259 6.53 XO Sauce That Seals The New Edited Treaty

Later just after 10 pm, a tanuki floated in carrying the banner of Fasuto Japan Airways and landed gently at the grounds of the conference building. There stood a man of great importance, the Governor of Shimoda Prefecture and he was welcomed into the reception area and a room was arranged for him.

The tanuki and assisting Youkai Taijiya came over and knocked on our house's sliding door to inform that the guest had been successfully and safely transported here. The Youkai Taijiya member returned to his home and I went out to meet the tanuki.

"Has the guest been settled at the business conference building?" I asked as I rubbed my eyes. Obligations had to be fulfilled. That's my principles. "Had a great flight? Any problems?" and I asked the tanuki, and he replied that the guest had settled in at the business conference building. The flight was flawless and they had a single stopover only to and fro for about 20-30 minutes or so to soothe the tanuki stretched scrotum. Hahahaha.

"Here you go, thank you for your service. Please inform the rest of the pilots there are 18 outbound flights tomorrow." I passed the tanuki 50 gold coins to compensate for the trip of 500kms away. "Inform Hachi of the deployment, thank you, my friend."

Everyone is considered as a friend. No matter if they're a Youkai or a human being. I watched his back as he went back to his home and I closed the door before me and continued my slumber.

.....

The next following day, I had arranged for breakfast at the business conference building for the guests and since 18 merchants were there, the breakfast was included for them as well. Don't tell me we eat and the rest watches, right? Where's the hospitality... *tsk* *tsk* *tsk*.

I had woken earlier and since the 'aunties' the had prepared me the ingredients in making the XO Sauce, all I have to do is to fry them over the fire using a large wok. The employees who were reporting to work was welcomed by the scent and all gathered around as their Mayor / Governor was cooking the XO Sauce.

The smell was very overpowering that it wafted a few houses down to the left and right... Some who were not used to fried chilli early in the morning was sneezing their noses off and in the end, all wondered what the smell was since it was tickling their throat and taste buds.

Today breakfast was garlic fried rice with a sunny side up egg, grilled fish, cabbage and cauliflower and also kerneled steamed corn. It was a simple dish prepared by the aunties and after 30-45 minutes, the XO Sauce is ready.

I scooped a bit and places them into a small rice bowl. Then there's a dipping sauce bowl and I place a dollop of the XO Sauce in it. The taste was what I had been making for several years and store inside the ref. There was a layer of oil on top of the XO Sauce, and it was fiery red in colour.

The colour was intimidating but with rice or noddle or even a slice of bread, the taste was really out of this world. At first, the employees were afraid to try it but the smells attracted them and from that dollop of XO Sauce, they took a small dab and put it in their rice.

The moment they took a mouthful of rice with the XO Sauce, their eyes widened and a smile spreads across their faces as they closed their eyes, savour the burst of exquisite taste in the mouth and slowly chewed the food. It was an explosive sensation of a sweet, saucy, spicy, sourish, saltish taste of deep-fried chilli and all the hidden ingredients that I had asked the 'aunties' to prepare beforehand.

The Plant Managers were there having their breakfast and they asked, "Senpai, are we going to sell this throughout Japan too? This sauce is Extra Ordinary...! We have never tasted like this and it seems all meals would do fine with it, yes? Hmm... Hmmm... Hmmmmmm... Simply yummy...!" Riko, Fei and Gin commented on the effects of the XO Sauce.

"Hahahaha... I'm glad you liked it. Yes, it's going to be one of our added product and Extra Ordinary is the right name for it. It goes with almost anything and it's much subtler than wasabi. This small quantity is fired up for about 30-45 minutes before its totally cooked. If in a big wok, it's normally 2 hours and continuously stirring."

"Waaahhhh... it is spicy but I liked it very much. It makes this plate of garlic fried rice to be more complete. Can we eat with ramen too? How about gyoza or other fried things?" Hanna and Eko commented and they finished up a dollop of XO Sauce and asked the 'aunties' for more.

Luckily I had taken a bit for the breakfast later and the 'aunties' had taken theirs too. There was a bit of XO Sauce remaining on the surface of the wok as well as the ladle. I asked for 6-8 plates of garlic fried rice and I dumped it in the wok and worked it up awhile, covering the rice with the balance of XO Sauce.

I offered who wants seconds and the plant managers all stood in line and Izumi stuck her tongue out to me when it was her turn to scoop the rice. Hahahahaha. Good food makes the world go round.

The employees that had tasted the XO Sauce was also looking for seconds. Well... I guess they have to wait for the production by the end of the construction of the New District. The effects of the XO Sauce made people crave over it. Even though I managed to cook about 1 kg or so but it manages to serve at least more than 50 dollops on the small dipping sauce bowl.

I had about 3 dollops on the small rice bowl and I told the 'aunties' to bring the breakfast up after the employees had taken theirs. They nodded and prepares the breakfast for the guests and us afterwards.

Normally, it was the norm to prepare the food for their higher-ups first and guests before serving the others. But in Fasuto Japan KabushikiGaisha, employees eat first. They are our backbone and their welfare is more important than ours. Since there were 72 cooks on the grounds for all the 12 plot of production lines, tending to the all the transitioning night and day employees for their breakfast, there's plenty of leftovers for seconds and thirds.

Breakfast was finally served and all our guests had come down from their sleeping quarters. I announced to the guests that, "We are promoting a new sauce called XO Sauce. This sauce is being made up of dried chillies, boiled and then fried with some other ingredients. It would be available when the construction of the new warehouses would be ready. Please try it. It complements well with the fried rice."

I said after I took a small portion for myself and everyone tried it as well. A few of them smelled it at first. Some find it intriguing while one or two of the barbarians thought it as disgusting as hell. I mixed the chilli on my rice and everyone copied it. The moment the ladies had a mouthful of it, their faces turned red and squeals of "OISHI...! MASMASARAP...!! SEDAPNYA...!! HAOCHI...!! SI BEI HOCHIAK...!!! Yummy...!! And the rest all the usual 'NOM... NOM... NOM...' Hahahaha

"I'd say, Yours Truly... I really like..." Townsend Harris spoke up and was abruptly interrupted by me.

"The way the new treaty has been edited by us right? That's what you going to mention, am I right, Mr Townsend....?" I quipped in immediately, cutting off his conversation midway.

Townsend Harris looked at me in astonishment before he could even complete the sentence.

"Hahahahahaha... You are quite a conniving sly red fox, Yours Truly. I like that... Your XO Sauce and your edited Treaty. Both are spicy but very tasteful and full of flavours... I like it very much... Hahahaha. I like it very much...!!"

"I have decided to shut down the port of Shimoda and using Chiba and Shizuoka Prefectures to be the primary ports instead." the Governor of Shimoda said as he ate in silence.

"Hahahahaha... It has been decided then...! That part of the treaty still stands, am I right, Yours Truly? Hahahahaha... " Townsend Harris was laughing so hard that his dentures nearly flew onto the table. Ewwwwwwww...!

"Somethings off, but I can't place my finger on it at all..." I thought to myself as I glanced at the Governor of Shimoda and was silently enjoying his XO Sauce with the garlic fried rice.
