251 6.45 An Unexpected Change Of Hear

The guards at the northern gates had been advised not to touch those 6 caravans and keep a close watch over them because it is not ours and therefore we have no right to appropriate other people's properties. They understood what I had meant and I went back to my side where His Majesty and the rest of the gang were gathering there.

We had finished our dinner and decided to disperse soon after and His Majesty also wished to retire back at his Castle after experiencing my 'Hitokiri of the sharp tongue' earlier on against Townsend Harris.

.....

The next morning, when Hiko-sama and I had emerged from our warehouse after settling the wagons of muds to turn into bricks in our Realm of Mind, and pushing out the ones that had been readied the night before, we were approached by a guard from the northern gates. He reported that Townsend Harris and 3 of his men had come early morning, wishing to seek an attendance with Hus Majesty and me.

Since His Majesty had not arrived for his breakfast over in our grounds, I decided to welcome those guys that had come earlier yesterday together with Hiko-sama.

"What do you think those guys want, early in this morning right before taking breakfast?" asked Hiko-sama as he walked beside me towards the northern gates. He was afraid that these men were to invade the town of our breakfast. Hahahahaha.

"We'll see about that, don't worry Sensei... Our meals in this town would not be invaded by the barbarians at all. Hahahaha. Maybe they want to show a demo on their machine and guns." I reassured Hiko-sama as we reached the northern gates. As soon as the visitors saw us approaching, they picked themselves up and came before us and bowed deeply.

"Please accept our apologies for yesterday's intrusion and our misbehaviour towards the kind people of Japan. I am Townsend Harris and I am a delegate from the United States, and we wished to discuss matters with you as well as His Majesty. Would you be so kind as to accommodate us for these meets?"

"Definitely, Mr Harris. If you'd like us to get some men to fetch your caravans into our town, be my guest and let us know. Furthermore, let's discuss this matter at our business conference building just within our corporation grounds."

I replied as I gathered some people to get ready to mount some horses to these caravans and to bring it to our Corporation grounds. Can't expect to manually pull these right? Men are not horses for chrissake...!

"Thank you once again for accommodating our requests. And please once again accept our sincerest apologies." Townsend Harris bowed again as he profusely apologises for his mistakes. Most probably he has heard about some of the foreigners that were killed in Tokyo for being snobbish against the Japanese or had abused their authority in one way or another.

"It is alright, you don't have to keep repeating yourself like a Parrot. Once is enough and I don't take these matters to heart. As long as your sincere, you may enter and leave with your heads in your shoulders. If not, I won't be able to guarantee you anything."

"Hey...good morning Himura...! Could we join you for breakfast? I heard you got some problems here? Baff and Belch could solve it anytime for you... Burn those ships down just like in Berk... Woohoo...!!" Tuffnut appeared with his twin sister and approached us. Seeing these twins in blonde hair and speaking in perfect English stumped Townsend Harris back.

"Your Excellency... Who are these people, they don't look American nor Englishmen but they have blond hair as stood as tall as you? Do you mean that this town has already non-Japanese living in here? Who are there and their weird headgear and their flowing tied up hair?"

"Ruffnut, Tuffnut... Why don't you introduce yourself to this man? He's Townsend Harris and he's a delegate of the United States." I waved my hands at Townsend Harris as Ruffnut and her twin brother joined us x walking back to the Corporation grounds.

"Heya... I'm Ruffnut and this is my twin brother, Tuffnut. We're from Berk...and according to the map shown by Himura, our place is right in the middle of Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Svalbard...and we're the Vikings. Hahahaha. We are neither Americans or British so you may regard us as Berkeley. Hahahahaha. We're dragon tamers and riders."

"Oh hello, fellas. Hmm, doesn't His Excellency minds you both calling him by his name? I mean does he mind at all?" asked Townsend Harris as they chatted while Hiko-sama and I walked ahead in front of them.

"You mean Himura? To us, it's nothing. Calling him by his name is a form of respect too. By the way, you better watch out with him, he's the King Dragon. Ask forhis Kodachi if you'd like to know what we mean by that."

"King Dragon? What does it mean? Dragons are folklore and legends and only appears in a fairytale and so on, not in real life?"

"Not in real life you say? Himura...! Could you summon Baff and Belch along with Butt and Head?!" Tuffnut called out to me as soon as I had reached the garden area. I looked at them quizzically and I realised that the twins wanted to make a deep impression on this delegate and so I sucked in on my lower lips using my fingers and whistled.

Soon, our skies went dark as 3 dragons came flying over and hovered near to us and landed gently on the grounds and bowed their heads and closed their eyes before me. Townsend Harris nearly peed in his pants seeing these beasts that overfed and landed.

To him, it was like a serpent without wings based on Chinese and Japanese folklore on how they depict dragons and on Westerners point of view, they were like lizards with legs and wings. Hahahahaha.

So before him was the Western version of dragons and the look of the twin-headed, twin-tailed dragon frightened him most that he was simply buckling at his knees.

"What Ruffnut mentioned is true, our dragons here could simply vamoose your entire fleet of ships on the coastal waters on the Sea of Japan anytime. No cannons or firepower could suppress these winged beasts." I patted my hands on the dragon's heads and stroked their chins and told them to go back and rest. Later at 9 am they would start their work dredging the river beds again.

They opened up their eyes and nudged me with their snouts and slowly flapped their wings and flew away to roost in the mountains.

"It is truly amazing... I've never figured that you would be able to control these beasts." Townsend Harris finally spoke up as he watched the winged beast flew into the air before heading to the mountains.

"No... I don't control them. That's not a word to be used against beasts and humans. We don't exercise control but we have a mutual understanding. These beasts knew who I am and who their riders and tamers are. And control is not a word to be used around here. It's an understanding. Do you get it through you, Mr Townsend? "

"Ah Yes, Your Excellency... We understand. Thank you for pointing it out to us. We would make sure we won't make such a mistake again."

"Remember what I mentioned yesterday about respect? We don't demand respect. It's how we earned respect with our residents here. The title of Mayor and Governor is just a title in the end. What matters most would be respected we gave to every single resident here, except for those lawbreakers which we won't give any second chances at all."

"We gave respect so we would be respected by our residents, no matter if they are our juniors or seniors. We are living here as one big family and as a family, we look after each other. Right now it's New Kitakata Town, next it would be the whole of Fukushima and the next would be the whole of Japan."

"We won't mind having Westerners ideas and influences. Sooner or later, we going to have WacDonalds, HutPizza, FFC, King Burgers, Bendy's and House Waffles fast-food restaurants. Yeah... I like that idea and we would be moving into the Industrialization Era with the Westerners ideology and inventions."

"However, these ideologies and implementations would go through His Majesty and my approval first. Too much too fast would topple the whole Japanese Empire and we won't want that to happen as long as His Majesty and I are alive, won't we?"

I motioned to Tokugawa Iemochi as he stepped into the garden and was oblivious to what was happening except seeing the 3 dragons flew off earlier when he was coming in from the trading district.
