366 7.94 Sheriff Of Nottingham Hatches A Plot.

"WHO THE FUCK SENT THIS MESSAGE?!?!?!" hollered the short man in full Military regalia as he smacked his fist on his throne in a full-blown fury that the men at arms close by could even glimpse steam coming out of his hairy little ears.

He stood up and stormed down the little steps, his sword on his sides, dragging across the steps and onto the stone floors, as he strutted chest to chest with his nearest men at arms who were at least 2 heads taller than him.

Actually, it was his head on the men at arms chest as he tried to look up at his face as he bellowed those words incessantly, fleeting from one chest to another until he was satisfied that he had done exactly the same to all the men and cursing them with the exact words.

"GONE... VANQUISHED... 75 MEN... IN AN INSTANCE..." he roared again as he climbed... Yes, he literally clambered on a stool to get to his throne and settled down while he gathered all his men at arms closer so he doesn't have to raise his voice anymore at them.

"Sheriff, you yourself had obtained the notifications and you yourself had delivered the message to gather as many men as possible to take over that gold mineshaft that the demons had occupied. Stop indicting others and take some responsibility." One of the men at arms answered back. As soon as he had said that, he was hauled away from the court to be walloped somewhere else outside the castle.

"Sheriff, you keep doing that and you'd lose your favourability with your army and your fellow citizens." retorted another man at arms as he too was dragged away from the court and was wailing while he has been treated so.

"I AM INVINCIBLE..." hollered another man at arms as he too was dragged away for no reasons in yelling out that nonsense in court.

"Errr... Sheriff, you look handsome today." said a man at arms, and knew that saying the wrong words at the wrong time would only be proved to be hazardous to their occupation.

"Aha...! That's what I want to hear... Very good...! You makes me happy. Here's a gold coin for you..." the Sheriff replied and knew flattery would give him a good mood anytime and flicked a gold coin towards the man at arms who was flattering him.

"So, a notification was received. I took notice. I sent out another notification to organise a party against those demons who guarded the gold mine. Everyone got slain. And our town folks suddenly suffered a sudden depopulation from that single event."

"Now, I can't collect the monthly personal taxes from 75 of these slain town folks which means I lost 75 gold coins of income. Tell the town folks to make more babies...!!!"

The Sheriff suggested as he made a note of his sudden spark of an idea.

"How about I make a notification that we now have more vacancies to fill and invite all the able-bodied men to take up residency here in this town? What say you?" the Sheriff pointed a sceptre at the man of arms and the latter replied, "That would be a splendid idea, more people, more personal taxes, more gold to jingle inside your coin pouch."

"True...True...True...You didn't praise me, so no gold coin for you..." the Sheriff replied and pondered what he would be doing next to get rid of the demons so that he could get his hands on the gold at the mineshaft.

"Anyone had a better plan on how to get rid of these demons? We can't risk using our town folks, they are just common folks which we suck them dry every month of their gold coins." inquired the Sheriff as he threw the question toward the group of men at arms who had gathered close to him.

"Sheriff, there's a battle arena in York and Leeds here. You can choose the undisputed champion of those party or boss raids to raid those demons' encampment. In that way, just put up a reward and everyone would be scrambling over it." suggested a man at arms.

"Hmm, that would be a splendid idea. I do have quite a number of wooden chests that are filled with traps and also hidden treasures, maybe I could use that as a way to attract them." thought the Sheriff as he scratch at a stubble on his chin.

"Alright, that settles then. I would go and make a notification right now to the undisputed champion in both Leeds and York and make them commit since they are under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Order. Have a few men to haul those wooden chests from the underground storage and bring it up here."

"I would make a few of these chest as mystery gifts so that those so-called undisputed champions can take a look at those chests beforehand and commit to fighting towards a common goal."

"Bring those chests up here first, then throw in a few props like some swords and shields. Also, scatter some gold and shilling coins on top and around it and make it look like some pirates treasure chests. Hahahahaha..."

The Sheriff watched the chests that had been brought up from underground and had placed it right at a corner of a wall and with the right props and all, he took a snapshot and sent it as a notification for the undisputed champions in both Leeds and York.

Soon positive responses came from the two champions called, 'The Cardinal Company' and 'The Ecriprax' and are ready to form into 2 different bands as they planned to head out by 8 pm this very evening. Looking at their numbers, the Sheriff was optimistic of the results even before the battle started.

"Now that those 2 undisputed champions had emerged, only one champion would be able to get a grip of the prize at the end of the day. And those 2 idiots would be going head to head from a co-op battle and into a PVP later on. Hahahahaha..." thought the Sheriff as he rubbed his hands in a gleeful manner thinking that the effort he had provided was nothing as long as the demons would be totally annihilated.

"Sheriff, those 2 bands would be taking off at it at the same time right? There would be 500 odd mixes of adventurers of different classes going against those monstrosities. Does anyone here operating a bookie to collect bets in who would emerge victoriously? I can't wait to make twice as many takings if there one." asked a man at arms as gambling was his only passion that could give rise to in the most rewards.

"Hahahahah, you and I share the same interest... We both worship gambling throughout our lives and this time, we are gambling with other peoples' lives. Whoever comes out as champions, can take these God-forsaken trapped filled chests away, as long as I can lay my hands on the gold mine. Muuuuaaahhahahha.... " the Sheriff cackled hysterically and mimicked Dr Evil as he squatted on the throne with his legs crossed.
