387 8.15 The Only Casualty - Me...

Suddenly I detected a stray arrow heading towards me and I sidestep and turned my body. An Imp Archer had appeared as dusk was approaching fast and had unleashed an arrow towards me. It didn't manage to do any damage to my armour but it managed to graze my bare skin just below the pauldrons that were not protected by the armour.

"I N C O M I N G"

"S H I E L D S. U P"

I managed to shout these 2 out before everything turned black and starry. I stuck my sword on the ground and fell to one knee as I heard the alert goes off for another battle, this time with the forgotten Imps that would only appear after dusk.

"Arrows...!!! Damn it... Safety first. Fall back...!!!" I hollered as I was losing my sight and I suddenly felt two arms hooked under mine and dragged me away to safety. All I heard were muffled sounds and someone touching my face and forehead but I can't see a thing...!!!

There was a hushed silence coming from the observers' area as they witnessed the first casualty, and that happened to be me as I was dragged off from the battlefield to safety.

When the last command was issued for the Rangers and Amazonian Fighters, a flurry of Arrows was unleashed into the air and found its mark as the Imps were impaled with the screaming and blazing Arrows.

Everything was a blurr to me as I literally dragged off by 2 warriors who saw my condition when I knelt down on one knee and had my sword embedded into the ground. During this time, everything was muffled as if I was underwater and the voices tried to reach me, checking if I'm alright.

"He's been shot with a poisonous arrow. It was from an Imp at point-blank and it was aimed at his left arm here. Look... The wound has turned greenish and black and we need to send him to the infirmary soonest possible. He needs medical attention fast...!! "said a warrior who was carrying me on my left side. He peered at the wound and confirmed it was a poisonous arrow and I would not last a few hours without any medical attention.

"Quick, send him over to my granny's, she knows what to do! "Matilda instructed despite hot tears streaming down her face. As she went ahead on Cruising Along with the two warriors who were carrying me side by side to York.

"Exhausted. I'm absolutely exhausted. Perhaps I should lay down, it'll be easier. Yes, this is more comfortable, yet I still feel exhausted. No, I cannot give in, I cannot die just yet."

"Help will be here soon. I'm sure of it. I just need to keep my eyes open and wait for help." thoughts raced to my mind as I was feeling numb all over, shots of fever and cold blanketed over my body time and time again as the feelings rotated within my body.

I was speaking gibberish and my thoughts were now in a jumble as I was laid to rest inside the thatched house of the Elder, Matilda's granny and were placed on a makeshift bed on the side of the interior.

"Granny... Is he going to be alright?! "Matilda asked as her granny ordered the two warriors to leave and let her handle the matters alone. The body armour was stripped and there I was in my t-shirt and boxers as the Elder checked for any more mortal wounds.

"Cutie pie, please leave me be for a while. Set the fire going and boil some water. This wound of his is very bad. He had been poisoned and the only way is for me to drain the blood away from the wound. Now go..." Matilda's granny shooed her away as she took her medical kit which was some tweezers and a sharp dagger tipped with silver.

"Alright, bear with me awhile, I need to get this poison out of your system first." the Elder spoke as she dabbed a bit of disinfectant and had placed a tourniquet on my upper arm. When she looked at the wound caused by the poisonous arrow, it was already becoming black and the region of green had spread to my chest.

"Hope I'm not too late..." the Elder sighed as she made a small incision and let the blood let out from the wound and into a basin below it. The blood was dark red, almost black in colour.

All this while I was just laying there, oblivious that I had been treated by the elder and also the blood had been let out to remove the poison, that might have spread over to my chest.

My chest was so tight, I could feel the tingly feeling of the blade as it sliced open the wound left by the Imp. The poison was somehow constricting my breath and my chest felt heavy every time I took a breath.

I tried opening my eyes, but the image before me was blurry. My ears can only catch a few words here and there and everything seemed muffled. During that blood letting, I lost consciousness a few times as a medic had placed several IV drop saline, antibiotics and a pint of O type blood.

"DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE ME, SILLY BOY" hollered Matilda as soon as she entered to hand her granny a basin of hot water and was shocked to see the extent of my poisoning effect that she nearly dropped the basin on top of my head.

Matilda collapsed on the floor as she looked at the state I was in. Soon, Stef and Jean Lethal arrived and handed Matilda a pack of Extreme Enhanced Ginseng Hee Ling Pills to me and asked her to stuff it one by one inside my mouth, which she did a while later.

My mouth was parched and dry, Matilda helped to open my up my mouth a drop a few pellets of the Ginseng and she sipped a bit of water and she ejected it through her mouth into mine, forcing me to swallow the pills and water.

Stef and Jean Lethal just stood there and both had tears streaming down their faces. Words were hard to describe that moment as I lay there, gasping for every single breath. The battle earlier was a success, a profitable one too but it doesn't be able to account for the fall of the leader of The Band of Vagabonds.

The rest of the 150 warriors had returned back to the Camp and each one of them held a candle in their hands and all were down on one knee as they prayed in silence. Will.I.Am and the two support staffs had prepared supper for everyone and they too were praying with a candle each in their hands.

"Don't let the candle blow out, our leader must prevail...!" said a Necromancer, who is used to dabble with spirits and the undead as he too prayed with a candle in his hands.

"ROBIN, YOU NEED TO PULL IT THROUGH..." Matilda cried as she spoke those words and her granny was there comforting her.

"Time will heal my cutie pie, we have to wait for the results. Pray for the best all of you." the Elder spoke but deep down in her heart, she knew the adverse effect as she watched the black blood that slowly trickles down from the open wound that she had made bigger for the bloodletting.

Before I lost consciousness again, I tried to put my hands together to make Psi energy but I failed to even raise my left hand altogether. In the end, everything turned dark and silent as I lay there, totally shut out from the noise and sight and fell into a deep slumber.

"Sam... Wake up. Its Max...!" a familiar voice rang out in the darkness and I slowly opened up my eyes, straining to see the familiar figure that had gone missing for so many chapters. Whether it's a welcoming or a disappointing event, I won't be able to know since Max would only appear during a life-threatening situation.
