Chapter 26 - 1.23

Bai Mengxue's father, Bai Jingyan worked inside Venus. He first entered as a wholesome employee with a bright mindset.

At first, that is. Upon being exposed to the crimes his higher ups committed, and knowing that he was going to get forever suppressed if he didn't join them, he eventually succumbed to the temptation of dirty money and joined in with the rest of the crew.

It was done not only because he feared for his career, but also because he needed money to manage his family. With the dirty money he would receive, he could work less and earn more. A perfect offer.

Thus, Xu Jiaqi also had a good amount of dirt on Bai Jingyan. Enough to put him in jail for years.

Naturally, Xu Jiaqi did not intend to purge him out right away. In fact, she was planning to keep Bai Jingyan inside the company to give him a false sense of assurance. He would see his partners in crime get thwarted out, but his turn won't come.

In a sense, Xu Jiaqi was holding Bai Jingyan hostage for a bargaining chip.

After her lovely trip, she left the company and arranged operations for the assistant her parents hired for her.

"Here you go. You are smart, I believe that you know what to do. Leave no one intact except for Bai Jingyan." Xu Jiaqi handed a briefcase to the assistant, who went by the name Suzy.

Suzy was a capable worker personally selected by Xu Zheng to aid Xu Jiaqi, so she did not have any problems trusting this person and her abilities.

After leaving the job, she rested for the rest of the day and only spent time looking at her materials listlessly.

Inside her head, her plans were neatly constructed and ready to be executed at any time. Smirking as she leaned against the window, where bright rays of sunlight poured in and illuminated her figure, she closed her eyes and reminisced about the past.

She was Xu Jiaqi. Ultimately, she wished to come back to that world, but by the time she was done as an agent and could administer freedom in her actions, the ones who she wanted to take revenge on would be dead.

It was best to separate her lingering emotions. There was no longer a point in brooding over the memories of the past, so she planned to treat that world as a mission world and not a destination.

Being an agent Host was also not bad.

Sensing the feelings his Host had, the System worried. Typically, Hosts of other Systems did feel homesick from time to time. Some couldn't continue on their journey anymore because of desperation. But Xu Jiaqi was too calm. Far too calm for her own good. Normal people usually had some sort of emotions evoked at first, but Xu Jiaqi was able to completely detach herself like this.

He worried that since his Host hadn't been exposed to emotion for all her developing years, she would be affected by the worlds in the future, where more dramatic situations would come. He began to look up for solutions to this dilemma, consulting with the other Systems on what to do to get his Host used to facing the emotions.

Xu Jiaqi went out for dinner alone tonight, and she coincidentally encountered a nuisance that she branded as annoying inside her head.

It was Bai Mengxue. Judging from the restaurant's status, someone like Bai Mengxue wouldn't have gotten in without the involvement of a third party. In this case, it should be Zhou Yuan. Despite their strained interactions in the last party, they seemed to have calmed down and rejoined back.

"Hello there." Xu Jiaqi lightly waved as she greeted the woman who wore a white dress as always. Bai Mengxue particularly loved the color white, and it did enunciate her aura of purity.

"Xu.. Jiaqi," Bai Mengxue openly displayed an uncomfortable expression in front of her, and even scooted backwards. Her mind was racing fast as she faced the big miss. "Are you here to tail us? You still have feelings for Yuan ge, don't you? I'm sorry... Yuan ge loves me, not you."

Bai Mengxue still kept her facade even while spouting such obvious provocating words. Truly a skill.

However, facing that statement, Xu Jiaqi had nothing else to do but laugh. The preparation she had done proved to be useful this quickly, why wouldn't she be joyful?

"Do you even know where your father works, sweet lady?" Xu Jiaqi tilted her head as she looked down at Bai Mengxue in amusement.

Bai Mengxue felt a deep fear creeping from within her heart as she did not answer, but pursed her lips as an unsettling premonition struck her.

"I suppose your father doesn't tell you much about his work. Then, I will tell you. The company's name is Venus. A company relating to the food business. And it's a subsidiary of a much larger company, which is a child company of an even larger company.. by the name Xu. And you know who I am, hm?"

"Firing your father will be.. as easy as slicing a cake, don't you think?" Xu Jiaqi's fingers trailed down Bai Mengxue's face, closing up on her and making sure that the woman understands who has the upper hand here.

"You are spouting nonsense. My father has done nothing wrong. If you fire him, you will be deemed as tyrannical! I.. I am leaving. Good day, Xu.. Miss Xu," Bai Mengxue broke free out of her grip and backed away. She stuttered as she began to turn around and pick up her pace.

Xu Jiaqi was also getting bored of the play, so she dropped one final bomb.

"Am I tyrannical, I wonder? Ahh, I forgot to tell you. The company Venus will soon rebrand, and all of the employees that committed crimes will be properly handled by the means of law. Of course, the employees who stayed upright will be left alone. Miss Bai, do you think your father will go into court... or will this heroic figure of yours stay a hero in your eyes?" Xu Jiaqi taunted, knowing that Bai Mengxue was completely unaware of the covert operations her father participated in.

"My.. my father wouldn't do such things! You are blatantly lying to me!"

System: Host, you sound like a villain.

Xu Jiaqi: If being a villain is what it takes to gain success and glory, I will gladly become the embodiment of evil for it.
