233 Chapter 232 : : Griston

Drain was just going to escape after picking up his arm but he felt like he was locked down by a ferocious beast.

He lifted his head, only to see the big bear charging towards him.

He turned around and flew without any hesitation, wanting to escape as fast as possible.

The bear had no intention of giving up. It pushed the ground below his feet with all its strength, thick muscles bulged and the outlines of the veins became visible on its black fur.

..Booom…..

The bear kicked the ground and leaped in the sky, like a cannon shell, towards Drain.

When it neared Drain, it raised its paw and the sharp, scythe-like claws, hidden inside, surfaced at that time. The bear then swooped them at him.

Blood spurted out like a fountain from Drain's back. The crackling sound of bones breaking was clearly audible, but he didn't even have the time to feel the pain, as he flew at the ground like a meteor.

…Booooooomm…..

Drain's body crashed down, forming a deep pit around it. That level of attack wasn't something he could take on with his lower cultivation base, compared to Aiden. Hence he died instantly.

After it killed Drain, he returned his sigh at his initial target, which was now looking back at him in horror.

"Eld... Elder Chen, quickly, use the Beast-Slaying Formation..." The old man shouted.

"This... Grand Elder, Sect Master said we can use it only in case we encounter The King Of The Forest," A man wearing the ordinary black cloak like other people came forward and said with some hesitation. The person was actually a trump card kept brought by the old man, in case they encounter The King Of The Forest or any strong enemy.

There was a reason to keep him hidden. He was in fact a Talisman master, good at formation, but needs time to make preparation for the formation. If the enemies were aware of it, then they could easily avoid the attack by going out of the formation range or could directly rush towards him, to finish him off before the formation took effect.

"What is the use of saving it if we can't even make it out alive? I would take the blame for it, use the formation," the grand elder gritted his teeth and said.

The moment the command was received, Elder Chen threw out four talismans towards the incoming bear.

'This bastard... he had long prepared the talismans. He was just waiting for me to shoulder the responsibility!' Grand Elder realized as he saw Elder Chen directly using the talismans to set up the Beast-Slaying formation.

The transformed beastman wasn't thinking rationally so like the other attacks, he ignored the talismans coming towards him and rushed to the grand elder.

When Fred saw it, he panicked and shouted at Aiden, telling him to dodge, but the bear completely ignored him.

…Boom x4…

Surprisingly, the explosions weren't very dangerous, but from them, a strange black fog surrounded the beast. The smoke wasn't dispersing in the atmosphere, instead, it was covering the bear's body, as if an invisible box was constricting it.

Unexpectedly, the density of the smoke began to decrease on its own. It looked like it was disappearing, but in truth, it actually was getting absorbed by the body of the bear. Even with the smoke forcibly breaking inside its body, the beat was still not paying attention to it, so instead of resisting it, it kept rushing towards the old man.

Suddenly the transformed beastman movements abruptly halted. His body trembled for a second then he lost control over his legs and fell on the ground.

The bear looked unwilling. It roared at the old man, then used all its strength and forced its body to try to stand up. But then it fell back to the ground. It then tried again and again, but every time it managed to rise, it collapsed back to the ground.

The grand elder finally heaved a sigh of relief.

"Grand Elder, you don't need to worry, the main ingredient for these talismans is the blood of Four Eyed Desert Frog. Being able to move right now, is already quite unexpected. A normal person wouldn't be able to move for at least three days after coming in contact with the paralysis gas." Elder Chen said in a confident tone.

Talismans have many subtypes. Blood Talismans are one of them. As the name suggests they are created using a special ink the main component of which is the blood of a magical creature.

Four-Eyed Desert Frog's blood has a strong paralysis effect, but the black gas from the Blood Talisman Elder Chen used had several times greater effect in comparison. The formation technique was to prevent the smoke from spreading so only the target would get afflicted.

"He... He is recovering," the old man said with shocked eyes.

Elder Chen looked at the bear with wide eyes, although the legs were trembling nonstop but it still managed to stand up.

"Throw the net at him, we can't take this risk," The old man shouted, he panicked, as he saw the beast glaring at him.

Fred interrupted her in middle.

While the bear was still struggling, two men in black threw a big net made of grey colored metallic wires at it.

Both of them were wearing black gloves. They didn't dare touch the net with bare hands, as not to get their Qi absorbed by it.

