the sun, making it even more dazzling.

The faint bamboo smell that naturally came out of the lord's body wafted into the guard's nose.

"I understand, my lord." The guard bowed and disappeared out of sight.

The lord's words were like law to the elite guards. Every single order he made are to be followed.

If the lord wished to treat this person he regarded as a stray kitten well, then she would be offered nothing but the best treatment. If the lord wanted her life, then her head would not be intact by the next day.

It was the first option that the lord desired, so he had to make his preparations to welcome this new pet into their residence.

The lord was truly a surprising person whose mind couldn't be fathomed.

As for Xu Jiaqi, she kept sleeping inside the cage that she got into. She didn't know what it used to house before she intruded, but there was nobody who disturbed her as she slept through the day. Her body was extremely tired and bruised. The next day, Xu Jiaqi was able to wake up with her strength somewhat replenished to a decent level.

Perhaps it was due to the System, but Xu Jiaqi felt like she wasn't overcame with as much pain as she thought she deserved after all of that crazy stunt. She just wanted to get away from the slum district, but who knew that she would get into this kind of trouble?

Anyway, she had to confirm where she currently was. Inside her mind, she had a map of the entire place, so it didn't take long for her to figure out that she was currently inside the outer part of the city they were in. This place was rarely visited, and hiding here was a piece of cake.

"System, are you there? Come out for me."

[You have awoken, Host! Wuwuwu, yesterday's events were so scary!]

"At least we got out alive. Listen, in this era... We have to be a bii~t more careful. Just a bit. Until we grow stronger, and more influential, we have to keep our head on our body." Xu Jiaqi opened the door to the cage. The bright sun rays attacked her sight.

She got out of the rather sizeable cage.

She didn't know what it was used for prior to her arrival, but it was conveniently there, so she thanked it for saving her life temporarily.

"System, do you have the missions up yet? Send it to me, we need to start planning our moves. I have to secure my living conditions, or else, I wouldn't even be able to do the smallest things." Xu Jiaqi sighed, still lamenting her hard life.

[On it, Host! I have acquired the information, I will transfer it to you right now!] The System enthusiastically replied.

In a few seconds, Xu Jiaqi was able to feel her mind absorb a set of information. It was the Main Quest.

[Main Quest: A Redemption Arc For a Tragic Soul

Details: Xu Jiaqi was someone who was thrown away by the world without batting an eye. [Main Quest: A Father Figure

Details: As someone who was born out of unclear origins, Xu Jiaqi had always been curious about her parental figure. She did not have any love towards the man, but it couldn't be refuted that she  sometimes dreamed of what it would be like if she was born in a more normal family. One of her hidden wishes was to discover her father's identity and whereabouts- something that she was never able to do in her entire life. Not once had she seen what kind of man captivated her mother and brought her to the world. To fulfill this mission, please search for the original body's biological father and meet with him.]

"...Hmm, it seems like I would have to do a similar feat like the previous world's. As for the second mission.. It should come as we grow stronger. Finding and tracking someone like him should be easier by that point."

"The little kitten really lives in a cage, how suitable. It must be fate, everything matches up." A sultry, melodious voice suddenly attacked Xu Jiaqi's ears out of nowhere as she stretched her body and ruffled her hair up.

She turned her head around to see who it was. Surprise, surprise, it was nobody else but a super high ranking-looking person. His clothes had streaks of gold, which was something that wasn't allowed in this specific period except for those who were from the imperial lineage or given special permission to adorn themselves in gold. It was a reserved color that would get you into massive punishments if the law protectors caught you crossing the rule.

"..A prince?" That was Xu Jiaqi's first guess on this man's identity.

"Hmm? A prince? Is that who you think I am?"

"Kneel down." The guard beside him ordered, and released his strong killing intent towards the girl.

However, instead of cowering down, the girl tilted her head and did not look bothered at all. With fearless eyes beaming with innocence, Xu Jiaqi got closer to the fancy man and looked upwards towards him.

The act had started.. She had to tread carefully, so she decided to pick up the role of a little girl who you can't help but feel sorry for.