The beast was barely standing so how could it dodge. The second the net fell, it removed the remaining Qi, taking the little strength remaining and the beast fell to the ground.

"Don't worry, this time he is really done for. The Griston metal used to make the net is of high quality, one needs to be at least at Golden Core stage to break it. It doesn't have much energy left so it will give up soon, if it still tries to resist then it's better to break his hands and legs before imprisoning him" Elder Chen said while looking at the bear struggling to break free from the net.

"Well, if that's true, then this Griston metal net is good indeed,"

"Of course it is, Sect Master needed to pay a big pri… Huh?" Elder Chen was happy to hear the praise, but then he realized the voice was unfamiliar to him.

He hurriedly turned back only to see a tall man with long white hair and blood red eyes staring at the net with his right hand touching his chin.

Grand Elder also turned and looked at Rex with a solemn expression. As the supposedly strongest person here, he wasn't even able to sense someone standing behind him for who knows how long. If Rex was an assassin then he would have died without knowing what killed him.

Fred who was preparing to make a distraction also stopped in his tracks and looked at Rex.

"Who are you?" Elder Chen shouted while secretly taking out some talisman with his hand hidden behind his back.

Rex didn't reply, but looked around, he was searching for Ria.

All the youngsters of the beastmen race weren't together with the villagers imprisoned in chains. They were locked up in the cages.

These things would naturally anger Rex, but he remained calm because Jiang Shuang had already told him about many things like that. And judging based on Jiang Shuang's words, it was actually better compared to what they may have faced in the future.

Rex also saw Kaira and Derek in the cages imprisoned with other children, but most of them were unconscious, they were staring at him with wide eyes, but he just gave them a faint smile in return and kept searching.

After checking most cages, his eyes landed on the semi-last cage in the row.

Inside, he saw a girl whose appearance was very similar to Ria's. Whether it was her face or her body, it all looked same, the only difference being instead of the green snake tail, few strands of green hair and green fin-like ears, she had red snake tail, few strands of red hair and red fin-like ears.

The girl had some injuries and cut marks on the tail. Fortunately, the injuries weren't life threatening.

Rex wanted to observe her more, but he soon noticed that there was another girl in the cage, who was lying unconscious on her lap, it was Ria.

Her forehead had some blood trails on it, which showed that she likely received an injury on her head resulting in her loss of consciousness.

Rex's anger surged when he saw that, but he still held back. He quietly walked to the cage and reached out his hand to grab the grey metal rods.

When the Grand Elder and Elder Cheng saw it, they inwardly sneered at him. If somebody came in direct contact with the Griston then, it would start to continuously absorb their Qi, until it sucked them dry. The stronger the cultivation base of the person is, the stronger will be the suction force. According to them, Rex touching it was a foolish behavior.

Rex grabbed the grey rods with one hand each.

[-0.7 P Yin Qi]

[-1.3 P Yang Qi]

[-1.7 P Yin Qi]

[-0.9 P Yang Qi]

Rex ignored the Qi absorbing ability of the metal and bent the rods with brute force. His strength right now was not something to sneer at, whether it was Qi or physical status he had long surpassed a Core Forming stage cultivator's level.

When everyone saw Rex easily ripping out the grey rods, they were dumbstruck.

When the rods were pulled out, Rex extended his hand towards Ria but the other girl quickly covered Ria with her hand and looked at Rex with vigilance.

Rex didn't explain anything and grabbed Ria's hand. The other girl reacted, suddenly red scales appeared on her neck and two snake-like fangs came out of her mouth. She was just about to do something, but in the next second the scales disappeared and she looked tired.

But she still didn't give up and bit on Rex's hand.

'Is it so called love-bite?' Rex thought as he looked at her.

[No, it's snake bite.]

The girl bit with all her strength but she wasn't even able to pierce Rex's skin.

[Analyzing complete.]

[She is just unconscious, the injury is nothing serious.]

'That's good,' (Rex)

'Heal' (Rex)

Several golden rays of light came out of Rex's hand and fell on Ria's body, after a short brief, the light disappeared. Rex initially wanted to heal everyone right now, but then he decided to take care of the enemy first.

"She will wake up after enough rest," Rex said in a low tone which only the other girl could hear, then turned around and walked out of the cage.
